It's more ironic than you think 'cus near all the starfield's gunplay was recycled FO4 animations.
It's actually worse though. Gore/gibbing was completely removed and after hearing about it in Worth a Buy's review I actually reinstalled F04 and I can verify that the sound design for the guns is much weaker.

Which is absolutely baffling because the animations are a straight port so why not do the same with the audio?

Bethesda cannot stop fucking up for even a single second.
 
It's crazy how Fallout 4 is still the most "next gen" game Bethesda made and it's a glorified Skyrim overhaul with guns. Fallout 76? Don't make me laugh, that was several steps backwards AND it was a shit game. Starfield? An inferior Fallout 4, without a single innovation unless you count the flying dragons in empty black skyboxes and ability to build legos as "innovation".
Fallout 4 released in 2015, we're nearing a 10 year anniversary of that game and still no better Bethesda RPG to take it's crown. What a mess, and Fallout 4 wasn't even that good to begin with

I think the rise of video "essays" as the norm for reviews is what you get when Youtube heavily promotes creators making longform, evergreen content or whatever. And just like written essays, you get plenty of padding, just with pregnant pauses and digressions rather than the standard written restatements you see in high schooler's book reports. You don't really need to start talking about photobombing with sniper scopes and unfunny animal videos when you can just do one sentence of "Companions often run right in front of you during firefights, causing friendly fire, and this is a really annoying issue that plenty of other games have found work-arounds for in the past," for example.

I'd rather listen to FemaleDatingStrategy's podcast for 1.5h. Faggots thinking their thoughts are important enough to warrant that much time from people usually have absolutely nothing of value to say. I can talk for hours and not say a thing too.
 
Watched the video. As usual, it's a bit longer, but he usually has a lot more useful and interesting things to say than your average reviewer. Moreover, he actually reviews the games, rather than just rant about them, and this one is no different.
It should be noted that an awful lot of what he predicted(as of July last year, mind you) came to be true in some capacity, so that deserves a mention
He briefly mentions his review of Redfall, which I also recommend since it goes indepth as to what is exactly happening at these studios that makes a lot of these newer games turn out to be so shit(note: that video came out before the Sweet Baby scandal, and yet in hindsight, he seems to be asking quite a few questions and making the right assumptions that we now know to be true)

Bruce Nesmith retired in 2021, but at that time was the Senior Designer on Starfield and I guess was the lead designer on Skyrim. He talks a lot about Fallout 76 and his work on Starfield before he left.

One of the big things I took from it is that Todd is apparently the guy with the final say on everything with their projects, but he seemingly hates this and tries his best to not be this guy. He says this became an issue as the staff began to increase in size and thus more and more people fight for Todds attention.

It really makes it seem like there were way too many cooks in the kitchen with this. He makes a point of saying that Todd is really good at seeing what the "average" gamer wants, which makes me wonder if it was his idea to cut the survival aspects after all.

We know Starfield was Todds baby, so I wonder if he held a lot of disappointment at having to make these decisions feeling that it was needed to make the game appeal to the masses and thus be profitable.

He also talks about how Todd nixed two dozen systems because at that point it's not a big deal to scale up to 100. This is fucking bonkers to me, as I'm taking it that the copy/paste nature of everything is by design and not necessity.

That same person made an honest to god amogus quest mod, with it's own vault and impostor and everything. Then, in another instance you have a shitload of "gay guns" for every mental illness available, and then he gets all horny and starts making "fixes" to obscure sex mods, such as "removing the N words"(mod not even available on Nexus anymore due to ridiculous levels of racism) or making a list of everyone he thinks is a rapist or unwholesome misogynist in another specific sex mod so you can kill them too(sex workers are fine and hecking valid, obviously). Best one in that regard is his TTW sex mods, where you have such award winning descriptions of each companion's sexualities such as "(Star Paladin Cross) is a minority in every sense of the word". Brilliant, really gets you in the mood for some romance.
Peak Fallout modcow, I suggest everyone who wants a good laugh checks this dude out for himself. He also has a podcast which is probably about leftist politics more than about video games, so there might be some more milk from him yet.

Nepotism and office politics are a big issue in Bethesda. This isn't anything new, plenty of other devs talked about this, earliest this can be tracked down to by me would be devs who worked on Fallout 3's Broken Steel expansion saying the exact same thing and I don't doubt this was happening before that point as well.
I would not be surprised if there were several dozen cut systems that were nixed to be dumbed down for the average Bethesda retard and the survival/fuel mechanics were just the tip of the iceberg. Finding cut content in the game is going to be a blast, we had Starfield leak a while before the game was even formerly announced that leaked screenshots and assets, so I hope we get a leak of early builds to see which systems these might have been at some point.

Did you find the Powder Ganger one where he goes over every single nigger rape scene? I think there is a bestiality scene in that mod as well, and I know all that thanks to our Antifa friend here, who apparently likes this sort of content!(and killing kids)
Also, that might be a bit of a shock to you, but even in Fallout's wacky world I don't think you could sexually please a living mutant tree. This would be on the account of the BARK, you know the thick stuff that Woodsmen need a giant axe just to get thru, and Harold's is thick enough it classifies as armor(you get a special perk if you get Harold's blood splashed on you if you decide to kill him, there is no way he is "feeling" any of it even if you...do anything with his branches or roots, I have no fucking clue how that would even work)

Starfield is fucking awful but I'd rather play it than listen to a perpetually sarcastic British person talk about it for an hour. The sweetest mercy is the foreknowledge that you don't even need to do either of those things to know why the game and the company that made it sucks.
 
The point's been made recently but I want to reiterate my enjoyment of it (especially to annoy the Ritalin fags who bellyache about the length of video essays they're not being forced at gunpoint to watch) -- people are discussing FO4 and, well, arguing about Youtube video essays, rather than discuss the boring piece of shit that is Starfield.

That makes me smile. They've produced such a droll dog turd that people would rather talk about products released more than a decade ago. Great job, Bethesda. You've done it again!
