I don't think copium of different flavors really is worth arguing over the minutiae of but Starfield has individual mechanics and moments you can enjoy. Outer Worlds felt like a game I forced myself to complete hoping something would change. It still felt more like a complete but barebones game but that doesn't really make it worth playing. It's like a 5/10 shooter from the PS360 era that was technically a game but there is no reason to ever play it. Starfield is just looking at a broken mess of mechanics that aren't awful on the surface but disjointed. They both suck but if I was forced to play either for a month and have nothing else, I'd pick Starfield.Which, unfortunately, is the point. Something compelled both you and me to actually finish the game whereas Starfield was so devoid of gameplay, plot, or anything to actually do I dropped it like a hot potato. OW is a terrible game, but there's actually a fucking game there unlike Starfield which is nothing but a loading screen simulator.
Is it possible that you went into TOW wanting a great game from Obsidian, and you went into Starfield expecting or even wanting a terrible game from Bethesda?Something compelled both you and me to actually finish the game whereas Starfield was so devoid of gameplay, plot, or anything to actually do I dropped it like a hot potato.
A bit. I didn't have the best of hopes for TOW but I expected something interesting (which it sort of was in a terrible way), but after all the years of hype I honestly expected better from Bethesda. Whisper those pretty little lies in my ears again, Todd...Is it possible that you went into TOW wanting a great game from Obsidian, and you went into Starfield expecting or even wanting a terrible game from Bethesda?
Do you think these megacorp executives even play the games they sell? I doubt they even understood that much of what was going on beyond "pretty graphics"I would have loved to have seen the Microsoft executives' faces when they first got to see Starfield in action after purchasing Bethesda. $400million budget. Before marketing most likely as well. What a joke.
They knew well enough to give the game an extra year of QA, something that would never happen if Bethesda wasn't bought by daddy Microsoft. Think about that for a second, this is the "polished" release of the game.Do you think these megacorp executives even play the games they sell? I think people realizing that space games as a genre exists now is pretty interesting. There is so many simulators that do what Starfield tried to do much better that the game more or less gave them free advertising as it flopped for a couple of weeks. It's interesting how I played pretty much any Bethesda game since Daggerfall got me hooked back in the day but had no interest in even pirating this one. It's just the same slop it's been for years now and people act like it was some huge betrayal. What else did you really expect from Todd "don't believe his lies" Howard? Modding can fix a game only if there's some promise in it to begin with. It doesn't seem like this game has even that.
The best I took away from this is that apparently X4 is playable now.
Starfield was in development all the way back in 2014 and had a full team in 2015 basically. This is easily one of the most embarrassing games ever released compared to its budget and development time. Hyenas had a $100million budget but a lot of that was spent partying with the celebrities they were inviting to the studio for 'pep talks' or whatever Creative Assembly was doing instead of actually working. SEGA still saw the game and essentially flushed not only $100million into the toilet but also crippled the Total War franchise as collateral damage. They knew well enough to give the game an extra year of QA, something that would never happen if Bethesda wasn't bought by daddy Microsoft. Which is why I will never, ever let it go that TOW is now a certified classic in comparison. I already said why that game is superior, even with it's flaws, but think about how much that is going to make Bethesda fanboys froth at the mouth going forward. The only cope they have is that DLC and mods will fix it, they're in for a rude awakening, and honestly that cope is the only thing worth looking forward to regarding this game. Well, that and the upcoming autistic 20 hour Patrician TV retrospective on it.This is easily one of the most embarrassing games ever released compared to its budget and development time
Everyone agrees that Starfield is shit. No one but you is saying Outer Worlds isn't.Which is why I will never, ever let it go that TOW is now a certified classic in comparison. I wonder if Starfield would have been scrapped if Todd hadn't revealed it in 2018.Starfield was in development all the way back in 2014 and had a full team in 2015 basically. I have to imagine that when Microsoft demanded an extra year of QA that they seriously considered just scrapping the game entirely and hoping to just rush out Fallout 4 remastered in its place. Or possibly put another studio into the Fallout franchise and pray that the studio could deliver New Vegas 2 like how New Vegas was made in just 17 months.
Forgive me for being mad at the internet here, but you are still talking shit and you need to quit while you're aheadWhich is why I will never, ever let it go that TOW is now a certified classic in comparison. Starfield was a bulwark for TES6 against the year 2023 and I'm thankful for its service. TES6 will still likely be ass cancer but it's not ass cancer here and now. The Microsoft buyout was three years after the announcement and I'd guess they had to have something to show. If anything, they fucked up the timing of the announcement.I wonder if Starfield would have been scrapped if Todd hadn't revealed it in 2018.
I also liked it. The only place I’ve seen people shitting in it is here.Everyone agrees that Starfield is shit. No one but you is saying Outer Worlds isn't.
Don't make me tap the signbut think about how much that is going to make Bethesda fanboys froth at the mouth going forward.
Honestly, it is okay to like both games, that is Starfield and Outer Worlds. Nothing wrong with either, but it's funny how one clearly gets much more rise out of people than the other(and only one of them is universally accepted to be shit)I also liked it
This is the only place I've seen mention it more than in passing in the last three years. It was universally forgotten a month after release only to ever get mention again with the shitty Spacer's Choice version that was Jewry by the publisher.I also liked it. The only place I’ve seen people shitting in it is here.
I haven’t ruled out that I’m possibly an utter retard but you’re good.Honestly, it is okay to like both games, that is Starfield and Outer Worlds. If you mean TOW, I agree I actually never seen people straight up hate on the game like this outside of this one thread. Maybe lack of taste is in order?
Speaking of asscancer coming down the line, is anyone else looking forward to playing as the ☢ Atomborn ☢ when FO5 releases a decade from now? Featuring new and unique powers such as Unrelenting Nuclear Force, Slow Atoms, and Become Atomless. The writing is on the wall, this the the only story Bethesda has left to tell.Starfield was a bulwark for TES6 against the year 2023 and I'm thankful for its service.
