Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

This would be absolute insanity for them to do. It would piss off the few fans they have left, and it's something that modders can probably "fix" with little effort immediately.

So that means it's definitely going to happen.
The cattle that still sticks around for Starfield are the biggest niggers in all of gaming and only the most true and honest followers of Todd(so the same thing). They can get abused for eternity and they will still stick around like abused wives they are.
The Starfield fanboys on /v/ and /vg/ unironically think that the game is not only successful but still growing in popularity, and the DLC will "save it" like it did with Cyberpunk or No Man's Sky. "Delusional" doesn't begin to describe it.
It's hilarious to see a major selling point like the vehicles now get reduced to yet another settlement toy, like the fireworks, ball rollers and other various settlement items added in Fallout 4 that nobody ever used. I can't wait until this DLC releases, it will be a glorious shitstorm when people realize that it won't "save the game" at all.

If it makes worthless bigots seethe it will be worth it alone, sweetie. Todd is the future, you are spluttering fools.

I tried to give Starfield another chance and immediately got chastised by Sarah for not trusting ze science and "not having her back" because apparently I'm mean. It rubbed me such a wrong way I turned the game off. Next time I boot up I'm not even going to bother trying to raise her affinity, fuck that bitch.

I won't be happy with Starfield until a Broken Steel type of DLC comes out to fix the shit tier story and there is a way to make all the populated areas not look like total shit or copy and pasted in. Akila City literally looks like a dog turd and New Atlantis has no suburbs, industrial district, or outskirts. Modders are not excited to go back to Starfield unless there is genuine reason to go back to the game.

Bethesda has more work to do and much to learn from this failure of theirs.

Do we have any information on how it all went wrong yet? i was hoping for morrowind in space, but got 76 but in forced single player
Will Shen gave an interview at GDC and pretty much blamed everything on red tape. Bethesda scaled up massively between FO4 and 76 and couldn't properly streamline their environment to account for a 400% increase in employees. Zero department communication, zero design document, Todd and Emil completely inaccessible (for better or for worse), everything was created isolated environments. Not really anything people haven't been suspecting, just nice to hear it from the horse's mouth.

Aside from the GDC video you got linked, Patrician's 9 hour epic goes over what he thinks went wrong during development as well, with proof for what he's saying of course.
This is a dead IP, I don't think they can salvage it. There is virtually zero interest in the DLC let alone a sequel.
It will never not be funny that when both Bethesda and Obsidian tired to make a standalone space RPG franchise, Obsidian still won.
Now with TES6 becoming the new Duke Nukem Forever and Fallout dead thanks to the TV being declared canon, Bethesda has nothing else going for them. Their old IP is dead, their new IP they bought is fucked, and the new IP they just made is a laughingstock less than a year after release. There will be zero confidence in their next project, new IP or not, so they will just double down on ruining Fallout or TES while trying to salvage Starfield.
The boat is full of leaks and they started trying to bucket out the water far too late. It's just a matter of time until they go under no matter what they do at this point. Daddy M$ only cares about the IPs, so they could care less about the studio itself, especially after Starfield's awful launch.

And let's say I want a quick summary?
There is no summary for his 9 hour video, you will just have to watch it in full.
As for the game failing, it's Bethesda being Bethesda: Every single problem they had since Morrowind and the rot that set in finally came rearing it's ugly head in full with Starfield. It is Bethslop in it's purest form and without memberberries or existing foundations from another IP, it was always going to be.
One re-occurring theme you will hear in that video is a lack of a proper design draft thanks to Emil trying to "figure it out on the fly". This is absolutely retarded BTW and nobody in the industry does this, and we can see why when the big idea for Starfield was quite literally "Skyrim in space!" written on a post-it note being pinned on the cafeteria fridge

Nobody else in the industry is retarded enough to hire Emil either except Todd "Chess Club" Howard and in an industry full of fucking retards that says a lot.

Same with the black woman who interrupts a philosophical chat between you and the religious guy as he talks about the existence or not of a superior being, she steps in to give her insight: "science brought us here".
Instead of making a Star Trek-like universe, Emil made a Reddit galaxy.

Almost every companion character in this game spouts reddit atheism+ rhetoric.

At least in Fallout 4 Cait and Strong didn't run around going "wubba dub dub existence is pointless, mortay! I'm Constellation Riiiiiick!"

Incompetence at Bethesda. The lead writer is an idiot, the devs barely know how their ancient-ass engine works anymore, they refuse to update or replace it (mostly because they don't know how), said engine is dogshit and completely unsuited for the game they tried to make, the only reasonably skilled people who worked there are long gone to greener pastures, the project manager didn't say "no" enough, etc.

What more do you need? It's Bethesda. They've been on a downward slide for over a decade. This is their current level of competence. Expect it to get worse (assuming they don't get shut down before their next release).

It's been 12 years since Skyrim and almost 10 since Fallout 4. The projected release date for TES6 is allegedly 2027/2028 and Fallout 5 by all indications hasn't even begun pre production so it could be 2030 at the earliest.

Microsoft is famously lenient with their studios but even they might tell Bethesda to hurry the fuck up and release something if they're taking fifteen years to release entries in their flagship franchises.

What more do you need?
I was hoping based on the fuel thing being a massive waste of time that we had a great game that got dumbed down a shit ton and they cut out everything. Like Destiny "I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain"

Where if it spent more time in the oven and had better more forward thinking people in charge we'd have gotten our "Morrowind in space" game

Like why devote such a huge chunk of time to space combat when it's not good or necessary

Why do all your companions have the same ideology?

Why was I retarded enough to believe the memes on /v/ again?

didnt MS forced them to start fallout 5 asap to take advantage of the shitty amazon show?
Unless they had shit ready to go there's no taking advantage of that, it's gonna take years, probably more like a decade even, and I don't hear people even talking about the show anymore, in fact, haven't heard it brought up at all after it was done. I think they got some shit out for Fallout 76 but there's very few people who still give a shit about either.

Ah, gotcha. Sadly, the truth really just comes down to laziness and incompetence. When I said "the project manager didn't say 'no' enough," I was referring to the fact that everything in the game is so watered-down. If they'd cut out a few parts/ideas they could have focused more on putting real meat on the bones of what was left. But it's a classic example of "wide as a lake, deep as a puddle."

I can see Bethesda managing to shit out a game in 2-3 years in time for S2 if they fire all the trannies and Todd starts acting like a proper boss instead of letting everybody faff about doing everything but their actual job.

I know, give me the rainbows.
