How do you think Starfield will turn out?

I like that I can upgrade weapons now instead of having to deal with the whole bullshit looter shooter thing they fell in love with with Fallout 4.
I think Bethesda's version of the looter-shooter gimmick was always bad. The weapons or gear you loot will never be better, you always loot the same gun or armor but sometimes with a special effect.* The new update is really good because now you can keep using the stuff you like and actually upgrade them.
Now if only they could add transmog to the space suits, that would be great.

*that's something Sseth got completely wrong in his review of Starfield. There's a part in the video where he says that you can get the best guns on a planet with a certain level but it's false. Let's say, you get the Regulator pistol on Akila, you loot another Regulator pistol on a planet with a level higher, it will be the same gun, doing the same amount of damage.

he was probably talking about weapon tiers.

ie ADVANCED weapons are infinitely superior to base weapons, and their drop chance is level based.

I dont know if the update lets you change this but I assume it does because otherwise you previously werent able to upgrade weapon "tiers" via crafting

It's just so crazy to me that I could literally upgrade a Steel Sword (or even an Iron Sword if I *really* wanted to) in Skyrim just because I fucking liked it, but then in Fallout 4 and base Starfield they pushed this shit where if I found a gun I liked I had to drop it after a certain level.

Like even if I don't give a shit about the goofy effects, it still sucked. I ended up just console commanding a lot to get around it.

Edit: I saw a video on the new companion at the bank. I just want to say I'm going to forever hate Aubrey Plaza for keeping alive the monotone, emotionless girl thing that should have died out with Daria back in the early 2000's.

It's like the normies (as opposed to elite gamerinos that populate Starfield) came in and desecrated the holy works of Saint Emil
GIGABVSED, fuck emil, that hack.

it does, took them this much years to add a shitty XFactor material that lets you upgwade your guns to max tier alongside some credits.

ignore the broken string shit due to outdated mods, i can't mod my game because i am seeding it, if i add a mod that will fix this issue the torrent will break with missing files error.

Meanwhile i got a pretty stable modlist for OG Oblivion and runs like heaven at 72 fps.
I played it recently and with only like 40 mods It looked significantly better than the remaster.

The whole oil painting canvas graphical style of the OG was completely removed which is nuts because it was one of the original's biggest strengths.

Like i said in the TES thread, i always loved Oblivion's atmosphere.
Remastered ruined both atmosphere (basically Skyrim's nu-lightning) and characters.
The High Elves are more horrific than OG Obvilion. And even OCOv2 makes a excellent work to reshape the faces, much better than the shitty Remastered version.

How the fuck, Todd?

If you're interested there's an extremely underrated mod for Skyrim called Surreal Lighting that replicates Oblivion's cool dreamlike atmosphere in Skyrim.

Highly highly recommend.

Replaying Starfield after dropping it a few months after launch because of all of the issues piling up by hour 50. Free Lanes I feel like should've been in the game from the start considering how much you use your ship to travel around instead of the linear paths you had to take.

I still don't like that were the dragonborn IN SPACE!!!!

I think the funniest thing about it was going on reddit and having a thread pushed to me that was basically a bunch of Starfield lorebeards (I honestly had no idea they were a thing) losing their mind at how this update "breaks" the Starborn lore. Literally like a dozen dudes losing their mind because the "casuals" won and now they don't have to go through the unity 10+ times to upgrade powers, and trying to find a way to justify it in the bare bones lore of the game.
I didn't even imagine anyone having any kind of serious investment into Starfield lore. Post some screencaps.

I played Starfield on release. Got through boring and stupid tutorial, flew around in space a bit, decided "this sucks", uninstalled and never touched it again. On every corner I thought to myself: this could have been done way better and more interesting. I wonder how owlcat Expanse game will turn out.

Says a lot that when I looked up the DLC's name because I wanted to see how it was fairing even to Starslop fans, I find articles and posts shitting on it before I find the Steam page. In fact I'm past halfway through page 1 lol.
A year and a half later and they still have not fixed that line of dialogue LMAO
Wat? That's an actual thing in the game? And they still never fixed it? It's like an infinitely worse version of these because at least they have soul to it:

I can't wait for them to port it into TES6 where it makes zero fucking sense. We already have equipment tiers, its called equipment materials.

If TES6 doesn't replace unique equipment with "legendary" equipment that look exactly the same as the default items I'll eat my hat.
