why tho. if you got the mmo itch ESO does it better (ymmv), also cheaper and less pozz

the reason people say steam sales "suck" is because there's actual competition regarding sales (which sometimes are even lower) but they don't know or don't wanna use it.
Nah sales have objectively been worse on steam. You van check on ITAD and you can see a lot of games have had their lowest price before 2023. Fallout 3 GOTY is on sale for 6.60 right now when it used to be 5 on the regular. Metal Gear Solid 5 used to go on sale for 5 and hasn't since 2020.

We're not talking about steam KEY sales here. We're talking about the official storefront.

Well, I played both games in the past, and had a better time with GW2. Possible that Guild Wars got worse, but I have been itching to replay it and can find out if that is really true on my own. As for ESO, I also intend to revisit it too but not sure how much they fucked up the lore not to mention that the combat is not really great.

kiwi endorsement appreciated! I don't understand one word of Spanish, is the english dub that bad?
No, its just that the game has a VERY SPECIFIC Catholic look and feel based upon a very specific time period (you don't have to know about it to enjoy it) that the Spanish dub gives a very heavy weight and feel to the whole thing. Adds more to mystery of the game.

there is no "official" storefront unless you're talking about the aborted bethesda launcher or now fucking windows store.
steam keys ARE official, ITAD only lists official resellers. it makes fuck all difference if I click the green button in steam or some verified webshop and then dump the key in steam. who the fuck you think generates those "unofficial" keys?

you could literally buy FO3 for THREE bucks in 2012 on gamersgate: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/fallout-3-game-of-the-year-edition/info/ and plenty of bundles since.
this also ignores are prices are not set by steam, but the publisher. for the same reason MGS5 hasn't been in a bundle since 2020, when you could get it for less then FOUR dollar with GZ and revengeance in fucking 2018: https://isthereanydeal.com/bundles/6636/
price history also shows you could get often enough it for less than 5 bucks up until june 2023, when the best price tripled.

going with that steam sales were "always" shit, made especially obvious by not being mentioned in history for all time, let alone last year and last 3 months.

Since we're talking about rpgs I recommend Iron Tower games. Age of Decadence and more recent Colony ship. They are "hardcore" old school rpgs, you will need to reload saves but I think they are not that hard as legends say. They are really fine games with massive replayability. Especially age of decadence. You will learn something new on each playthrough. You can go super murder hobo, be a diplomat or even something in between.

Has anyone tried Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon? I liked demo well enough but steam forums claim the game is buggy as fuck right now.

There's also the 5 Geneforge games. Graphics are monstrously ugly, but they're Vogel's best output, and offer a unique spin on the fantasy setting, with some great worldbuilding and reactivity.
I agree. I got all 5 for free on gog at some point and was sceptical. Geneforge games are clunky and ugly but the setting is great. Discovering and learning about the world got me so hooked I finished first game in couple of days. There's also some build autism you can do but the games are easy enough on normal to do your own thing. $8 for those 5 games is a steal. I completed 3 out of 5 so far and all of them worked perfectly on win10. Remakes look good too but price is premium.

It's buggy and not worth even the sale price. I like the game a lot but it needs some time and polish. It's got good ideas and I hope the studio does more with the IP. I'd say in six months or so to check in on it again.

Colony Ship is the tits.

that does sound like it, now that you mention it I do agree. I'll give it a shot in Spanish then!

I've been debating on what to get, either:

  • The Devil May Cry HD collection (first 3 games remastered) for about $10
  • RE1 Remake + RE4 for about $10 total
  • FF7 (the original) + One of the pixel remasters (preferably 4, 5, or 6, maybe 2)
I kind of suck at games, but then again PS2 era games are usually easier than 8-bit/16-bit era games

Resident Evil 4 (2005) for 5 bucks is worth it. The graphics aren't the newest and shiniest but one of the things that I really like about the game is that it's a videogame.

This sounds retarded but my point is this: The game plays predictably, so learning the situation/enemies is a direct benefit, it's also a notable example of a game that has difficulty tuning based off your performance, so if you suck at a certain part it will get easier invisibly in the background as you retry (this doesn't apply on the hardest difficulty.) It's a very replayable game and one that's fun to watch as well, in my opinion.

I dont know about anyone else but I am mondo disappointed that instead of giving System Shock 2 the full remake treatment like they did with 1, all we get is a remaster that looks like a PS2 release title
