Stellar Blade / Project Eve Thread - aka Stellar Ass

I realize the optics of this whole debacle makes us look like dumb coomers but it's not about the sex appeal. Not really.

It's about why is it okay for malformed freaks and hideous character models to have fully rendered bareback sex, but an attractive woman wearing something skimpy is too far?

Why did Baldurs Gate get applauded for selling itself on bear sex but a fully clothed anime girl's butt is worth labeling entire countries as misogynistic?

Its about how the gaming industry is controlled but talking about it is a cardinal sin and must be censored.

Anyone reducing all this ramble to "crying over 3D models" is an asshole.
it's about ethics in coomerist contont

unironically total bear fucking white devil death
Yet we still haven’t reached the point where games are being buried in the desert.
the market got in a bubble in 2020-21, bubble popped in 2022, small growth in 2023, normal growth this year. the eternally seething @dustbuster may not like it, but we are in a normal cycle of cutting labor costs and grabbing market share through consolidation to increase profit in an expected future growth environment to the end of the decade (and beyond)

is the game actually fun to play?
No PC version.
I'm not rewarding SOYny for 5 years of war against east asian games for men by buying their console.
At one point last month I considered it to give positive reception to this game's concept, mainly because it was a major recuperation from the DEI anti-sex league's man-hate.
I'm glad I didn't with the recent news.
If the censorship gets rolled back, I may reconsider.

What I have heard second hand is good:
The game is apparently souls-like, but with much better telegraphing and more forgiving dodge and parry (in other words, they do a better job than fromsoft at action combat)

Let's see how things shake out over the next 14 business days.
Hyung Tai Kim when asked about this censorship tellingly used the phrase "we have a chance", implying he's with the people raising this issue and must contend with other powers that be.

eternally seething @dustbuster may not like it, but we are in a normal cycle of cutting labor costs
Every DEI game that comes out flops, the studio is then liquidated.
That is the pattern over 2023 and into 2024.
That is not a "normal cycle", that's cataclysmic market backlash and it's been bitch-slapping AAA hard.

Will you please take Sonys dick out of your mouth? You are embarrassing yourself.

Makes you wonder if this design and others will be censored on the PS5 version (another game made by Korean devs). Them again this is also coming to PC. Only PS5 users will get the cucked version as mods can fix those things on PC. It's quite funny how the developers ofVindictus: Defying Fate tweeted an image today and people already are talking about how the devs of Stellar Blade "betrayed them". At this point is a safe bet that Shift Up lost some of the coomers base with the day 1 patch on Stellar Blade.

Mark Kern has been more diplomatic and working with various community members trying to focus the ire on Playstation, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were lots of refunds.
This makes sense. Kern knows Kim on a 1:1 basis and is trying to get SOYny's boot off the project rather than sink it.

Vindictus
Doesn't this date back to 2010?
I remember looking at this when I was looking for a new MMO to hop to (i've run out of shit to do on XIV) and reading it was already "dead"
Is this a sequel, an expansion..

Oh no, the coomers who just can't even and have painted the walls with chimken nuggie grease because two instances of bare cleavage were covered up by Soyny are not happy that I'm laughing at their butthurt

Release the ) ( or billions must cancel PS+

Yeah this game is based off the MMO IP. However this title will be a single player action RPG with multiplayer as an option (e.g. summon another player if you are stuck on a boss) or just because you want to play with a friend.

Fuck no. The fact that they already did it once shows where their allegiances truly lie. Even if it gets rolled back, they've already censored other aspects of the game because the crybullies raised a big stink about it (Hard R).

And here I was hoping to see a new MMO.
I suppose that's ok too. It will probably sell.

The answer is LGBTQ+ women.

I am dead serious. What you're leaving out is that Baldur's Gate 3 is okay because it has things that appeal to certain subsets of urban women in it, such as fujoshi trash. If you removed Astarion or such from BG3 it would have gotten a lot more heat.

You'll have to tell me which games were DEI games, which were AAA games, and which flopped

Is that list accurate? How many were DEI? How many were flops? How many of the studios that made them were liquidated?

Even the stinky as fuck Diablo 4 brought Blizzard beaucoup profits

The number of new AAA releases took a big dip from 2020 to 2021 (-41 new AAA releases) and increased +15 new AAA in 2022 and 2023
How many of those are AAA? You tell me idk

Global vidya revenue +0.6% in 2023. The expected revenue growth rate this year is +2.8%

2022 was -4%
2021 +7%
2020 +20% (this is called a bubble)
2019 -3%
2018 +19%
2017 +19%
2016 +11%. (These three years also somewhat bubbly)
The five years before that all + but the highest was +7% in 2014. Remember how the vidya industry was doomed in 2019? I don't, must've missed it

Should probably mention that Shift Up is already hiring more gooks to make its next AA AA+ AAA whatever game since Stellar Blade is selling quite well. Keep signing dem petitions boyz

Global vidya revenue +0.6% in 2023.
On the backs of AA titles like BG3 doing break-out successes while the sales-to-budget ratio was negative for shit like Alan Woke 2.
The expected revenue growth rate this year is +2.8%
Yes, helldivers 2 was AA and has been such a smash hit they had to take multiple passes to assure proper server capacity.
They were expecting playerbase in the 10's of thousands and hit MILLIONS.

Global vidya revenue
I'm talking about AAA, not "Global Vidya"
AAA is an absolute shitheap right now.

The only one breaking records was Stellar Blade, which has now kicked its fans in the teeth with a day 1 patch, which will color pre-ordering for any other AAA title coming down the pipe.
FFXIV DawnTrail is going to pad those numbers heavy, too. It's a franchise active in its current incarnation since 2014, so old this DLC will include a complete graphics engine overhaul.

Stellar Blade is selling quite well.
It sold so well on preorders the premise it would cater to the "male gaze" and not be censored... but now it is.
How many refunds so far over the day 1 patch?
People were getting busy signals trying to cancel their PlayStation plus yesterday, too.

Anyone got an idea why they would censor themselves ? Or was it massive pressure from Sony ?
Given that the physical version has the uncensored outfits, i would say it was on Sony. Developers are coomers and it doesn't make much sense to spend additional resource at covering a character. They know their audience and covering up a character after it was revealed it's exactly a smart choice on their part, but Sony isn't exactly a smart company.

From what I found with a quick google search, the game ended up with South Korean AO back before this patch. If adding a tiny bit of fabric somehow got Korean ESRB off their backs, then that seems a lot more of an understandable reason given how crippling getting that rating is. It's also not really uncommon in games or even in other media like movies, things are reduced in intensity to avoid the actually enforced adults only rating all the time. Reading back in this thread a bit it doesn't seem like anyone's brought this up, was this addressed somewhere I just didn't see?
I'm going to nip this in the bud:

Doesn't seem to be an issue for BG3. My understanding is it's supposedly even reasonably popular there.

Imagine putting this much effort into bettering yourself in life and not angrily writing novel length posts over a few inches of skin.
I write 5 figure checks out of my monthly salary atm.
I'll complain about what I want, thank you.

This is correct.
"18+" has a completely lower stigma level in KR than "AO" does in the west.
ESRB "AO" in the states is what kills a game, but they got "M" which at 17+ is the closest to Kr's "18+" as you'll get.. the 2 nations draw the lines at different places. (korea is MUCH more paternalistic about gaming, even using laws to limit gametime on MMOs. They have a much larger segment of games in 18+ that are not at all scandalous)
