They used to be for shit like 2girls1cup that was both short, the people watching it knew what was coming, the person reacting didn't, and so I guess the idea was it was amusing to see someone be utterly horrified. It also didn't take more than a couple minutes, so as unfunny as it usually was even then, at least you didn't waste much time watching it.

Now, they're made unironically because atsimu and because of pop culture shit like Kids React, started by notorious pedophiles the Fine Brothers as an excuse to fap to Lia Marie Johnson.

A ten year old boy who's also his own mom goes on adventures with three alien rocks who take the forms of a bird-like ballerina with a huge superiority complex, a giant black woman who's really two lesbian midgets, and a "hip" fat girl for the Tumblrinas to obsess over. That's basically it. Also, according to the fandom, everyone is trans or some silly made-up gender or sexual orientation.

Also they can "fuse" with each other to form a bigger ballerina with a bow, a casino employee and Nicki Minaj.
