Steven Universe fandom (Gemtlemen)

For those who didn't bother going to the wiki, this is Yellow Diamond:

THIS gave somebody an anxiety attack...wat
To answer how it could give someone an anxiety attack: autism. Because apparently seeing a possible spoiler should make one get anxiety.

Uncanceling is a certified death sentence.
It hurts the quality of the show, making it a corpse of any former glory it had along with making the writers hate working on the same thing, especially if said writers wanted to do something different.

So what are the stories behind the crew and writers being as big of autists as the fandom? I keep seeing people say it but besides gem waifus I cant find anything.
From what I gather, most of the staff were Tumblr-aged during the Invader Zim/anime era, back when it was cool for the outcasts to be bisexual rather than making up sexualities and being trans. They're big on showing homosexual relationships and shit, but even they seem a bit weirded out by the new generation's obsession with everyone being trans.

Stevonnie the androgynous fusion of Steven and Connie was a big game changer character, did you expect the kind of reaction to Stevonnie received? What do you love about Stevonnie? Is Stevonnie agender or bigender…. or is gender is even a concern in Steven Universe?

Rebecca Sugar: Stevonnie is an experience! The living relationship between Steven and Connie. What I love about Stevonnie is that we are working with a metaphor that is so complex and so specific but also really, really relatable, in the form of a character. Stevonnie challenges gender norms as an individual, but also serves as a metaphor for all the terrifying firsts in a first relationship, and what it feels like to hit puberty and suddenly find yourself with the body of an adult, how quickly that happens, how it feels to have a new power over people, or to suddenly find yourself objectified, all for seemingly no reason since you’re still just you… and they are still just them, they’re Steven and Connie who you already know and relate to, and if you do you can feel, for this episode, what all of those feelings are like. And they feel it too and that stays with them. I knew that was bound to be interesting to people, for at least one of all those reasons!
This is how the creator usually responds to that type of shit. She quickly goes "yeah, nonbinary!" to avoid pissing anyone off, then doesn't mention it again. (or, in this case, tries to politely explain that it wasn't supposed to have anything to do with transexuals in way that won't make the fanbase accuse her of being tranphobic)

Steven Universe fandom is the bastard lovechild of My Little Pony and Homestuck fandoms. Only more self-righteous somehow.

But of course the only reason we hate it is because we hate queer womyn right guys?

Holy victim complex Batman. Granted, they do have a point about the Gravity Falls fandom being crazy, especially on Tumblr. I personally believe that if there were more women/minorities/LGBT characters/fatties on the show, Tumblr would be just as batshit about GF as they are about SU. But for all of its faults, I have yet to hear about the GF fandom fucking up the business of a motel because of their asshatery. So GF wins! For now at least…
To be fair, the show did actually portray her with leg hair while she was on a deserted island

Yup. And I doubt she had access to a razor while on the island. Furthermore, there was a later episode in which she was wearing a dress that showed off her legs, and alas, no leg hair! So it seems to imply that she shaves her legs on a regular basis and acting like she doesn't is rather stupid.

…I'll stop being spregy about a children's TV show now. I promise.
