Oh, today MLP is definitely less popular on Tumblr and basically the only time it even comes close to actually having a lot of notes (over 500) is when they're complaining about bronies. Most of them jumped ship when SU came along because they realized it was easier to claim new land than fight the dug-in die hard spergs.Having studied the Bronies a bit, I've come to a conclusion: The Bronies forcibly evicted the Tumblrinas from their zone of influence. But it wasn't something they did in a vaccuum - it was the sort of tactical sperging that only comes from deep-seated hurt. Read on if interested.
The conflict between the Bronies and Tumblr went nuclear during the Derpy debacle, which I know mostly about due to none other than Chris, who was big on signal boosting Save Derpy. For the uninitiated, this was a major attempt by SJWs and Tumblr in particular to get a character who was portrayed as sort of ditzy and out of it as labeled "ableist," and have this character's name (Derpy Hooves) changed because "Derpy" is offensive.
For the Bronies, this was perceived (perhaps correctly) as an attack on the creators' rights to put what they wanted in the show and seen as a potential avenue for unwanted executive meddling (something that's viewed as haram in the Brony community). Since Derpy was (apparently) some kind of minor in-joke for the fanbase to enjoy, often seen as an embodiment of a nod being given towards its audience, in the same way a Dreamworks picture tries to sneak in a few jokes for the Dads in the audience, she was also rather beloved by the Bronies in general - so they immediately took this as a declaration of war. If one character could be removed for being "ableist," then the gloves were off and there was no limit to what could potentially be censured. And the Tumblrinas had succeeded in doing so. She was, apparently, all but removed for the remainder of the season and the bulk of the episodes for that season featured extensive corporate meddling, purportedly because of the ball that started rolling because of the Tumblr shitstorm.
Things worked out for the Bronies because they're what kept the all-important cash engine grinding along, and when they started to flag off, Hasbro had no choice but to appeal to the horsefuckers of various stripes who supported them in the first place. This was the first real victory against the Tumblrinas who were fond of MLP, which was soonafter followed by the anti-cult of personality episode which pretty much pointed out the dangers of so-called equality pushers, so at this point, the show's staff was firmly behind the Bronies.
This was when the Tumblrinas left MLP behind, for they had lost it to the Brony hordes. A war fought in secret, by spergs and lunatics, with consequences that mattered only to them.
How ironic, a mostly female fandom gatekeeping while screaming about male fans doing it.I'm positive this is 90% of why Tumblr latches onto the show so strongly. They want "their" own phenomenon because they were supposedly kept out of that one show. Reminder that when it was the inverse, fans of that show wanting to get into SU, they fucking exploded. What they actually want is to act as gatekeepers for who can and cannot watch things.
One good example of this gatekeeping was when some brony website was having an off-shoot blog about Steven Universe. Once Tumblr heard of it, the SJW's weren't pleased when hearing how said brony website was making a Steven Universe blog. They claimed it would defile Steven Universe like MLP with the bronies, nevermind the fact that it would already happen under a different group of spergs that was is the SJW's.How ironic, a mostly female fandom gatekeeping while screaming about male fans doing it.
That last image is so cringey. Do we really need to spell it out for the SU turds?: it's a KID, he knows SHIT about LGBT, all he cares about is games, movies and snacks, of course he doesn't have a problem with you because he DOESN'T KNOW BETTER.
See?, this is what I was talking about earlier, SU spergs twist the facts to accomodate them in their SU bubble. If something good happens "it was because of SU", if something bad happens "it was the bronies or the haters".
The only thing the guy has going for him is his warped reality of 2D cartoons; of course he's going to love something like this.
Dobson tried for a bit to get on SU's staff, but expected everyone else to do legwork for him. Couldn't even be assed to find where to send his "portfolio."Also, this happened:![]()
So, of course Dobson likes it.
Or maybe... just maybe... the kid liked that you also liked his fucking TV show.
... Maybe it's because I don't watch MLP aside from, like, one episode about three years ago when I was trying to figure out why the fuck it was so popular, but... it's just one character? Fuck, I don't think that many people even waifu'd Derpy since I'd always see Fluttershy or Dash or some shit.Having studied the Bronies a bit, I've come to a conclusion: The Bronies forcibly evicted the Tumblrinas from their zone of influence. He usually just makes videos of whatever is popular, right? I guess we're not getting an SU parody...I know they lost their shit when Max Gilardi made this

Just look up "hotdiggedydemon" in the tags in tumblr and see 15 year olds whine about a 27 year old.

Yes. A fandom war erupted over the name of some kids show character. The SJW's lost and from there, they'd have to go to greener pastures which Steven Universe provided, especially since it didn't have any sort brony equivalent staking a claim. They might of gotten into another fandom war with bronies over Steven Universe due to some brony blog trying to make a Steven Universe blog but I don't know if that occurred. There was a huge fandom war over this obscure character? Really?
The "Steven Jewniverse" joke wasn't even his in the first place, he did it as a nod to this video. Generally speaking, he only seems to make racist jokes when he knows it'll piss people off, since that's pretty much his entire public persona. Tumblr users are literally incapable of distinguishing this trolling from actual racism.I know they lost their shit when Max Gilardi made this

Actually, when you point out that it's a character, they usually go off into a rant about how "edgy white boy humor" isn't funny because it's not 2003. Yeah, the people who watch a cartoon that actually references this truly know humor:The "Steven Jewniverse" joke wasn't even his in the first place, he did it as a nod to this video. Ugh, Why did you have to bring this up? It just feels forced as all hell in this series.Actually, when you point out that it's a character, they usually go off into a rant about how "edgy white boy humor" isn't funny because it's not 2003. I tried looking up to see if there was any Sonic/SU crossover art and found that little gem (no pun intended.) Guess it says something about the kind of people making it. Did find some though:Perhaps they should have gone fast.
The SJW-saturated fandoms are the absolute worst when it comes to fanart. The SU fandom is insane when it comes to fan art. People freak the fuck out over Rose Quartz (a character who is more curvy than fat) being drawn as not morbidly obese. They also freak out over people giving Garnet too light of skin.
