Steven Universe - Now a Griefing Thread

You can really see the early stages of COTC in Onion Gang. It's like one of the only townie episodes with zero gem elements, not even a musical reference like how We Are the Working Dead in Sadie Killer is just We Are the Crystal Gems but in a different key. Anyway I can't find this supposed serialisation quote so I'm forced to concede (at least for now in the interest of not wasting more time) that I probably read the above quote from Craig years ago and it got mixed up in memory. Sorry again.
That’s cool. And yeah, looking back, the genesis of CotC can be traced right around Onion Gang.

To be fair, this wouldn’t be the first time CN took a show from its creator to fuck with it.
I feel really bad for Craig McKraken.

I saw a photo of him 2 years ago, taken from a /co/ anon and posted in the same day; his face is tired and have eye bags, more bigger than mine; the feeling when all that incident about Jake Goldman, the 4th Powerful Girl (the brown ugly appealing one) and now with the Joe Biden victory... man, i wish the best of his mental state.

We were talking about this in SJW Art & Extremes but I felt this thread was more relevant.

Anyway, based JLongbone.
I love JLongBone's videos

I personally wish the best for Craig, he's a really nice guy that doesn't deserve this treatment

Now to be fair, while I imagine years in industry have his toll on him in some way, his looks aren’t necessarily indicative. McCracken has always had a tired look on him, to the point he’s joked about being born with a sad panda face and all his animated caricatures have bags on them.

I know his self-insert in one of the original PPG episodes. But i'm sure those eye bags are worse now than before.

A bit ironic how they used the whitest-looking gem for this. I guess using Garnet would have been too on-the-nose.
Just as in the real world, why let people of color speak for themselves when you can have white people, who know better, do it for them in a condescending manner?

Are those all characters from different series? I recognize Stevonnie, but there's a lot of same face syndrome going on in that thumbnail.
The small blonde-ish female is from We Bear Bares and the small black boy is from some other shit, but neither of the larger, vaguely uncanny-valley looking ass theyliens are from anything as far as I know. Which might explain why their designs looks so fucking off and weird compared to the others, they were just made quickly for the ad, but jesus christ do they just look so subtly weird.

I don’t know how I forgot to post these pics that I saved from almost a couple of months ago, yet here we are.

The funny thing is that I noticed with that “pronouns” tweet, most of SU’s fans don’t even appreciate the fact that Stevonnie is being used as a figurehead for this ad, since most of the fused character’s characteristics is completely incompatible with children now fully realizing that they’re “non-binary”.

Yet Stevonnie is supposed to be portrayed as a teenager who’s not even a real fully teenage girl under the Crystal Gems’ magic.

The two theythems that aren't Stevonnie are tokens for the PSA's sake (aka they served their purpose and we'll never see both of them again). The black boy is Craig of the creek and the hoodie kid is Chloe from We Bare Bears (who's oddly the target demographic for this PSA because she's a 10 year old college student).

It's funny because it's true.

Back when I was on tumblr for fun (who has fun anymore amirite?) there was a SU commentary blog that had an anonymous ask him, "HELP my friend who's kin with Jasper saw the new episode where she stole those gem monster gems and my friend is talking about suicide! What do I do?!!?!?!" and he (rightfully) told them, "whoa holy shit don't ask me, there's nothing I can do. Call 911 if your friend is that upset!" because what the fuck is some internet stranger going to do?

That's what she should've done: NOTHING. Becky really fucked herself and her vision up with her desire to please everyone and still couldn't do it 100% in the end. Crazies were crazy before SU and without getting professional help, they're going to keep being crazy after SU. That's an SJW for you: twisting themselves into knots over literal whos' feelings when those literal whos wouldn't do the same for them. 🚬

Everyone remember that "Dark Dungeons" Jack Chick tract where the girl playing D&D killed herself because her character died in the game? Remember how much Liberals laughed at that saying that was a totally unrealistic portrayal of role-playing and that no one besides a hysterical, hyperreligious Conservative would believe that such a thing could ever happen?

I wonder why we haven't seen a backlash against the "Kin" community. I know that the Evangelical Right is pretty much dead, but I do wish there were something in its vein that would look at modern cartoons and say "These are fucking our kids up, yo. Maybe we should, like, protest that or something."

This is giving me serious Annie Wilkes vibes; this should be raising some crimson colored flags for Sugar, not making her go “Aw poor baby, how can I help?”

Although given how Jasper was handled disappointed everyone, what was the point in Sugar bringing this up?

There are so many horror stories like this involving other characters. I remember one SU Critical blog that constantly bashed Pearl because said crit was projecting her and her abusive mother on Amethyst and Pearl respectively. These people need counselors, not animators.

Though a lot of modern content creators are partially at fault for enabling this behavior. So many writers and artists constantly shift their own story to accommodate and include everyone or invoke death of the author on themselves so they don’t invalidate headcanons. Some even take it to another extreme and try to be a buddy or psychiatrist to the fandom, with predictable results.

Some have theorized that many modern content creators emphasize with these crazy fandoms because they were in that place once, which opens up a whole can of worms.

I hate Steven Universe for pushing its political agenda onto children who don't give a slightest fuck about it. Almost all the kids in my school made fun of gays, bisexuals, retards etc. E;R said it better himself "Tumblr cares about what the characters represent then the actual characters. It follows the same formula every episode and there are still many plot holes that are still unexplained.
