Sometimes I sincerely wonder if that Steven Bomb thing is done solely because a) the guys are hacks who still have to draw the episodes inbetween or b) the interest of the show is so low, the bomb thing is a way to artificially increase interest in it.

I just assumed it was 'cause they had a bunch of episodes ready ahead of schedule. Whatever the case, IDT weekdaily episodes have been the norm since the mid-90s?

I haven't gotten that far into it (only 8 episodes) but I'm sad to say that don't really like it. The humor seems too immature for me, and Steven is kind of an autard. I hear it gets better, but right now, it's just not my cup of tea. I do like the backgrounds though, I think they're really well drawn.

Honestly, if it's not hooking you by episode 8, it might not be worth sticking with it. There's a very large, over-arching plot that they give you a little at a time, but unless you're able to relax and roll with what's going on when the show's just chilling and having a good time, you won't likely enjoy it too much.

Watch episodes 10, 12, 14, 16 & 17, 20, 24, 25, 26 & 27, 30, 32, 35, 36 & 37, 40, 44 & 45, 48 & 49 and 51 & 52. The rest of season 1 is basically filler and if you're not invested by that point, season 2 so far probably won't do anything for you either.

That really sounds a lot like the logic fans of Adventure Time spout, and my logic is "Would you sit down and watch two boring bad movies to get to the third one that starts to get good?". IE it's pretty weak logic and honestly comes off as that sort of sunk cost fallacy that people can fall into.

I don't think what they were saying necessarily conflicts with that. Kind of like saying "just watch the third movie, the first two don't have anything important".

Eh, it kind of does if you want to give a shit about that whole meta plot though considering the whole "tiny amount of megaplot buried under shit" thing this and other shows with its design pull. It really does scream sunk cost fallacy to me. Like it's the equivalent of going to a stadium after paying a good amount of money for tickets, watching your team explode into nuclear failure, the weather sucks, there's this young child screaming the whole game right in your ear, the food is shit, you get lost at one point, and then still stating that the stadium trip was worth it.

Also why would you sit your ass down to watch the first two "movies" and then go into a third, especially if you don't know of the improved plot hike?

Yeah, I'm sorry but you lost me. I have no idea what you're talking about now.

In short, isn't skipping the majority of the story counterintuitive to watching the show?

Not really. I mean, I don't know if I necessarily agree with the episode list as posted, but some episodes are more or less filler with some kind of character development or something, things that enrich the overall story, but aren't exactly necessary for understanding what's going on with the plot. Even without considering filler, many television shows are compartmentalized so that they can still be enjoyed if you happen to see an episode out of order, even if there's an ongoing storyline throughout the series.

I've got a friend who enjoys the show but she's only watched the "important" episodes and hasn't bothered with all the filler. There are some references you miss here and there but it's not like it significantly impacts the overall plot, because for the most part it's not like the references in the filler episodes have significant bearing on the greater plot.

. You should only be allowed to play ukulele if you are a fat hawaiian singing "somewhere over the rainbow".

*cough cough*

As for the show itself, while I'm not really feeling it so far (I've watched the first 4 or so episodes a few weeks ago), some of my favorite shows I've recently discovered are stuff I I couldn't get into at first (The Last Airbender, One Piece, Dexter), so by the very least I'd like to give it another shot in the near future. I really don't mind fillers or episodic material as long at it has character development or puts the characters in situations there wouldn't be time for if the show was too focused on just advancing the plot.

I guess it increases ratings, then? Maybe having something air every day increases your chances of tuning in.
