Steven Universe - Now a Griefing Thread

I heard there was some reeeee going on when Lars died, Steven revived him and he came back with pink skin. Since one of the show's creative staff confirmed him as Filipino, there are fans who are accusing the show of "whitewashing" the character's POC status. Also, does anyone think some of the newer Gems are kind of ugly?

The newer Gems being ugly is what I feel IMHO (and only IMHO!) to be the result of 2 things here:

1) The point the show is trying to make about being different from what's considered normal - which is just nonsense agenda talk, IMHO.

2) In the case of Aquamarine & Topaz (for major examples), the show's continued deteriorating art-style.

Sad, too - I was finally starting to hate Lars less, because these writers finally were working to make him less of a loser archetype... Too bad it involved so much unnecessary whining & crying, but whatever.

I don't mind it just because fusions, for the most part, are supposed to look weird. Fluorite is also made up of other outcast Gems so their imperfections just kind of add up.

Hmm honestly they tried very very hard to make people like lars, and I just did not care what happens to him. Even with him dying I just did not care, I still dislike everything single human side character (Beside greg, thou I would count him as a main character). It good that there was at lest like a few episodes straight of plot again, can't wait for the next 20 to all be filler about how the pizza lady sad or the mail man is sad, or something like that.

Greg is a good father figure - a respectable and lovable character amongst a sea of an otherwise forgettable / unlikable lot, honestly.

I thought he was going to be one of those diot dad types, but while he has his doofy moments, he's a great person.

Is it just me, or does any of this scream as weak-ass writing / taking the easy way out, just to create one -dimensional villains out of certain motherfuckers?? If so, this is why I have my issues with this show, right there.

It honestly feels like this was just pulled out of their ass just for the purpose of having a courtroom drama in their show about living space rocks. If they were smart, they'd at least have foreshadowed it or given us something to imply that it was a conspiracy and not just "But where were Pink Diamond's other soldiers?"

That's a relief - it's (just about) even crappier writing (than usual) than all those other little girl shows people obsess over, obviously enough.

Yeah... It really has been too much trouble, IMHO.

More and more, I don't know how well this show is going to be remembered, 5 - 10 (or 10+) years from after it ends. I can only hope more and more people see just how overrated it is with shite like this being easy enough to pick up on and being as weak / awful as it is.

I liked the cool kids to a degree, they're actually "cool" kids that aren't complete assholes. Sadie is also pretty cool and actually tries to be useful in shitty situations, I just wish she'd just move on from Lars tho, because he fucked her over way too many times.

Also, is anyone else bothered by the fact the CG's were made fodder by only 2 Homeworld gems? 2/3 of the gems are usually smart in a shit situation, but they got solo'd by one wand that Topaz easily took from Aquamarine. Pretty shitty fight.

The CGs and how effective they are are just as consistent as the show's plot and animation. I'm not surprised they nerfed them just to show off the new characters.
