Trust me, when Bismuth and Smokey both exist, these aren't the worst designs.
Bad? Yes. Lazy? No doubt about it. But to call them the worst would be a lie.

Bismuth is a design that very accurately reflects the real gem she's based off of and I think isn't bad. Smokey's meant to look weird because fusions are amalgamations of the characters that they're made of, and I think the context of the designs fits the character/s very well.
This looks like it'd be a footnote in a How to Draw Manga/Cartoons book addressing how to draw "cute" characters. The headshape is literally just a circle with the hair tacked onto it, and the lack of a nose is an awful choice considering this is the first Gem we've seen without it and it just looks terrible.

It really could be either way, but considering they've yet to fuck up the animation bad enough to omit entire facial features in close shots of characters, I'm willing to bet it's the designs.
They really would. All you'd have to do is give her some actual hair and bangs other than sharp shapes poking out of her head and it'd instantly improve her design. What stops Peridot from looking like shit is that she has those two locks of hair that hang down where her ears would be.

I can only hope the ending to this show is good enough - but I'm not holding my breath too much on that. Other than that, here's waving "good riddance" to this show, once it's over.
It's just... been too much trouble, IMHO.

Knowing Cartoon Network, it's that their scheduling is ass and that they've been delaying a show that should have been finished about half a year ago.
In all honesty, who knows at this point? We could get another "Summer of Steven" situation, or we could be getting their usual "bomb" bullshit. Or they might go for a third option.

Really this just makes me feel bad for the Crewniverse more than anyone else just because they put a lot of work into the show and Cartoon Network's just kind of jerking them around as much as they want. The fact that we get leak after leak and it's likely the Crewniverse doing it because they're frustrated is just ridiculous, I've never heard of a company that annoyed a production crew so badly with their poor treatment of their product that they just started releasing it themselves online.
