I've got a strong feeling that Spinel's "normal" state was designed as an afterthought.
Really? Looks like it was based off odd school Mickey once he lost a bit of the edge. Those heart things on her head were basically mouse ears.

The "community" is handling the movie well.
Theyre partially mad it seems because "this" was supposed to be the irredeemable villain that should have been such a token you couldnt relate or like them.

In a cartoon about forgiveness and love.

In a fucking show where the main character talks people out of their problems like a therapist.

They wanted Spinel to die. :story:

Personally, what I find a bit odd about Pink Diamond is how the SU fandom doesn't seem to get is that the pedestal was supposed to be broken, and the whole point of her character was that everyone is idealized and saw her better than what she really was.

Yet, you have people constantly pointing out how "Pink did a lot of questionable things and might just as well be considered the true villain of the show" as some kind of smart observation.

Given, Steven went from completely idolizing her and believing the hype, to accept she abandoned Spinel for 6 thousand years, shows that was the whole point.

Pretty sure Sugar is going heavy handed on PD being bad to get the point across. Could be a setup to reminding us of why she did some good.

Or she'll double down on her being bad because it was the gimmick of her show. She seems to take alot of pride in this plot element.

I only made it about 15 minutes in before tapping out. I'm not a SU fan, and I'm way less of a musical fan, so this was kind of like getting teeth pulled. But at the same time, if you like the show, you'll probably like this.

FTFY.

The Diamonds should have as big of a deathcount as Stalin does. If not higher. And look what happened there.

If anything, the Diamonds get a pass from their shown or implied bloodshed since we had whole episodes showing off how much they were sad over Pink Diamond so they just get a pass.

It was a genocidal galactic empire with a strict class system that practiced eugenics and slavery..... well, it was. They solved that pretty quickly. Perhaps autocracy with social justice characteristics works - the 3 year plan has fixed everything.

Anyone notice how the overall theme of the movie is some nod to the 20s/30s? Not only Spinel's Mickey Mouse design and Oswald story, but the new songs sound very similar to popular music of the time. The villain song sounds like a demented Minnie the Moocher.

It did end like a big stage play, didn’t it?

Their's load of little nods is the movie. It actually makes it quite enjoyable on the 2nd viewing. Whatever can be said of Rebecca's writting a lot of her work is a love letter to animation and musicals in general.

The arrival of incest Chad thundercock was a delight.View attachment 929550

He counsts for about 95% of the testosterome in this series.

Not the shitty "Work sucks! I want to be disobedient!" song
