Steven Universe - Now a Griefing Thread

The characters were annoying, the art style was ugly, the messages were obnoxious, the songs overrated, and the story was a complete mess.

Although I do enjoy the series, I totally get your criticism, honestly. Once you understand the kind of people that are making this show are very left-leaning, it all makes sense. I will comment on two, for now.

Once you get that, It becomes obvious that the style is made intentionally ugly to promote a body-positive message.

The main character is a fat kid, and the gems usually have ugly exaggerated lips or are too fat/thin/short, or manly. I can count on my fingers the characters that are traditionally beautiful, and I would have fingers left. The fact the caracters are ugly cute, at best, and just ugly at worst, is not an accident. It was 100% intentional.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing them for some of their bad designs, just pointing out that this was no coincidence.

As for the message being obnoxious, well for a woke series it surprisingly not preachy I give them that... Except for Sunstone, I do find that gem very obnoxious giving obvious messages like "Remember kids bullying is bad". As if that would stop bullies Honestly, even Sesame Street would be embarrassed by that.

I mean it's like saying "stealing is bad. Don't steal kids!" You don't say.

Like, I've said it many times before the style is intentionally ugly to promote a body-positive message. The main character is a fat kid, and the gems usually have ugly mouths or are fat. I can count on my fingers the characters that are traditionally beautiful, and I would have fingers left.

Sunstone is intentionally invoking the whole 90’s “cool” mascot that taught obviously lessons. The overly preachiness is kinda the point. It’s like “Sonic Sez” or how the American dub of Sailor Moon had those “state the moral” PSAs at the end.

Oh, I get that, just saying that I personally don't like her, and I find her obnoxious, which is my point.

I didn't know SU could get even worse after the last season. And I was so wrong.
Every part of it from tiny to big just doesn't work, like, at all. Sadly, it's so bad it can't even crawl to the "so bad it's good" territory.

One of the worst shows in recent years.

Glad it came to an end.

The characters were annoying, the art style was ugly, the messages were obnoxious, the songs overrated, and the story was a complete mess.

It had everything I hate all packaged within this terrible show and turned certain people I found mildly annoying into people I cannot freaking stand.

I said why....

This is something I can’t stand about SU fans also, you can give reasons why you don’t like it and they still go “wHy dOn’T YoU LikE It?! PlEaSe GiVe ReAsOnS!”

Writing became borderline retarded: everyone lost even the smallest glimpse of personality, while messages got even more ham-fisted. This is not light hearted slice-of-life comedy, it's more like a day with a SpEd class, where everyone tries to eat glue. Steven is a moody hypocritical cunt, Pearl is keep fixating on Rose, everyone else is just white noise you wish you didn't hear. The serial itself screeching at you how much of a literal Hitler Rose is, simultaneously shrugging off the real physical harm she inflicted on the pink Pearl. "Aw, honey, it's okay she beat the shit out of me, damaging both physically and mentally. Now I understand Rose better, so it's totally ok to treat me like shit :)". Progressive my ass.

Edit:
Also, they're just a bunch of Mary Sue's at this point, getting solution to everything right from the air.

Is it me or is Steven turning into a grumpy insensitive asshat with his newfound age? I get that he's growing up but just because you're more mature doesn't mean you have to be a goddamn killjoy towards your friends. I wonder if it's intentional.

I assume it's to do with pink's rage and who knows maybe it will tie into Spinel hitting him with the reset gem scythe and pink is going to reform in some way but in her default mode. (That pink white diamond in the intro maybe, that would have been what she was meant to be if she wasn't babied by the other diamonds.) Perhaps we will see full tard rage pink starting up the non-gem genocide factories again.

Not just you, glad I'm not the only one seeing he is getting worse.

Also despite him, ironically, changing due to "growing up", I still find him unable to actually outgrow his childhood. He basically became a NEET, that's just refusing to let go of his kid adventures.

All main villains are defeated at this point.

I mean homeworld school makes sense, I guess, but is it really all he is going to do? No plans for getting a job or earning money besides getting money from his millionaire dad?

Those gems seem to acclimate to earth really fast, doesn't take them even a month, so it's not like he is giving 5-year college courses or something, and other gems can easily take over. Gem school really can't be all he does for life.

I don't outright hate SU, but future feels like it's trying to clean up the mess left by its prequel. For one the "rose bad" messages and pink pearl episode should have been in the original series, finding out that she had violent outburts a la Steven's saiyan mode as opposed to just a spoiled unempathetic princess came out a left field and shouldnt have been resolved 5 yrs (in show time) later.

Steven's new powers also feel like unnecessary addition, we've seen from the spinel movie that he can fight just fine, if this was the crew's response to fans complaining that he doesn't fight then it came too late and hamfisted since it really came out of nowhere. It was also a dumb way to resolve Jasper's arc, I was hoping she could have been this show's Azula and tried to recreate her a new gem empire (which she kinda did I guess), but nope all she really wanted was a sparring partner.

And some of the humor just seems more corny than ever. Though this could be more subjective.

Basically it should have more revisiting, less revising.

I'm surprised the wokeratti didn't have a complete chimp out at the episode where Steven tried forcing queerness on the other gems and got smacked down for being an asshole.

Oh c'mon, like they would make that kind of connection from the episode. The moral lesson was really hamfisted though (that being of course "Don't make people do something aren't comfortable with").

Can anyone answer me how is this show still going? I was surprised how long the original went (and not being subtle about it, with all the filler that would make DBZ blush) but make a sequel series? From what I have been told, the finale was awful but it still "concluded" things (not that there was ever that much to conclude, the plot is shit). The movie felt like a decent way to cap it off. But no, aparently there is MOAR to mil- I mean, tell...

seriously, why keep torturing us like this? Its aparently either more of this or Teen Titans Go...
Either way, we lose. :)

This is one of Steven Universe crew. Considering to this that fact that """""he""""" weighs like a whale, how much you will give """""him"""""? For me, if ''''he''' will go (and i will not be surprised at all if '''''he''''' will) with breast removing and putting a meat sausage (that ''''he''' will have to shave, even the tip) i give '''''him''''' 4 years before fully realizing what a fucking mistake '''''he''''' did, and after that, 2 years before '''''he''''' will do a flip

On one hand, I'm shocked because Amber gave off the air that she loves women too much to ever consider becoming a icky yucky man. On the other hand, this is the same crazy who made that LAUGHABLY EMBARASSING comic about how she felt miserable right after Donny T became president. (People thought the imfamous Lauren Zuke drew it but no, it was Amber. Working on cartoons makes your art styles emulate said show so it can be hard to source stuff drawn by crew members.)

Easy: The almighty dollar says who shall live and who shall die. While obviousl kids aren't watching this crap, adults are. And adults have the money and slightly more vocal power than kids have too. The networks would never admit that ugly truth. The same ugly truth that Becky Sugar, being protected by her bisexuality and status as CN's 1st woman showrunner, would make them look grotesque in the eyes of the cartoon feminist crowd if they shitcanned her for poor ratings.

Or people actually like it and keep watching, we all have guilty pleasures. :/

I would say this show is surviving on the same way MLP FiM did all those years, but even MLP knew when to end it (after 9 seasons but it closed the book before it got too stale even for its audience). Steven Universe feels like a "roach" show, like TTG, it refuses to die. But at least you can say MLP and TTG are easy to make...Steven Universe doesnt seem as much.
Besides, what is there to watch? More awful people being awful people but that the show pretend its not awful because the creator has a weird moral sense? More humans, especially white males, being either stupid or evil ? Trust me, Steven's father is the ultimate "dumb white male" there is, he makes Homer seem like an amazing father figure.
I mean think about it.
"I had sex with a rock, wont question how thats possible, now I have an alien son who I have no interest in actually raising it myself and instead will leave with the rock space lesbians that no one properly questions their existence. That way he wont have any resemblence of a major father figure in his developtment. I prefer living in this van like a fat nobody anyway!"
and Steven really doesnt fall far from the tree...
