Steven Universe - Now a Griefing Thread

In the show? Pearl, Lapis, Jasper, Blue Diamond and Spinel in that order.
In general? Dozens. If you include anime and manga? THOUSANDS.

Steven has suffered, but not the most. Not even more than any other character including the fucking townies. He had every aspect of this project dedicated to him and he wound up being the most milqutoast piece of magic space glass installed in a mortal emotional wreck ever. Tough break little dude, at least Tumblr loves you (until they find an excuse to hate you again).

I'm not saying the character hasn't suffered. He has. But when someone goes and says "has no other character suffered as much as this guy" that's when I disagree.
Never forget that if you think your life sucks, someone somewhere has a suckier life than you. That's why nobody can ever pass the purity test. It's better to not compare and work to make your life stop sucking if you can.

Blue Diamond's grief was selfish since she didn't even understand WHY Pink had killed herself until Steven came along and was wallowing in her personal loss and neglecting her responsibilities. In the process, everything the Diamonds did (including Pink leaving all her baggage for Steven to deal with) ended up dropping on Steven's shoulders like 50 ton weights. I don't think that really compares to Kiki Pizza being burnt out at work lol.

But now I'm power-levelling, so let's agree that Twitter is terrible for discussion and leave it at that.

This ain't even a contest, man.

Truthfully not many modern cartoons have had good endings. Hopefully that will change soon.
I've mentioned this before, but IMO a lot of it comes from the creators preferring emotional logic when crafting a story and it seems like they conclude things when it's climactic emotionally rather than logically in the regular sense. I've liked all three conclusions to SU (OG/Movie/Future), but y'know the one thing they all have in common? Pacing issues.

Truth. Ah well, at least his world isn't fucked seven ways from Sunday with no magic to fix it.
I really liked Star Vs. back in the day since I was one of those who watched it day one. Just wacky, nonsensical adventures that were light hearted and that was the charm of it. Then it became nothing but shipping and while it was tolerable at first, we all know how shitty it became over time. Now it seems the only reason to remember the show is the genocide ending and Hekapoo lewds.

It'll always be an example for me of what happens when you put shipping above all else. The worst part is that the showrunner implied they may not end up together in the long term which makes the ending doubly insulting.

So combining different dimensions together and genocide was worth a relationship that may not last. So the finale was pointless?
