Ovarit always seemed incredibly astroturfed to me by the actual administration.

My impression was that over time the userbase started to grow more rightleaning, they were still very feminist still but they started to doubt things like immigration, gays, DEI, Covid.

Comments were often deleted when they advocated for harsher sentences for rapists and murderers, when they were questioning mainstream narratives on non-tranny topics or for example mentioned the farms because Doxxing!

Their administration also was staunchly against slurs like tranny or troon, they still tried their fucking "be nice" approach.

Leftist women just can not fuckign help themselves, all that talk about not centering men and they are still whimpy doormats.

Unless they learn to be unapologetically cruel and vindictive they will never get anything done

I went to Ovarit a week or two ago for the first time in maybe a year and what struck me immediately was how slow it had become. It was pretty much dead, the front page threads were slow and old, not a lot of upvotes, very few comments, whatever the reason that site just died out. All the extra bullshit that comes with running a radfem site sucks enough as is (dealing with tranny complaints etc), but when your userbase has become that small it must be real demoralizing to put up with it for less and less reward. I don't blame the admin for calling it quits, they say running a forum is a thankless job, well, it's even more thankless when hardly anybody uses it.

The thing is though, from what I've seen the global Internet TERF discourse has only increased in volume, just not there. Maybe they all went to Twitter or maybe even KF, or some other site I don't know about. It's always sad when a website goes down, especially since the admin is just nuking everything.

that's rough. ovarit was a seethe generator and the only radfem space I actually knew of online. huge crossover between ovarit posters and KF users, if even somewhat begrudgingly. net negative that they're closing it down, but online TERF presence is up in general since then I think, so it's not all bad. feels like it might have done its part.

In case anyone is wondering, back in the early early days of the forum, transgenders were this sort of oddity that nobody took seriously. It was just a quirky thing. @introman was the first person I knew to identify correctly that transgenderism was not just a mental illness and sexuality, but some sort of quasi-networking thing. He would talk about how all the trannies knew each other and everyone genuinely thought he was insane for years until it broke through to mainstream. The ratking was basically about trannies, but it was this naive perspective that their reach was limited to their little group.
