Stop Killing Games (EU edition) - Moldman vs. Publishers

Let's try and unfuck the internet before we start worrying about saving an industry that's been in free fall for the last decade and a half, eh?
Why not care about both instead? That's rhetorical.

This is not just about videogames, it's another step into fighting for basic consumer rights.

Or what, are you going to wait some decades, centuries before you start fighting for them? These people want this process as slow as it can be, that way they can maximize profits with less effort, for as long as they can.

If anything, there should be more initiatives and these types of things, because that way they'll finally get that who they deemed as a sheep, has now started to take their rights seriously.
Now the only problem with this, is that there is indeed a lot of sheep, and that is proven with something mentioned earlier, that sloptubers were needed to make the gears move considerably.

I mean, if you want to protect modern AAA slop, that's on you. The industry is in freefall. It's dying. Let it die. Why should I give a shit about an industry that's stopped giving a shit about me as a consumer a long time ago?

"Don't do anything" good to know you've got a really clear vision of how to go about it then. You don't have to like the output of the industry to understand that corporations having the ability to destroy a product you paid for is bad. I don't own a John Deere tractor, and yet I think that you should have the right to repair it, because I understand the implications of not being able to control the things you own.

then dont, you sound like a bitch that got pump and dumped.

let the grown men deal with shit that we bought and are supposed to own because 40 years ago none of this shit happened, you bought something it was yours, i hope euros can force companies to work exactly like that, i bought it, it's mine.

Extremely stupid take. Those are two completely different problems and have different sets of people who care about them.

You don't have to care about it, you can go ahead and unfuck the internet while we do our thing. You've got it, champ.

So, counting and verification will, probably, take a few weeks. What's gonna happen later? Scheduling for the hearings or something else?
They have max 3 months to filter out all invalid signatures.
May 2026 latest does the EU have to submit a bill.
They can debate and delay the bill as much as they want.
Contents of the bill aren't set by the initiative, it just has to be "reasonably" close to the initiative.

Ross has posted a more optimistic wrap-up video.
i was going to post that, thanks.
but all that us, non eu people can do now is wait.

They will just add a "game forever playable" sticker to every game that comes out after the law. Like how they put "dermatologically tested" on every salve. Of course it's tested, else it wasn't allowed to be sold.
I wonder if the EU bigwigs would be brazen enough to claim only 999,999 signatures were valid.
They don't have to pass a law based on this petition. They can just say that they're concerned about the viability of the videogame industry if they put up these restrictions and then pass no law.

Even if EU ends up doing nothing, it is still a "win" since that means that there is nothing we can do to legally stop the games from being killed. That opens up less than legal means to save the games, that includes piracy, since there is nothing left to lose. Just like Ross says, as long as everyone involved gave their all, that's all that can be expected of them.

Frankly, I hope the entire industry burns, I would rather have no new games be created than the old ones be killed outright.

I agree with ross a mask off "fuck you, you don't own anything and we can take it away whenever we want" is preferable than the ratty situation we have now. But i just wanted to say that the EU doesn't have to lie about the votes. They can just say no.

I thought of August next year, so, it's shorter than my prediction. And I think Ross approached it from the right angle - customer's rights.
And a bit of off-topic - I hate the word consumer. It equates in my head with fatties endlessly devouring everything. I'm a customer, I pay for the product I will use

A customer is someone who buys something, a consumer is someone who uses a product. They're not the same. For example a mom buying candy is a customer, but her child is the consumer.
