An update: On February 23, organisers of the initiative will be meeting with EU commission, Ross is barred from attending it, though, but will attend the post meeting press conference. More news to come soon.

I lol'ed when I found out that a boy had more foresight about his game than big publishers
He's just using simpler networking, and he doesn't have to pay for servers himself this way. Big companies wire everything to a server they own to control everything. Wouldn't want a private server to hand out your MTX for free.

I suppose I don't really expect governments to be fast but it's funny that months later they're still at the counting signatures phase I thought was done ages ago.
The EU is infamously slow insofar as anything even tangentially related to the government is concerned.

You're still assuming it's incompetence rather than malice.
To be fair, given the quality of nudevs its likely a mixture of both.

SKG Press Conference footage

I did watch it and it was just repeat of the previous points. I guess they just wanted to show off new faces tk the masses. Well at least non of them seem to be old ass boomers.
And repating the points will be the theme here i sense until corpos will come up with the new strategy other than "misunderstand" the movement

i mean moldman's last video literally hinted at the movement splitting into many tendrils to fuck these corpo scum.
and i'm all up for it, fuck 'em, they had no reason to do any of this, i just wanted to play my videogames.

I commented on the video on youtube but I will put my 2 cents here as well.
The minimum THE BARE MINMUM companies should be forced to do is not to remove lan or networking from games they plan to shut down or to fuck the code so the game will stop working DELIBERATELY. If we can't get even that we basically are cooked and we should just pack it up and go home ... fuck >_<
PS: I stopped buying games years ago just an FYI (after the D3 launch - take that as you may) but it's the principle of the thing.

Another game bites the dust.

Even got a e-mail, game has been active since 2013 or 2012 in russia, while russian version has zero mentions of shutting down this means only the international version will be killed, so...
since the main company is in amsterdam, could this death be used as example? hell, even highguard death could be used as example case too, at least one good thing that piece of shit game did was being a good example of games dying and everything being lost...

i dont think so
if what they say is true people will be able to access the game and they are keeping the servers up

And the game is free to play, not really in the line of sights of SKG, since you didnt pay for the ability to play the game.

EDIT: it does seems like the game is slowly shutting down, first with payments, then a full game shutdown in may. Its just broken english.

the news says the game will be killed.
News said:
  • What will happen to the game on Steam, Epic Games Store, or other PC platforms?
The game will be removed from digital stores. It may remain visible in the libraries of players who previously installed or added it, but it will not be playable after the servers are shut down. Offline or local game modes are not available.

being free or not is not the point of SKG, it's being online, the crew holds a special bar because it was a paid online game in which people felt damaged by the server shutdown (which ubislop quickly found a way to keep it running offline)

i still think it fits the definition of reasonably playable
i do understand why they want to remove it from the store - so the servers that they dedicated to it can keep up with the population
its not like the crew when it is just gone and no one play it in any state
