I don't really want to go looking for the references as its an unsavoury subject but i remember when i was at uni we did a case study on various 'ethical' jurisprudence issues and our group got the concept of 'consent'.
I won't bore you all with the finer details about the interplay between capacity to consent and right to independence however I think it would be interesting to point out something in the arguements coming from kayla and friends on the subject.
The first point is that the main excuse is that there is only 3 years between them- they ignore that the reason that we restrict the ability of minors to consent is not that their bodies are incapable but that their minds are less mature and so the elder partner will always hold a dominant position which warps the normal balance of power between the partners. The issue is not that she is 19, its that she is an adult. I think we've discussed this already and only mention it for completeness.
The second arguement is 'but they're in love' or 'but she's not abusive' or 'their happy tho' these arguements rest on the foundation of sand that is our first post however what i wanted to highlight was that this is, to anyone who has ever had the misfortune of encountering a pedo defending themselves exactly the arguement pedophiles have been trying to argue for years. We see the same denial and dissonance in the scarlet rose thread. She has a lot in common with moderniceirlorwhatev and i think we should keep a closer eye on mod as its from her many of the more stupid/disgusting comments have come and she has been pretty constant in maintaining the hugbox.
Their condescending morally superior tone while advancing the arguements of pedophiles and racists is as amusing as it is obnoxious and only makes their delusions all the funnier!
