Valve Cracks down on far-right Nazi groups and they've been ignoring the religious right for decades.
They were probably bending over for what they thought were sjws.
Of course, morality in media are sjws but that's besides the point.
Well, small but crucial difference here.
MIM are, at heart, still fundie loons, and while Valve might cuck themselves to SJWs, MIM's SJW veneer is paper thin, they practically tipped their hand the second they started their victory dance in which they revealed their motive was typical fundie loon BS.
Even their choice of targets was pretty suspicious. Sure, Huniepop was an SJW target, but it weathered the storm and the SJWs generally gave up after it printed too much money for Valve to sacrifice a pot of gold just to please some dangerhairs.
The rest of their choices were also practically giving away the real motive. "Mutiny" was a huge red flag, as it's basically "cis woman has sex with transgender furries: The Game", and SJWs would be crucified if they went after something like THAT.
The low hanging fruit these fundie assholes picked was very stupid on their part and when the actual SJWs started bitching, Valve probably put two and two together, took a closer look at MIM's current guise, realized they'd been had, and decided to walk back their BS.
