Suggestion and Update Thread

I feel like a better solution to your issue there would be to do something like the following; truncate quotes that are too long down into some sort of message directing the user to the original post. I'd argue this is preferable to your current "solution" of just outright preventing quoting of large posts.
If you have something to reply to, quote it. There is never any case where you need to quote the entire post. making it easier, as Null did, solves the long post "bug" issue entirely

Hasn't this been around for a while? I have been using it since I joined the forum a month ago. Really useful Mr Moon, king of the bitch niggers.

The problem with your current implementation is that many users think it's a "reply bug", and respond to these large posts through methods such as simply @ing the original poster. This makes conversations harder to follow, and often results in people spending screen real-estate complaining about the "reply bug".
That was before the ability to select parts of a long comment to reply to. Now that you get the reply/quote option for highlighted snippets, no one [who has actually read of this improvement] will [need to] do that.

Truncating to a link/reference to an entire comment sucks for readers almost as much as using an @, because it's an extra click to see what post the reply addresses. Jersh's solution is more elegant and improves quality of comments by serving as a mechanism to shove dumbasses toward being at least somewhat focused. Theoretically, anyway.

That is, of course, only if they think to use it. This isnt guaranteed.

I'm suggesting both the new quote system and a truncated post nub being implemented simultaneously to avoid edge cases.

The next feature you need to add is an image gallery so you can quickly go through all images and videos posted in a thread. Or something more simple like a list of all attachments in a thread. It's a huge pain in the ass to track stuff down sometimes and that would help a lot.

This make me think: what would be a neat feature to keep people from reposting the same image over and over in the images threads because they can't be bothered to read the last few posts before posting, is to make feature similar to the "Has this topic already been covered?" suggestions that come up when you start to make a new thread, but instead it uses an AI similar to reverse GIS that analyzes any image you upload to your post and looks for similar images in the same thread. If it finds a match it'll tell you and put the image side by side like Tineye.com does so you can compare the two images and decide if you're going to post it anyway. This may be completely infeasible or not worth the effort but it's just an idea I had.

Yes, but it wasn't possible on long posts for whatever reason until now.
If you wanted to quote a long post prior to this change, you'd have to manually create the quote in the editor and this wouldn't have a easy to click link attached to it unless you put in the autistic effort using bbcode.

This actually rocks. quoting the entire post and then manually trimming out everything I wasn’t directly replying to so I don’t bloat up the thread was pretty annoying. Good job 🚫:dienull:🚫

ok.

Attention "bitchniggers",

In certain contexts, you will see white-out buttons like this:

These buttons mean you can quote in that thread and board, but you cannot quote this entire post. There's 3 reasons why:
  • Community Happenings thread does not allow quote-replying to stop people from doing so accidentally.
  • No OP of any thread can be quote-replied to. You're posting in the thread, so it is already obvious you're replying to that post.
  • Very long posts cannot be quote-replied in full.
For those instances, there is still a way to quote-reply to a specific part of the post. Simply highlight what you're replying to.

You can then reply to this directly in the reply box as normal.

This feature also works with the multi-quote system, so you can reply to individual parts of multiple large posts at once.

Once you use +Quote, you then click this button on your post editor.
