He’s not wrong here. But it is hard trying to find a suitable medium for both sides. So we have to stick with one of the two.I actually think removing the sticker notifications will be good for the health of the forum in the long term.
Notification systems give a shot of dopamine that acts as a reward for "good" (read: popular) posts. Social media sites know this and maximise the effect of it with icons, sound effects, and phone popups, and the result of this is those sites becoming insufferable because they've been taken over by attention-seekers desperate for updoots like a junkie craving his next hit. No-one's interested in discussing nuance or elaborating on their opinions, they just package it up in an oversimplified, almost slogan-like statement that everyone else will pat them on the back for, because that's what the system incentivises.
This forum doesn't have this exact issue, but it's not uncommon for posts that get featured on the front page to be immediately followed by pages on end of empty nothing-posts reciting an almost identical opinion on the matter as the one prior - which pings from positive reaction stickers encourage. I feel like a lot of politisperging gets rewarded because of them too, posting ">she" or "ywnbaw" in every thread that involves a troon is basically just spam at this point, but it's an efficient way to get positive stickers for little effort if you're that way inclined.
Reaction stickers themselves have a place since they let us give simple responses to posts like "I agree" or "you have autism" without needlessly clogging up the thread, but having the little icon at the top telling us we've been a good boy can bring out the worst in people. I feel like the current system is a good compromise (although maybe put the number of each sticker back to normal, maybe a bit optimistic on my part but I'd like to think someone out there will see a high number of dumb/MATI reacts and think "I've been kind of a retard lately, maybe I should tone it down").
i think notifications for things like late posts would be good same for anything deemed to be power leveling since that is generally important info for someone to have easier access to. as nice is it is to have instant access to reactions it is not really useful unless it is either informative or promotes a healthy conversation. He’s not wrong here. Maybe send notifications for bad reactions? i don’t know
Shitposting aside this is actually a suggestion I don't hate. The "Fresh Meat" indicator was useful, and I think there is a good way to bring it back without it being a forced user subtitle and without it being annoying.

Right now the only three widgets that can show up in this popup are the post count, reaction score and referrals. Fresh Meats cannot send referrals so they'll always have just the post count and the reaction score with a massive empty space in-between.
This seems like the perfect spot to put the Fresh Meat title at. It's always in the center of that wasted space, it doesn't conflict with anything, and it's in the hover popup where the join date is where people complained that "the join dates are gone" because they weren't always visible and hovering/tapping on that username is too much work for those people so fuck it, why not? The function for the Fresh Meat status is clearly ready since it got quickly reimplemented as a dimmed username, the new reaction score function got added there rather quickly too, so surely it's not that difficult to do.

try a little crispy crackarooski insteadwhat about people who shamelessly admit it's for a dopamine rush, where dowethey fit into all of this?
oh yeah also null i mentioned in another thread that you could give ratings a cooldown as well as a confirmation which requires loading a new page for every single rating.try a little crispy crackarooski instead
