Suggestion and Update Thread

I get that running TOR is mostly used as a fallback and that it has introduced some problems to the site in the past but is there a chance of get the website to load on I2P as well as TOR? About 4 months ago Dread came under attack by a rather well-known hacker around these parts that uses DDoS attacks running on the TOR layer without hitting web servers in order to extort money from popular websites (You can read the post by Dread's admin on the issue here) (And also how they made a workaround here)

While I don't think we are in direct and immediate danger as KF is not a marketplace nor an index for marketplaces, I wouldn't put it past insane individuals trying to hire him or otherwise make contact with him or other individuals with similar MO's to keep the site down, something that could be mitigated by having I2P as an emergency fallover.

Tor on Android seems to be 'tarded about long clicks, effectively limiting the 'like' button to just like (hovering works fine on PC, but I'm frequently a mobilefag).

Is there any chance of making the modality of the 'like' button/selector a user option?

Would it be possible to add a button/link on the clearnet fallback which could let you quickly jump to the corresponding tor url? It would be helpful for quickly fixing old URLs without manual text fiddling.
Something simple, like
JavaScript:
var onion = new URL(location.href);
onion.hostname = "kiwifarmsaaf4t2h7gc3dfc5ojhmqruw2nit3uejrpiagrxeuxiyxcyd.onion";
location.assign(onion);
on a somewhat hidden "Already on Tor? Click here to fix URL" link would be nice.
(yes i know i can just userscript it, this would be nice In General)

Would it possible to make the "new thread" categories to the right collapsible?

I have the Thunderdome collapsed because a lot of the stuff there is hardcore doomer fuel that I'm easily distracted by, so I prefer not to look at it. Unfortunately I still see every single new thread posted there whether I want to or not when I scroll down, and it distracts me even more than Thunderdome being open did. I'm trying my best to just not look at it anyways, but I think the suggestion's worth posting so here I am.

Stealth mode seems to load a little faster because it doesn't have to load avatars, if we're going to stay tor for much more I'd love an option to disable avatars without having to be on light mode.
Honestly I'd like to toggle off avatars regardless because a lot of them are visually distracting gifs and it gets so irritating at times I skip reading a post if an annoying avatar is on the screen.

Would love to have more prefixes in the A&N section: country flags (Germany, France, Ukraine, Africa, Turkey, ...) and tags like "Health", "Economy", "Gender" (or something similar), "Web", "Future", "Technology", "Lifestyle"...
And a tag for "Interview" would also be great. And one for "net policy".

I agree, and would like to use the opportunity to once again ask for a dark version of the stealth style. I would love to be able to browse the farms in a less attention grabbing way but the searing white brightness of it makes it hard to use. A simple flip to a dark grey like the default theme would be enough to make it tolerable.

You can probably replace it with custom css or, more easily, just use an extension that does it automatically.

Can we move the Kiwifarms hate-watch threads out of lolcow and into internet famous? They don't do anything funny, they don't do anything horrifying. The threads just exist for the similar cross-section of posters on the site to wish death on the particular figure.

Which threads are hate-watch?

Create a KiwiFarms Lemmy instance? Lemmy is an open-source federated forum/aggregation software that people are comparing to reddit right now because of the whole mod drama, but I actually see it more as what it tries to be, which is forum software.

Could Null make a Lemmy instance that pulls information from threads on the KiwiFarms? Users wouldn't post to the Lemmy instance, but it would just essentially be an archive or another way of viewing content from the KiwiFarms. Because it's federated, it would also, depending on how it's set up, be easier to evade outright censorship, like from CloudFlare or other assorted Internet infrastructure tyrants.

This could also make the KiwiFarms site content easier to scrape and archive, if that is a goal of the site.

A tag/flare/badge for people who were too stupid/lazy to use tor during June 2023. Run a script that checks user activity. Logic would be something like:

If user was viewing any page on the forum at least once a day for three out of the seven days* of the final a week before the site went off clearnet,
And user did not view any page on the forum during the time it was only on tor,
And user was actively viewing any page on the forum through the mirror site on at least once a day for three days* within two weeks of the mirror site going up,
Then user receives badge of shame
Else do nothing.
Badge could be temporary.

*I put in arbitrary conditions than sound about right. Feel free to replace these with better conditions.

People keep asking why the quote and reply options in large posts are unavailable. I recommend changing the tooltip text to something like "POST TOO BIG. HIGHLIGHT WORDS YOU WANT QUOTE THEN HIT BUTTON COME UP."

Don't know if this has already been suggested but I'd like a "highlight only" feature for watching threads so you only get updated when an unread post gets highlighted.
