Suggestion and Update Thread

I don't, but I don't see why it matters. Who gives a shit what websites I go to? Does it really affect your opinion of me that I would ever visit this particular drop of shit in the Internet? If so, is your opinion really worth considering? I'm really sorry that I've lost Internet cool points with you, but seriously, get over yourself and your cliques.

Well, it is kind of relevant when you state that KYM mixed with ED is your plan for the future.

I like Null's ideas for the future. This forum already has a history of not tolerating shitposters so I'm not too worried about attracting more of them.

Besides, one of these days CWC is going to fade away. He could be placed into an adult care center with limited internet access. Or he could die from an infected taint. Who knows? The point is, we're going to have to move on eventually anyway and I'd rather not see this community cease to exist just because Chris does.

Going with coster's suggestion, I don't either. As long as the sections are based on people/groups that are relevant, I'm fine with it.

Realize I'm tired after the gym, I might be coming off as extra-aggressive and hateful or whatnot.

Can we have a News and Current Affairs sub forum in Off Topic please?

It bothers me how nobody ever seems excited for new stuff. Nobody ever suggestions a direction we can go in. It's always an obstructionist stance against every new idea

We give you lots of new ideas for improving what's already here rather than branching out, but that's not your priority. And you obviously made the decision quite a while ago that your priorities are what the forum's priorities will be.

I was in the middle of writing a little bit of a ceding of ideals (I'm worn out from the gym, I might not be thinking very straight) but then I saw how you think mixing KYM with anything is better than being neo-ED. How you think KYM is in any way more respectable than ED is staggering.

A "know-your-lolcow" would be just as autistic as CWC, if not more. At that point I'd prefer this to just turn in to ED. Endless piping about shit no one cares about is better than detailed analysis of lolcows and their le epic maims.

My original argument wasn't exactly worded right. Athough I feel like the primary focus should always 100% be on CWC and no one else, actually popular lolcow people and fandoms can reasonably be expected to have temporary section as they grow in popularity, and killed off when they're out of the public eye.

Basically, I would just really advise against going in the direction of "this is the lolcow general hub" and maybe more of a "this is the hub for current lolcows that are active, but with a huge focus on Chris". I didn't think you meant our new direction as a general lolcow hub until you actually mentioned KYM in a positive light.
If we ever get to the point where we are trying to decide between making this forum Neo-ED or Neo-KYM, it's fucked.

Just because I don't think your ideas are good doesn't mean I'm uninterested in refining the current scope of the website. Your most recent idea was to throw all the Lolcow boards into single threads and dump it into the main one. It was such an uninspired suggestion I thought it was satire.

I didn't realize KYM was a buzzword that caused autists to want to cave my skull in with a hammer, so please grant me the due grace of retracting that statement.

My idea is to continue expanding the population of the forum, adding new boards for specific people and (possibly) groups as we go along, and as interest is demonstrated. Meaning, exactly what I've been doing, and exactly what has been stimulating growth.

My "KYM" example wasn't in terms of defining community, atmosphere, or design. It was to reflect on my eventual goal of having a component wiki. It seems like every single person we cover who gets a board has a wiki, and no doubt there are individuals who would want to contribute to such a project. There was a wiki in the works, but it caught too much attention too quickly and drew too much outside attention before it was ready to handle it.

Speaking of which, because Moleman9000's board has been fighting Hulkamania and Moderation for "least popular board" for months now, I've archived it. It's still available under Spergatory.

I wasn't referring to my ideas specifically, but ideas by the community in general :).

Meaning, exactly what I've been doing,

Yeah.

There's a lot of creative people on here, and a good number of projects/fan-works being organised here.

I'd to see resources and tools aimed at these parts of the community. Not sure specifically what/how though.

When we do expand our audience, may we make it a bit tougher for new users to access off topic and chat? These are very community specific and some users may not want new random users (who may not be here just for observing) to have immediate access to these things.

I would like to agree twice too this.

Isn't there already like a 10 posts and 10 likes minimum or some such?

Small changes. I've modified the promotion path from this:

Registered ( brand new )
Trusted ( specific criteria )

to this

Registered ( brand new )
Introduced ( 1 post )
Trusted ( specific criteria )

- Registered users cannot rate posts by default.
- Introduced users can rate posts.
- The criteria for becoming Trusted is now slightly more difficult.
- Non-trusted uses can now give themselves custom titles.
