Suikoden 1 and 2 Remaster - 216 Mother Fuckin' Stars

Having played no version of either prior, Suikoden 1 plays and looks like absolute ass.

Suikoden 2 seems fine so far.

It feels like they made the Suikoden 2 remake and then just shit out Suikoden 1 in rpg maker over a weekend.

So is it better than just emulating the PSX versions?

Even though I'm enjoying the remasters, I'd say not really, especially at full price, and if you know how to use the PSX fan patches. So far the biggest difference is the translation, which is supposedly more accurate since they didn't have to worry about space constraints this time around. I'm sure some of the old translations' goofy charm has been lost but those old translations were also kinda ESL-y and also outright gibberish or even broken at times, so I'm fine with the trade off.

Apparently it runs at 30fps on the Switch, and people are still somehow surprised.

No, that's just how S1 is.

I finished S1 on hard with all 108 stars in 12 hours. It feels a lot better being able to run everywhere by default. Here's a mod to fix some of the quirks like speeding up the battle music.

So this is not out on PS4?
Well I guess I'm sticking to my old psone copies then.
