Summers Game Fest 2023

It's a good thing they're spending so long on the bare minimum of space game stuff

should we tell them that No Man's Sky has been doing this (and more) for years now, or let them have their fun?

Genuinely shocked they didn't reveal the romance with a gay couple

They are literally describing the most basic of systems in space games.

All this talk of realism, yet the in space stuff is the most arcade thing ever. Probably not even Newtonian, and the scale looks wack. Despite it's issues Elite Dangerous does this better, with actual orbital physics along with more arcadey flight when you turn on the flight assist.

That sandwich shit is making me groan. 2000s-level lolrandom humor. Why do companies still do this.

A watch that connects to your phone

did you people think this through for even like 5 seconds

So they are straight up just saying its completely procedural lol. Radiant planets.

Of course its also not a set seed, so its different each time. UNLIMITED PLAYTIME, UNLIMITED QUESTS, TODD HAS DONE IT AGAIN.

I expect a mod to set the seed day 1

This is just doing what No Man's Sky did
if all the planets were hand-crafted, which Bethesda would be able to fucking do pretty feasibly considering they're first-party, then it would actually stand out
Starfield would have something unique to its name
But no, they're just pawning off all the work on an algorithm that'll almost certainly shit its pants the moment anything slightly out of the ordinary happens as a result of the player wanting to play the damn game

Game is just a few years too early for AI generated locations. Todd seething into retirement.

He did a big spiel about diversity hiring. Do you think he can trust any of those mongs to do shit right? I mean, you can barely trust him.

Star citizen uses a mixed procedural hand crafted thing since making entire planets by hand is not feasible. Dev hell and never coming out and all that, but their planet creation tools are really interesting. Artists can paint single biomes and single landscape features, and their system scatters that across the entire planet using a smart system. They also have overrides for completely hand crafted features.
