Summers Game Fest 2023

Could always make it more puzzle based. A true walking simulator just has absolutely no gameplay and as long as you aren't spewing pretentious shit like The Witness I think it can actually make for a very enjoyable experience especially for doing something like exploring an abandoned world and trying to piece together what's happened.
I had the 'Autor' idea of having a gun in it the entire time, but never actually having enemies. I have a few concepts for living 'antibodies' of the planet that grow out from the 'concrete' structures, like stone golems or something. But I'm struggling enough with just basic gameplay programming, I'm afraid of even attempting the type of AI I would want with that.

You could always have it be some sort of industrial "gun" and have puzzles that require using it to activate/move things that are out of the player's reach.

I want to integrate the player's ship (which is like a retrofitted cargo ship or something) as the fast travel system. In Metroid Prime 3 you unlocked landing points for your ship as you progressed, and there was like 1 time you used it to destroy something. I was thinking something like that.

I also have a mostly functional scan visor, unabashedly copying Metroid Prime, the project started as me re-creating the health upgrade system from Prime. It was going to be a straight Metroid Prime metroidvania clone but it sort of turned into a more exploration thing instead.

I was also thinking about collecting 'samples' in some way and 'researching' them on the ship. Obviously the game design part of all this is very early since I've just been making cool sci-fi landscapes to procrastinate from the programming part.

I didn't catch it live but there was another bug present in the Hell Let Loose trailer. The absolute state of Team17.

XBox showcase:
Fable: Where is the gameplay?

South of Midnight: Art style is nice not sure about the low frame rate stuff however but where the is the gameplay, with a new ip gameplay is must in order to sell it. Don't even know what type of game it is.

Star Wars Outlaws: Don't even care about the gameplay of this one because it will just be another ubisoft bland open world game. Do wonder why Star Wars games are afraid of making the main character something other than a human.

Persona 3: Missing the content from FES, so what should feel like a best of all the persona 3 games will now just cause more debate on which is the best,

Avowed: Looks generic, but if the budget is right may fill the void for people since last the new ES game was 2011.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024: Unsure why isn't not just an update for the last game as graphically look as good but putting aside that was a good trailer with lots of gameplay.

Hellblade 2: Awful trailer, I like the first Hellblade but this was like they took a random overlong cut scene from the game rather than anything that may actually sell the game. or edit a trailer with a mix of gameplay and cutscenes.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. lack of gameplay again but should see that later in the month at the Like a Dragon event, the series has needed to go aboard for a while now so finally happy to see it doing that.

Fallout 76 and ESO: putting both of these together because I'm shocked people actually play these, never hear anyone talk about them and then every e3 they get a new trailer for some new add on.

Kunitsu-Gami: A new ip that looks fun, great trailer, well done capcom

Overwatch 2: Wonder how long til they close Overwatch 2 down after it flopping,

Persona 5 Tactics: Ugly as sin, not just the models but the environments looks almost 3ds like in low detail.

Starfield: Looks boring outside ship building, the 1000 planet comment will turn out to be a lie with so much copy and pasting.

Jusant: It's a Dontnod game but seems to have no dialog, so maybe it will not be total shit.

Dungeon of Hinterberg: Gameplay looks fine but game is just really ugly to me.

Cyberpunk dlc: They sold the plot from Escape from, New York

Metaphor:REfAntazio, they showed everything put gameplay. Least it wasn't a cgi trailer I guess

Clockwork Revolution: Can't believe it's not bioshock

The PC gaming showcase:
The game line up was mostly fine, bit too much cgi trailer and a few duds, however the show it's self was awful.

Take the already ran into the ground devolver digital shtick, make it less funny, on 1/10th the budget, get an awful host and for 2 hours instead of 15 minutes. But despite that, I can't hate it as it reminded me of the awfulness of the old E3 where the boring show which is common place now was rare and it was the out of touch ones you got far more often.

They showed enough to tell that it's literally Fantasy Persona; calendar system, social links and SMT-like turn-based combat.
The only thing we can't tell is if there will be a Demon/Persona capturing and fusion system, or if the abilities will work in another way.

Seeing the frame-drops, the game is probably still running quite poorly to properly show long stretches of gameplay.

Curb stomping space hippies in a giant mech would be pretty cool.
The navi are 10 ft tall space cats with spear size arrows. Would make make for a great horror-ish game since you, the player, are trying to live on a hostile planet with everything trying to kill you. The only (kindof) advantage humans have a is range and tech.

Oh, so we're not recreating Future Cop: LAPD?

Ubisoft started off with the shitty dancing dance routine for Just Dance they do every live show which no one likes but they keep doing them. People who buy Just Dance don't watch these streams, really don't need more than a trailer for it.

Then got Avatar which is just a reskin of Fry Cry. Graphically looks nice which is the best thing i can say.

GAAS first person shooter I already forgot the name of, looks like every other GAAS shooter and will be taken offline in 6 months.

New PoP, cgi trailer which has ill fitting music but not as bad as the Summer Game Fest one. Now a date of Jan 18th, no idea why they didn't show that on the first trailer.

Gameplay footage looks fine but low budget, which isn't an issue if this turns out to be a budget game as not everything has to be full price or have a huge budget. For some reason ubisoft doesn't want people to have a good look at the footage so they have a guy covering up the screen for a good part of it and 80% of it was off screen footage rather than being direct.

Adi Shankar (Netflix CV guy) dressed up like a weirdo to talk about the Blood Dragon animated tv show, for some reason he keep calling it anime dispite the animation being done in France. Took around 4 minute to get footage of a cartoon show,.

Division 2 cgi trailer for a game what came out 4 years ago. I thought the player base already died for that. Well it now coming to phones and looks like it runs 10fps.

Skull & Bones. game everyone memes on about looking like shit and will never come out, so for some reason Ubisoft starts it off with a shit band doing a song and one of the guy's mic is off, in fact not sure if they were even doing the song live. Anyway that was it for Skull and Bones, not even a trailer.

Some game called Roller Champions is getting a cross over with Jet Set Radio and Halo shit in Brawlhalla.

CGI teaser for the Rayman dlc for Mario + Rabbids, was like 10 seconds long. No the game flopped, but couldn't you have a real trailer

The Crew Motorfest, Long ass CG trailer, least they showed gameplay after it, off screen gameplay mostly in the forms of clips, but that is sadly better than most games at this not E3. Says all new take on racing, it's just Forza Horizon.

Ass Creed Meta Quest, and all cgi trailer, not even good cgi. No gameplay before they switch to Ass Creed Jade a mobile game which is free to play so microtransactions up the ass, they did show in game footage but looks like classic ubisoft bullshots

Ass Creed Mirage, selling point it's like the old Ass Creed, so 20 hours of bloat rather than 40 hours+ of bloat from the open world games.

Star Wars Outlaws, asks if crowd wants to see gameplay processed to talk about the game rather than show gameplay, lists about 10 different dev who worked on this game like thats a good thing. 4 minutes later and finally gameplay shown, and it's like every other "cinematic" game, right down to the half baked stealth.

Overall not a great looking line up but least ubisoft had some slices of gameplay in their show, which should be a given for any event but sadly hasn't been this year.

How the fuck is that game series still going? Do normalfags actually LIKE those games?

I would have figured that shit would tank once the music game craze ended. Beat Saber is the only thing that's been getting any attention. Not even DDR is going strong like it used to and they're on their 3rd sequel of the "A" series.

SSD required? Fuck off, I'm not installing a 125 gig game on my limited SSD space.
Nowadays a 2TB NVMe SSD is basically dirt cheap and you'll be doing yourself a favor getting one to store your games on. Even the SATA ones aren't that expensive if you're stuck on legacy hardware. I keep my games on a 1TB SATA SSD I still have only because of buying it before I got a new motherboard and it's fantastic even for older games. It's a worthy investment overall. SSD's for running software/games, HDD's for mass storage.

Just Dance was huge in hospital and rehab centers however that was on the Wii and why they kept making it for the wii until Just Dance 2020, in the UK switch sold 55% of the copies followed up by the wii at 21%.

As for now, got no idea, unless the rehabs are using switch just dance.

The official Ubisoft streams have no chat on YouTube and emote-only on Twitch. I guess they can't handle the Ls.

I guess they are aware of the feedback related to the Fresh Prince of Persia.

Something similar to the Ewok Hunt from EAfront 2?

Not the normalfags, women.

Didn't Microsoft say something about not having 'next gen' prices?
Not anymore. Redfall was the first Microsoft game to have the full "next gen" price.

Man I really wasn't expecting the Avatar game to just be Far Cry. Also the abducted navi child premise is retarded. Just make it an actual avatar if you're doing the exact same "learning the ways of the navi" story beats so people can self insert properly.

I have a bunch of my development software on my SSDs, Substance and Unreal are awful running on a HDD and I need to have multiple version of Unreal installed because I have to do support for my marketplace assets, even with minimum install its still reaching 200gb. I could fit games on them, but they would just take up more space than I'm comfortable with. My board only has 2 NVMe slots, and my GPU makes it hell to swap them since it covers one slot and the clamps are in the worst place. I'm also full up on hard drives in my case. I have a SATA that I install smaller games to, but I try to avoid filling up my SSDs in general. Perhaps I'm just autistic about my storage usage.
