Let's Sperg Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden - The first game in the series to make mecha nerds cry from the difficulty

Stage 15 (Gundam X): I'll Give You Power

Alright Kiwis, it's time we we fulfilled the first step in the chain of getting one of the most kickass secrets in the game.

The Skill Point involves killing everyone, but for step one of the secret, Garrod needs the lion share of the kills.

We start with Shingo and Tonya saying good morning, and Shingo points out they got 5 Gundams with them now, no one with a brain would dare attack them.

Jamil then cuts in, says he'd like to study the machines of the newcomers discreetly, but is positive they are not enemies, at least not of them. He then gets back to business and asks about the GX's location.

Sarah confirms it's 30km north of their position, and Jamil realizes Garrod didn't haul ass further because Tiffa is in frail health.

We cut to the Freeden hangar, where Roux is happy she didn't have to sleep sitting up in her Gundam cockpit another night and instead got a real bed. Meanwhile, Kosuke and Quatre notice their machines got a tuneup during the night.

On cue, Kid pops in, says it's because he's a genius, was happy to do the work, and he deflates when Roux is not surprised a kid is mechanic, and is even more deflated when she points to Kosuke and says "you aren't the only kid gearhead I know".

His ego a little wounded at not being the smartest kid in the room aside, Quatre reinforces said ego a little by complimenting him on getting all the work done in a night, and as Kid is surprisingly willing to not pry into where they got their mechs, Quatre finds out they've been digging up mobile suits in this part of Ameria for about ten years or so.

Note: Roughly matches up with Gundam X, it took a few years for the worst of the colony drop debris to settle before they started digging shit up.

He also reveals Gundams are a hot commodity, being the rarest of all MS that get dug up, having been important in past wars especially. He also alludes to Turn A, saying he thought the Combattler was a mechanical doll since it didn't look like a Gundam.

We cut over to Kamille, who is getting told by Witz he didn't expect another Gundam similar to his own.

Stage15GXa.jpg

Kamille is abit recalcitrant to mention where he got his Zeta from for obvious reasons, and Roybea lets it go as he realizes Kamille has got questions.

Stage15GXb.jpg

Kamille asks about Jamil, and finds out the boss has a name in the Vulture community, and this term is also explained, and he finds out about Breakers, who are considered rivals by Vultures.

He draws a few curious looks when he needs mountain cycles explained to him, but gets informed, then they turn to wondering why Jamil is worked up over Tiffa and the GX, and accidentally let's slip he'd like to turn a profit on the knowledge, which unfortunately gets Sarah and Tonya's attention.

Roybea turns on the charm to get Sarah to calm down, and when he throws her off guard for a second, points out it would be in her interest to know too, her ass may ride on the knowledge.

We then cut over to Garrod in a clearing, asking Tiffa if she's okay. She tells him she's better now and asks Garrod for his life story, so he spills, it not being much more than I described a post ago, but they made some minor changes.

For one, Garrod's dad was killed by the Innocent (remember, the Innocent fill in for most of Gundam X's background characters), and since then Garrod had to fend for himself. Tiffa reveals she's without family for similar reasons, and just as things get a little warm for the two of them, the heavy mood is shook up by enemies closing in, so Garrod takes Tiffa with him in the GX to haul ass.

We cut to the battle map, where Shingo spots the enemies in question, who have surrounded Garrod.

Stage15GXc.jpg

The enemy are a bunch of Jenice, and Garrod MUST kill at least six in three turns for part one of the secret.

I'll be blunt, this step SUCKS, because Garrod has one long range weapon with ten shots, and even if you cheated and maxed out the GX beforehand, the game, in a clever anticipation of this, switches out the GX for a dummy version with basic stats prior so this trick won't work, and you still have to kill six Jenice anyway.

Here's how I find works:

1. Turn one, Garrod uses Focus, shoots the farthest Jenice from him. During enemy counterattack, dodge anything you can't counter and shoot back at what you can.
2. On turn two, move one space up and repeat steps for Turn 1.
3. By turn 3, you'll be out of ammo, but two Jenice should be at right angles next to each other. Park Garrod in between them and kill one. The other should have some damage from being shot and will be killed by Garrod on the enemy counter turn 3.

The game is supposed to play a brief conversation clip every two dead Jenice, but I found it will occasionally misfire, so this is not an accurate way to judge this, but you will get at least one guaranteed conversation at four dead, so by that point at the end of turn 2, you know you only need two more down.

Doing this right registers what's known as a "Tiffa Point", which is invisible to the player but can be seen on the save file with save hacking tools.

You may need to sacrifice the Skill Point this level, it's nearly impossible to get and get this secret, and as long as you have 33 points by Stage 40, you can afford to miss a few.

Anyway, once you killed six or all of them with just Garrod or friendly reinforcements, the next part of the stage begins

Before I get to that, you'll notice the Super Gundam deploys with it's G-Defenser and the Gundam MK-II separated, you can combine them by selecting the Combine option for the G-Defenser, and this will not waste a turn.

Anyway, as the next part of the stage begins and more enemies close in, Sarah gets a reading from the GX, the Satellite System has activated.

Jamil nearly shits himself at that news, and you get a chance to mop up any remaining enemies before Shagia shows up with another platoon of Jenice and Olba in tow.

The two of them wax rhapsodic about how securing the GX will mean the Innocent are screwed and how dusk is fitting time for their enemies to die, but Tiffa says this, and you Gundam X fans all know this means shit is about to get real.

Stage15GXd.jpg

Garrod does NOT need to move his unit at all (he can't), just have your team murder all the assholes near the GX only, including the Frost Brothers.

After a turn of this, this bit of epic action below happens ingame.

All I plan to say is this:

"SATTELITE CANNON............HAAAASHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!"

One gigantic wave motion blast of power that could cut through an entire space colony like butter later, Shagia's entire platoon of goons, or rather what little remains after they were simply obliterated off the planet, is gone, and both Frost Brothers go all 0_0 as they realize they were almost on the business end of that, and they wisely haul ass.

The Preventers freak when they realize it got energy for it's attack from a transmitter on the Moon, and which one do you think they're thinking off capable of doing that?

That's right, the one meant for Project Aegis.

However, Tiffa is experiencing an epic freakout now, the psychic feedback from all the newly dead people as a result of turning the key to the Sattelite System sent her into overload, and the other Newtypes are wincing from the aftershocks they sense, with Tex and Jamil realizing Tiffa needs medical attention ASAP.

We cut to later inside the Freeden, where Garrod is having to be restrained, and as he demands to be let go, Jamil busts his balls and tells Garrod she's on thin ice mentally and psychically from what Garrod just did thanks to her power, and orders Garrod carted off to the brig.

We then cut to the hangar, where the Preventers are still 0_0 at what they just saw.

I'll cover the rest next post.

P.S. - The game slightly altered Jamil's dialogue about the GX being a nightmare from the past.

In the show, he gives a specific set of years. In SRW, it's left somewhat vague to prevent canon clash weirdness.

Writing this post for @Jaimas since he liked my post explaining how Gundam 00 fit into SRW Z2 Part 1.

SRW Z2.1 starts with the plots of Gundam 00 and Gundam Wing dovetailing together.

One of the first levels is reenacting the Setsuna totals Patrick in the demonstration AEU Enact scene, with some of the Gundam Wing cast crashing the party as well, dragging OZ forces out into the open, as Zechs Merquise was there along with Graham Aker to witness the new Enact do it's thing.

The next couple of levels mirror the first few episodes of both Gundam Wing and 00 Gundam S1, with the nations of the world realizing they are horribly outclassed by the Gundams of Wing and 00, and we find out the Wing and 00 casts are semi-cooperating because the eggheads at Celestial Being compared notes with the Operation Meteor eggheads, and they at one point were gonna work together before said eggheads got into a snit with each other, and thus the pilots quickly go their separate ways after they both make use of the events of the first episode of 00 Gundam to make their debut.

Of course, this doesn't last long as the world gets besieged by a ton of other threats, the Dancougar Nova cast (which has a similar goal as the 00 Gundam cast) wind up running into Celestial Being on the same basic missions, and they eventually team up because it's pretty damned obvious their interests align.

Further, the secretary of the UN (which is mostly toothless at this point save being an international arguing, bitching and finger pointing forum) gets in touch with all the Gundam Wing and 00 cast, as he has a line to Dancougar Nova cast, and he gets all the other separate forces from VOTOMS, God Mars, Shin Mazinger, Getter Robo Armageddon, and Code Geass together and promises to keep them in the loop on all the shit the three world powers might try to do against them and gives them a limited amount of protection to operate as a semi off the books UN sanctioned organization called ZEXIS to deal with crap like the Gishin Empire from God Mars, the Mechabeasts of Shin Mazinger, the Heterodynes of Dai-Guard and the forces of Moon WILL from Dancougar Nova, as well as investigating an area called the Dark Continent and seeing what the hell is going on there, as that's where all the Gurren Lagann stuff is going down.

They also delay the death of Vice-Minister Darlian, he's basically of the few sane guys on the UN trying to get everyone to calm down, generally in vain.

Of course, this doesn't mean the Britannian Union, the AEU, or the Human Resource League are just sitting on their asses, as Elgan Laudic (the UN secretary) can't exactly get them to drop their hateboners against the Gundams nor the Black Knights of Code Geass, and after they all make separate attempts to kick their respective enemies asses as well as hiring mercenaries from VOTOMs (whom Ali Al-Saachez is pretty tight with) to do the job for them, they eventually join forces for a three nations on ZEXIS beatdown like happened to Celestial Being around midway through 00 Season 1.

They incorporate how the Gundams from Wing got tricked into doing OZ's bidding in Episode 5 of that show into the setup for this trap, with Wufei showing up to warn them all they got tricked before all three nations try their damnedest to kill ZEXIS.

Note: While you are supposed to survive for a certain number of turns in this level, AND you don't have to kill all the enemies, it's perfectly feasible to curb stomp the shit out of everyone on the map.

After this, all the nations of the world go off to lick their wounds while you deal with some other crap, then shit gets weird.

A dimensional quake drops the entire cast of ZEUTH (the Z1 good guys) into the Z2 world, and just as soon as they all get used to this, the original enemies of the game make their appearance, temporarily making all the world powers shit their collective pants over a nastier threat than ZEXIS.

After a few levels of this, which includes guys like Suzaku Kururugi from Code Geass and Zechs from Gundam Wing temporarily allying with ZEXIS to deal with the Imperium (the original villains), a thaw in relations occurs, to the point it seems like things are calming down.

And then the plot twists from Code Geass and Gundam 00 where Zero of the Black Knights fucks up and starts a massacre through stupidity and the Trinity siblings show up, and everything starts going to hell for everyone.

Worse, this is around the time the world nations formally decide to work together as Alejandro Corner and Ribbons drop the GN-X units on their respective doorsteps, allowing the world to maintain parity with the Gundams, and OZ finally quits using those lame Aries and Leos and upgrades to Tauruses, and just to make your life even more miserable, you discover all those separate mercenary groups from different series that were gunning for you were all under the aegis of Ali Al-Saachez the whole time instead of him just being a free agent (who by this time has ganked himself a Gundam of his own), and as ZEXIS works their asses off to put out the fires from series like Dai-Guard, Macross Frontier, and Getter Robo Armageddon, the nations of the world decide enough is ENOUGH.

And so they all cooperate to kick your ass again, throwing a shitload of GN-X units and the finest troops the assholes from OZ and Code Geass can offer at you in a dramatic replay of the final episodes of Gundam 00 Season 1, and bizarrely, you appear to make a mockery of the bad ending of that show, as no one save Lockon dies.

In fact, after defeating the final boss for Part 1, Celestial Being is mostly intact, the Wing Gundam cast doesn't have a target on their heads, and the Black Knights are about to kick off the Black Rebellion that ended Code Geass Season 1.

And that when the ending credits laugh in your face as that was just to fake you out, as while you were dealing with the final boss, Vice-Minister Darlian finally get assassinated, Elgan Laudic is imprisoned by Ribbons, that semi-unofficial protection deal is yanked out from under the casts of Z1 and Z2, and everything goes to hell.

Celestial Being is cornered by another GN-X squad and everyone save Setsuna is either shot down or captured.

The Operation Meteor Gundams are finally cornered by OZ with no chance of escape, and when the ultimatum for them to surrender happens, Heero blows himself up while the other Operation Meteor Gundams flee, and most of the Gundam pilots from the Z1 world have to seek protection from OZ because the entire world wants anything piloting a Gundam dead otherwise.

The Black Rebellion from Code Geass goes utterly to hell like in canon.

Everyone else from the other series are forced to go underground to avoid the now unified world powers of the Earth Federation, whom Ribbons Almark now has in his back pocket.

And that ends how things turn out in general overview in SRW Z2, Part 1.

It gets a lot better in Part 2, but yeah, SRWZ2.1 ends on a pretty bitter note.

Stage 16 (Gundam X): I'll Sell The Gundam!

This stage is going to be notable for two things: We can get another secret on this route started, and Garrod does something so astronomically retarded (that SRW couldn't fix because the plot absolutely demands it) I still consider it one the dumbest things ever done in the Gundam franchise.

Anyway, we start with Jamil with Tex in the infirmary, and while Tiffa is on the mend, Tex advises Jamil secure the long term support of their new pilots and to remember that Jamil was an immature kid like Garrod himself once.

Once we get back to the Freeden bridge, he finds it's a bit of hard sell to get assistance guaranteed, especially everyone, his own crew included, want some hard answers about all the crazy shit they just saw.

Seeing he has no choice, he tells the truth.

He was once a pilot himself, in the last Innocent-Moon Race War (aka the Seventh Space War from Gundam X), and the GX-9900 was one of the weapons used to end that war, with him in the pilot seat. He was a Newtype, and those were needed to unlock the full potential of the GX-9900 (especially it's Satellite Cannon) He confirms the end result of said war wound up assraping the planet pretty bad, and a lot of Newtypes like himself died in the conflagration as well.

The Preventer crew is particularly taking notice of this, as history has repeated for them (Four especially), and Jamil confirms his Newtype powers were fried as a result, and he wants to protect Tiffa, any other Newtype, and anyone else with similar power from the horror he went through.

Roybea directly addresses how this conflicts with canon, and Jamil's answer establishes the date of 7th Space War was moved a few more years back to resolve canon issues. Jamil refuses to confirm which side he fought for, except to say he's had his fill of war and never wishes anyone to suffer another.

Witz and Roybea had their questions answered, and both decide they want to check out of this job, given it's a lot more than they signed up for. Jamil accepts that and agrees to given them their pay until now as a farewell, no hard feelings as their employer.

As for the Preventers, they agree to stay on, as they need room and board, that's enough for them, and until they find their friends, they don't mind helping out. Besides, Jamil's cause strike an obvious chord with them.

We then cut to where Garrod tries to sneak into the infirmary to see Tiffa from the brig, and without even looking up from his book Tex tells Garrod he'll step outside while Garrod does his thing.

As for Garrod, he admits to the sleeping Tiffa he was a jackass and that Jamil ultimately gives more of damn about her safety than he did, and decides he's going to leave out of shame for how Tiffa got hurt because of him.

Tex pops in as Garrod's about to do this and asks Garrod if he's gonna just run from all this, prompting Garrod to leave without another word, and Tex is all "just like Jamil when we first met".

We then cut back to the Freeden bridge, and they consider losing Witz and Roybea while gaining Kamille bunch a mixed blessing, and before they can discuss this, they find out Garrod bullshitted his way off the ship from Kid, with the GX.

We then cut to a nearby town where Garrod is planning to palm off the GX, and to his surprise, sees the Double Zeta and Victory Gundam in the town, and he realizes they are on the auction block, so he decides to add his Gundam to the bidder list.

Meanwhile, this woman watches on with interest:

Stage16GXa.jpg

Seems Ennil El here was in the market for a Gundam, and feels she hit the jackpot. She's also aware of the Frost Brothers, who mentioned the GX to her once. She also notices some Breakers from Gallia are around at the auction site, which means this could get interesting.

We then cut over to Hola and Geraba, now on the Innocent's payroll, and when Geraba points out to Hola they took a detour from Fort Severn, Hola points out it's not like the Innocent are gonna know this far away, and besides, they could gank some free Walker Machines while they are here.

We cut to the actual auction, where Judau is apparently putting his Gundam up for sale, and he's quite good at doing the sales pitch routine.

But when the Breakers get interested, he tosses out a stupidly high amount as a floor bid: 50 million.

Amazingly enough, people keep trying to top that amount. As they do, Usso wonders if Judau is seriously about this, and Judau's answer can be boiled down to:

"Hell no. These guys are probably gonna welsh on the deal, but since we need traveling expenses, let see if I can scam a scammer and then we'll get out of here."

Keep in mind he actually DID try to sell his Gundam in the past, but he's no moron.

And that's when Garrod shows up and basically steals the spotlight with the GX, and Judau's suspicions were correct.

Stage16GXb.jpg

However, Garrod then sets off a tiny explosive device on the Gundam (hardly enough to ding the paint), saying there is a bigger one that will go off if anyone tries to steal it. He then impresses Judau by noticing Judau also set up a similar trap.

Geraba almost manages to get the GX for 100 million (which he doesn't really have), but Garrod would make early-Christmas Carol Scrooge proud as he then says "100 million for the GX, but you also have to buy the controller to do anything with it".

Geraba is a bit pissed Garrod is THAT crafty, but just as he's gonna bitch about it, Ennil shows up and offers a shitload for both.

Stage16GXc.jpg

No one has a counter offer, so Garrod says its sold to the hot redhead in the tight shirt and leather pants.

But that's when Hola jumps the gun and fucks up the whole auction, attacking everyone, and the whole deal falls through.

Before this level begins I just want to explain how this differs from canon, as they managed to blunt the stupidity of the original Gundam X in part in this level, but not completely.

The Gundam X version of events was somewhat different, as Garrod negotiated the sale with Ennil the day of the auction, and both agreed to exchange funds the next day.

During the night, she pays him a visit to basically put the moves on him, but she was going to still fulfill the deal in good faith.

Just as she was about to doff her clothes and take his virginity, the dumbass thought she was gonna pull a gun on him, told her the deal was off as he pulled a gun on her, and left her feeling very pissed and rejected.

Keep in mind he still had booby trapped everything, so she couldn't have ripped him off if she wanted to, but because he was too paranoid for his own good, he made an enemy out of her and missed a chance to get his rocks off with her at the same time, and she spent most of the series nursing a huge grudge over it.

tl;dr: Garrod still was a dumbass here, but SRW tones down the worst part of his incredible idiocy from the source. To his credit though, the addition of the obviously traitorous Breakers does muddy the water somewhat for reasonable paranoid doubt.

Anyway, the enemy has a mix of Walker Machines, two Delevasglans, and Hola's flagship, the Galavier, which must be shot down before Hola runs around 80% HP down for the Skill Point.

SECRET UNIT TIP: Also, you can get Ennil's custom Jenice (the one that looks like Gundam X's take on the original Gundam Gouf) later if Garrod and Enill speak first, THEN he destroys her unit. Doing this fulfills the first part in getting her custom Jenice later.

Stage16GXd.jpg

This is pretty close to the stats it has when you can get it for yourself, and you can see it's a lot better than the standard Jenice in several regimes.

As for Hola's Galavier:

Stage16GXe.jpg

It's actually somewhat weaker than the Delvasglans.

Anyway, after a turn, Ennil will run up to Garrod and still insist she'd like the Gundam, with the implication she still intends to pay for it, but Garrod still jumps to the assumption she was bullshitting him from the start, she assumes the same thing, and despite running through a condensed version of the original source dialogue, they come to blow, and she provides one of the earliest sources of boob jiggle cut-in fanservice the series would use for most female pilots they get away with using it on in battle animations since.

Stage16GXf.jpg

As an amusing sidebar, guys have gotten animated cut-ins too, like how Synapse gets to do a dramatic arm sweep when he orders the Albion's cannons to fire in Alpha 2, but the ladies always get some form of boob jiggle animation, to the point the character Selena Recital would overdo it to the point of parody in Alpha 3, as seen below.

d45b4581632cff94fd4926948a8938447c16bbf5.gif

Anyway, after this scripted talk, have Garrod get the kill shot on her.

By Turn 2, Puru and Marbet show up to help turn the tide in your favor, and I suggest you take down nearby Breakers on your way to kill Hola to build up Will for attacks.

Also, starting with this level, enemies won't be averse to ganking containers from you.

By Turn 4, Hola and Geraba call out some more Duggers and Promeus to back them up, but by Turn 5, Witz and Roybea show up, and in their discussion with Garrod about how he jacked the GX, Judua and the others find out Kamille and the Combattler team hooked up with the Freeden.

Short version is that Witz and Roybea decide to help out because as Vultures, they don't like Breakers horning in on their turf.

Even better, by Turn 6, the Iron Gear crew show up, and Hola is glad to see her, but all that means is Kenichi asks Elche if she minds if they help Judau punch Hola's face in, and Elche is all for it.

With this infusion of troops, you can now go full force against the Breakers.

If you do manage to shoot down the Galavier, Hola will spout cliche villain lines about getting shot down, Geraba will note the cliche, and you get the Skill Point.

I'll cover the rest next post.

I'm going to combine the rest of Stage 16 (GX) and Stage 17 (GX) into this post.

The Skill Point for Stage 17 is to kill the first wave of enemies in four turns, but I'm not addressing strategy, as it's essentially the Moon Race version of this level from the GX route side of things.

I will cover any story differences though.

----

We start after Stage 16 where Marbet is comparing notes with the Iron Gear team, and the Gundam X guys are confused about blue stones, but both sides of the world have in common the Moon Race threat.

And that's when Elche pops an offer to Witz and Roybea to work for her, and after a bit of debate, they decide "hell, why not?"

And that's when irony hits like an anivl as Elche is planning to rendezvous with the Freeden, so Witz and Roybea will be meeting their former employer again very soon.

For further irony, they'll effectively be BACK on Jamil's dime by proxy.

We cut to the hangar where Garrod can't take his mind off Tiffa, Judau tries to see if he's okay, and Puru tells him she understands, she has a sister she worries about, and tells Garrod he should go see here if that's worrying him so much.

And so he does, leaving the Iron Gear with the GX.

Baazar is open after this level, but there is nothing for sale you haven't seen before as far as parts, no units.

-----

Stage 17: (GX): The Moon Race

We cut back to the Freeden, where Tiffa is feeling better, and she asks for a sketch pad.

We cut to the hangar, where Kid is miffed Garrod took off with the GX, but Four tells Kid he'll definitely be back because of a certain young lady, and Kid wonders if Four is a Newtype, to which Four doesn't respond.

We cut back to Tiffa, who has drawn a mobile suit with butterfly wings, and both Jamil and Tex go all 0_0 when they realize that could be the Turn A Gundam.

Jamil is skeptical, pointing out the Turn A is unique, while the GX-9900 was mass produced, albeit in limited numbers. Tiffa insists it can be found a southern town with a stone statue, and that means we are heading for Vicinity.

We cut to the bridge, where this is confirmed by orbital drop readings around Vicinity.

Again, not covering this level in detail, it's the Gundam X route version of its Moon Race counterpart, see that one for battle related material.

The only difference is that the positions of everyone change, the negotiations with the Moon Race break off at a slightly abbreviated version of the same point in the other route, and Garrod shows with some special dialogue, and Corin Nander shits himself when he see the Gundam that "fired the Moonlight"

The conclusion of this level is the same as the Moon Race one with little change, but since we've already seen the Moon Race Route, we're going to head on to Fort Severn when given the choice to finish out the Gundam X plot.

Only other minor changes is that Garrod's earlier conversations with Puru get a little followup.

The two routes unify around Episode 20.

The Bazaar also has the same stuff that was the end of the Moon Race version of this level.

I'll get on to the next few stages soon, but I just want to add that the next few levels are where it's most obvious the writers did their best to stitch together the three different post-apocalyptia series together.

Astute Gundam X fans will likely notice many subtle changes to the Fort Severn arc, which will be covered in the next couple stages.

I'd also like to cover one of the characters they will introduce soon, Carris Nautilus.

Carris is a Gundam X version of a Zeta-era Cyber-Newtype, and their voice actor also did Excellen Browning in Super Robot Wars, or did until their recent passing a few years ago. In fact, the role of Carris was her debut anime role.

Stage 18 (Gundam X): I'm a Newtype!

We start with the Freeden about to resume it's course, and Marbet is helping the Freeden bridge crew.

Meanwhile, Usso, Garrod, and Daisaku are doing loading bay duties in the hold.

We cut to the loading bay, where the three aforementioned are using their mobile suit to move stuff around, and Garrod is a bit of a butterfingers. Thankfully, after a cut to the bridge, Jamil let's said screwup slide, but Garrod is still not taking that sort of thing well and runs off, but Judau understands, and he segues into how he was in Garrod's shoes a few years back.

With that out of the way, the Freeden is heading for Fort Severn. Sarah almost asks a question of Jamil, of a personal nature, but decides not to.

This leads to a brief encounter between her and Garrod in another part of the ship, where both have a weird mutual bonding moment over their shared emotional turmoil.

We then cut to Tonya, who pops in to visit Tiffa, and she tries to get Tiffa to be more girly, and convinces Tiffa to try using a little lipstick.

(I'm gonna sum this up so I don't have to go over this scene later. Tiffa decides to try some on after Tonya leaves, Sarah notices later, gets a totally wrong idea, and acts like a bitch when she sees it. I shouldn't have to explain why)

We cut to Tex and Jamil discussing Jamil was much like Garrod at 15, and Tex reveals he has a deceased love interest, but he's taking it well, all things considered. Tex also notes, correctly, Garrod doesn't react well to being treated nicely (due to his harsh upbringing), and he has an overscrupulous sense of guilt.

We then cut to the hangar, where Kid is considering adding the GX's add-on modules before they reach Fort Severn due to the temperature. Akira and Usso ask why bother if the GX has a gigantic fuck-off Cannon of Doom, but Kid points out it's not usable all the time, and in densely populated areas it could cause a lot of backfire.

We also get some discussion as to why the Moon Race hasn't interdicted the lunar transmitter ever since Garrod started drawing power from it, but they write that off to it being a power source for the Moon Race they don't want to destroy, but after Kid points out they should be able to stop microwave transmission, they decide for some reason the Moon Race can't interfere with the transmitter.

We then cut to where Garrod drops dinner by Tiffa, and he gets a choice to ask if she's okay or not after hearing she can sense a Newtype near Fort Severn.

There is no downside to this, so do so.

She initially says it's nothing, but then asks Garrod if a battle comes up, can he promise not to join in?

He asks why, and she's blunt.

He'll lose.

He's says he believes her, but plans to overcome the odds.

We then cut all the way to the Frost Brothers, who are reconning Fort Severn.

Olba is communicating his recon to Shagia remotely, and it seems the Innocent are researching Newtype weapons development, have a mobile armor on hand, and this especially:

Stage18GXa.jpg

Shagia tells Olba to keep observing, he's gonna do some watching himself, and their mission is to see how far along the Innocent's plans are.

We then cut to Fort Severn proper, where a guy named Nomoa is discussing the Breakers who made it to Fort Severn, and Carris is bit dismissive of them:

Stage18GXb.jpg

They both note the Breakera are not likely to quietly submit to authority and that Dowas and Biel were retarded to let them have so much free reign, but Nomoa figures they'll do until Carris' "conditioning" is done and that once "it" is completed, said concerns will be irrelevant.

We also find out Director Nomoa (yeah, he's aligned with the Innocent) is also the Mayor of this township, and it seems Carris has sensed a Newtype and Gundam nearby.

Nomoa then notes the foolish times of people between Earth and Moon spilling blod continues if that's true, and says that's why they need the "Patulia".

Carris wants to secure the nearby Newtype for their own purposes, and Nomoa gives him the OK, but says to keep the Gallian Innocent in the dark.

We then cut to Freeden, now just 10 kilometers from Fort Severn, and Jamil orders all hands to level 2 battlestations.

And that's when Jamil's caution is justified, as a landship is gearing up to attack.

Jamil shifts to level 1 battlestations, and it's obvious he's feeling Newtype pressure and is in pain from it.

But before they can continue, a unit has struck near the Freeden's residental block.

Sarah offers to go secure Tiffa on Jamil's orders, shows up, finds Tiffa wearing lipstick, and you can guess her reaction:

Stage18GXc.jpg

We then cut to the battle map, where Hola and Geraba are among the Gallian Breaker defenders, as is Vickman, who is in nominal command of the Breakers.

Meanwhile, the Frost Brothers are just quietly observing for now.

You can sortie everyone, and you will need to, as you have to kill all enemies in seven turns for the Skill Point.

The Innocent have a potpourri of all Breaker units you've seen before, including 3 Galaviers and Vickman's Delavasglan. If you remember how to kick their ass from before, no special strategy here is needed.

One thing; It's a daytime map, so no Satellite Cannon.

You get some fun banter if Judau fights Hola, and this might make you all LOL.

Stage18GXd.jpg

Anyway, once you defeat all foes, Garrod tells Tiffa he didn't lose.

And that's when a Newtype presence is detected.

Carris says he's seeking a fellow companion, and asks everyone not interfere, and Garrod realizes right off what Carris. And that's when he speeds over to the Freeden to make off with Tiffa.

Garrod is not about to let that happen, but Carris tells Garrod he's outclassed, and even Tiffa tells Garrod he'd better stop, but Garrod ain't listening.

So Carris decides to use his Vertigo to wreck Garrod's shit.

Stage18GXe.jpg

A shitload of Bits (Gundam X version of UC Gundam funnel attacks) later, and the GX has gotten it's shit pushed in pretty hard.

Stage18GXf.jpg

With Garrod disabled, he tells everyone else to back off, or his next shot goes right through the Freeden bridge, and since Carris can fire his Bits with his mind while retrieving Tiffa at the same time, no one dares stop him.

Tiffa agrees to go peacefully so long as Carris doesn't finish Garrod off, he agrees, and thus disappear into Fort Severn. Meanwhile, the forces of Carris' Bits powered bitchslap has knocked Garrod unconscious, so the Freeden is forced to retire the field after picking him up.

As this happens, Olba Frost decides it's time to contact the Innocent inside Fort Severn as the stage ends.

We cut to the Freeden, where Garrod is in the infirmary, and the Satellite Cannon got crapped out. Meanwhile, Tex is sure Garrod is in no danger physical, though emotionally he took a hell of a beating.

Roybea and Witz then realize Carris' Bits look a lot like the Quebley's funnels, which means Puru is a Newtype, as is Four. We then cut back to bridge, where Kid wants to add some new gear to the GX while the Sattelite Cannon is being repaired, and Jamil agrees. Tex shows up on Jamil's orders, and that's when he has a favor to ask of him and Kid.

The Bazaar has the same stuff it did in Moon Race Stage 18.

Stage 19 (Gundam X): Resonating Powers

Warning, step two of getting one of the best Gundam X secrets in the game is part of this stage. If you don;t follow instructions to the letter, you will miss out even if you got step one done earlier.

Good news, you can get the Skill Point as part of the process, so you can kill two birds with one stone.

Be warned one last thing: This is when the game starts tossing out bosses that make the Stage 9 Neo-Granzon look easy, consider this level training wheels for later.

-----

We start this level with Garrod regaining consciousness, as Shakti is checking in on him.

We then cut to the hangar, where Tex is asking Kid about the new weaponry for the GX, the "Divider". We also find out Jamil has been, at his own request, subjected to medical therapy and good old fashioned facing his fears, to overcome his cockpit phobia.

I feel the need to mention that we got to see what they were doing in the show, and keep in mind this guy has some epic PTSD, but he had the brass to basically have Tex give him medication to dull his fear response while Kid basically forced his ass to sit in a cockpit despite his screaming like a bitch to get out.

He has every reason to be terrified of ever piloting again, but he still decided to face his fears if worse came to worse, which makes Jamil one gutsy bastard if you ask me.

Meanwhile, Garrod is beating himself up over his earlier fuckups.

We then cut to Fort Severn, where Timp is visiting Director/Mayor Nomoa, and Nomoa is telling him the Breakers are tough but useless as far as discipline is concerned. Timp agrees to himself that Nomoa is right and mentions to hismelf he should have gotten Karas Karas to pop on over to Fort Severn.

Nomoa then lays the cards on the table, saying he's well aware that this was to draw Moon Race attention by sending the Breakers to him, and when Timp is all "hell if I know, I just do my job", Nomoa is sure Kashim King came up with this idea. He then adds even without Innocent support he'll still use Newtypes to fight the Moon Race. Timp is skeptical, but Nomoa tells him that Newtypes recently kicked ass if he has doubts.

And this is where we find out why the Innocent of North Ameria don't have to live in domes while the ones in Gallia do: The cleansing of the continent is done.

You know those blue stones? Those things are in such low concentrations on the Ameria continent the Innocent and their descendants can breathe the same air as the Civilians. It's also why there is no three-day law and why the Innocent and Civilians are on more equal terms.

Timp is aghast, this shit was genuinely news to him, and he also finds out that's why the Moon Race are going after Ameria, the Innocent are far weaker in Ameria, ironically enough, especially militarily, not to mention Gallia is a wasteland, but Ameria is on the rebound.

He then tells Timp to relay that things are covered here to the Gallian Innocent, and Timp realizes Nomoa must be nursing a major grudge against his bosses.

He then changes the subject and introduces some newly hired Vultures to Nomoa.

These guys:

Stage19GXa.jpg

It's obvious Heero and Duo have joined the villains to find the heroes, even if the villains are clueless, and Nomoa wants them to check out some Gundams he's spotted nearby with theirs.

We then cut to Carris in another part of Fort Severn, who is speaking with Tiffa. He goes on about how Tiffa will be able to save people like him, then introduces her to someone else like her.

Take a wild guess who survived the Neo-Granzon going nova and got time warped:

Stage19GXb.jpg

We find out Carris introduced the two of them to see if Rosamy here had a connection to the Irregulars/Preventers, which they do, but he also notes that Nomoa had to work to stabilize Rosamy's mind, not to mention she was almost frozen to death in the snow, wandering around when he found her.

We then cut back to Freeden, where Garrod has gone AWOL.

And that's when Roux and Shakti realize the dumbass, still injured, is gonna try to jack the GX and go for round two with Carris.

Well, almost. He instead jacks a spare Jenice they had lying around for spare parts.

In fact, the dumbass is gonna charge Fort Severn in the walking bullseye:

Stage19GXc.jpg

Carris deploys with some Breakers, LOLing at Garrod's persistence and lack of common sense.

Quatre then shows up, having caught up with Garrod. Since Garrod isn't backing down, Quatre plans to back him up, and your mission is a simple one, get Garrod to this spot:

Stage19GXd.jpg

Of course, as you can see from the map, that's not gonna be easy:

Stage19GXe.jpg

It may interest you all to note, especially if you upgraded the GX's stats earlier, that will be reflected by the Jenice having higher stats than normal, as the game will apply the same amount of upgrades from both units to the Jenice for this stage and the actual GX, according to the save game data if you use hacking tools.

Regardless, that only means the Jenice is slightly less shit than usual even at max stats, so don't get cocky.

After a turn passes, you should head straight ahead, then move up to the base ASAP, and Garrod's Focus will be useful to keep from getting his deathtrap from getting blown up. Quatre should be able to help take some of the heat off, but most of the Breakers will gun for Garrod.

On turn 2, Heero and Duo notice the Sandrock, have some amusing banter about how their plan to get into Luna 2 went awhile back, then debate whether to jump in to help Quatre, and when Heero says he's sure Quatre wouldn't do something this crazy without good reason, Duo disagrees, referencing the one time the Zero System on Heero's machine drove Quatre batshit.

By Turn 3, Carris will deploy more forces to stop Garrod, but thankfully, that's when the Freeden and the GX deploy, and you can deploy the rest of the team.

Hyouma chides Garrod and Quatres for taking off by themselves, and Juuzou throws some amusing shade at Hyouma for that remark (considering Hyouma lost his arms and had to get cybernetic replacements at one point in his own series due to a clusterfuck of rashness, good point), and Chizuru even joins in.

And that's when we find out who is piloting the repaired GX:

Stage19GXf.jpg

He's still fighting his cockpit phobia, but he's gutting it out like a boss so far, and just as even Carris is all 0_0 at this, Jamil tells Garrod he's gonna show him how to ruin Carris' shit.

Before we go on, let me cover the variant of the GX Jamil is piloting, the GX Divider:

Stage19GXg.jpg

The GX Divider is an alternate module for the GX that replaces the Sattelite Cannon with a harmonica shaped laser cannon that does a decent job giving the GX more attack options when the Satellite Cannon is not viable. The modules can be switched out between missions.

Also, you can snag a Psychoframe part if you manage to shoot down Carris Vertigo. Bonus points if you do it with Garrod's craptastic Jenice.

It's hard, but doable if you abuse the save/reload the button, spam Focus, have a good support unit with the Strike spell used next to Garrod, and have all units with a Command aura park next to Garrod, it's boosts his accuracy.

Doing this will not only make you feel like a badass, you also snag a rare part for later use.

Carris will have a flip out moment once you do this, and Tex suspects it's Synapse Syndrome, aka degeneration of the neural synapses that Cyber-Newtypes can experience.

Anyway, get Garrod onto the goal, and Part 2 of the stage begins.

We cut to Garrod inside the Fort Severn base, and he runs into Duo, and Heero even comments Garrod self destructing the Jenice after entry to deter pursuit was a good idea, but he needed to do a better job of it.

They offer to team up with Garrod, and since they know Quatre, he decides to take the offer.

We cut to another part of the base, where a Breaker is reporting Garrod's apparent egress from his Jenice, and just as Nomoa tells the Breakers to shoot to kill, guess who shows up:

Stage19GXh.jpg

Yep, she's still pissed at Garrod, and she knows who Nomoa really is, aka Dr. Dorat, and she knows because her late father, Nanda El, knew Dorat.

She also informs Dorat that her father was killed by an Innocent assassin on suspicion of treason, and since Dorat has a bone of his own to pick with the Innocent and owed a debt to her dad, he asks what she'd like from him.

Garrod. Breathing or not, she doesn't care.

Needless to say, he's down with that.

She offers to help, and Dorat decides to show her something.

One of the BIGGEST mobile armors ever depicted in the entire Gundam franchise:

Stage19GXi.jpg

Seems Ennil's dad was shot by the Innocent for not turning this machine over to the Innocent for their use, hence why Dorat owes him, Nanda El refused to sell him out.

Dorat faked being on the Innocent's side, adopting a fake identity and playing along, all so he could one day turn on them.

In the series, Dorat was a member of the space forces who was abandoned on Earth around the time they killed most of humanity and basically forgot about him.

But he didn't forget them. In fact, he planned to one day make them pay for tossing him aside, adopting a fake identity and suckering Carris into helping him under the false pretense of wanting to ensure peace on Earth.

Basically, Dorat wants the Gallian Innocent to pay for basically killing Nanda El and making him their bitch, and Ennil sympathizes in the extreme.

However, this conversation is overheard by the infiltrators, and they decide to find Tiffa ASAP, as Dorat is planning to stick Tiffa in the Patulia.

We cut to where Carris is with Tiffa, and that's when Garrod busts in and tries to tell Carris he's being played for a fool, and that Carris' Newtype power was built on the corpses of tons of others Nomoa experimented on.

Carris is aware of this, but he's dumb enough to believe it was all for the higher purpose of eventually eternal peace, and you don;t make an omelette without breaking eggs, sad as the dead's loss might be.

And that's when Tiffa breaks the bullshit by destroying the one delusion Carris was fed that was absolute bullshit: Nomoa told Carris Newtype power couldn't exist naturally, but Tiffa explains Nomoa fed him a line of crap on that one.

We cut back to Ennil and Dorat, who realize Tiffa just got whisked from under their nose, and Dorat orders the Breakers to deploy.

Carris then shows up, and he decides to see if he was lied to.

Nomoa/Dorat concedes Carris is not entirely wrong, it is possible for natural Newtypes to exist, but he explains to Carris it's needle in a haystack odds and that Carris' power will still be needed for peace.

Carris decides to engage the denial filter and swallows that horseshit.

We then cut to outside, where it's now nighttime, and Duo and Heero have deployed, preparing to clear out. Tiffa is riding in the Wing Zero, while Garrod is in the Deathscythe, and when Garrod asks why, Duo says he figured the quiet types would get along and wonders if Garrod is jealous.

Garrod weakly denies it, and Duo adds Heero is spoken for, so no worries on that front.

However, that's when the Breakers led by Hola and Geraba show up, enticed by a doubled reward if they recover their targets alive, and Vickman heard that Nomoa is about to deploy a massive Walker Machine.

Both Vickman and Hola both get a bad feeling shit's not gonna end well, and both are prepared to haul ass if worst comes to worst.

Meanwhile, your goal is to get Heero and Duo here alive:

Stage19GXj.jpg

You've got five turns to do this, and unless you are just retarded enough to piss those turns away trading fire with the Breakers, this is easy enough to do.

Once you get both in general vicinity (within about four or so spaces from the goal), the Freeden shows up, and instead of running, Garrod and Tiffa want to save Carris before his mind is shredded to swiss cheese by the Patulia.

Sarah's not sure this is wise, but the Newtypes on the team are all for it, and Four explains she was in a similar spot, and if they can tear out the cockpit block, Carris can be saved.

Carris deploys in the Vertigo, and Ennil is all "Hi Garrod, remember me? I'm still pissed."

Everyone wonders how Garrod got a hot chick obsessed with shooting his ass down, and make Usso cringe, as in his own series he had several batshit adult women both try to make a move on him and try to kill him.

Keep in mind Usso's barely thirteen, so that's just uber creepy.

Anyway, first half is easy, just have Garrod kill the Vertigo while hosing the other Breaker forces down with sustained fire. Do save some heavy firepower, though, this is just part one.

Also, GARROD MUST GET THE VERTIGO KILL SHOT FOR HALF OF GETTING STEP TWO OF THE GUNDAM X SECRET!

Having Garrod take down Ennil's Jenice in this level is not required to get her unit later.

Once you take down Carris, he realizes he was a dumbass and wants Garrod to finish him off, but his escape pod ejects him from his wrecked machine, and Garrod refuses to kill him off.

Garrod then tells Carris to quit being retarded, living is better than dying, and yes, he'll be accepted regardless of past history.

And that's Dorat plays his ace.

I'll let Judau give some scale:

Stage19GXk.jpg

It hauls ass over to Carris' cockpit block and plugs Carris in on Dorat's orders, and immediately goes to work turning Carris into a biological CPU:

Stage19GXl.jpg

Let me warn you all: This thing HITS LIKE A DAMN TANK.

Even with max stats, this thing can kill your units with a direct hit if you aren't careful. Worse, you have five turns to reduce it's HP to under 30% in five turns, and you'll probably eat one with it's activation sequence.

However, if you want the secret and the skill point, YOU MUST DESTROY THE PATULIA WITH GARROD GETTING THE KILL SHOT!

This is not easy, as it's stats make it a monster:

Stage19GXm.jpg

Best way to deal with this thing is to chip it down to just under 40% of it's HP, then have Garrod use Valor and attack with his strongest attack while a strong unit support attacks with him to get the kill, as the battle with this ends if it doesn't die under 30% HP, but we need to destroy it for the Skill Point and to get the Gundam X secret later.

Everyone gets their own dialogue telling Carris to not give up, they will get his ass out of that thing before it destroys him, FYI.

Also, the Breakers will clear out once the Patulia deploys, they don't want to die.

Once you take down the Patulia, Nomoa gets bitched at by Jamil for inflicting the hatred of the past on the people of the present, asking why he can't hope for the future, and Nomoa/Dorat reveals he's all Full Frontal style "fuck humanity, they're done" in outlook.

He admits that while the Earth recovered, humanity didn't, the Innocent are iron fisted dictators, so he just wants to kill them all, and he doesn't give a shit how he has to do it.

Tiifa then chimes in and tells him he is full of shit, and Garrod finally manages to get Carris to overpower the Patulia's grip on his mind as he rips the cockpit block out of the Patulia's core.

You'll know if you you did it right if you get a shitload of EXP after the Patulia goes nova.

However, as Carris is hustled off to the Freeden infirmary, the stage ends.

I'll cover the rest next post, and @Jaimas, be ready, you will LOVE the next stage when the routes unify.

Now to cover the rest of Stage 19 before the two routes unify:

Stage19GXn.jpg

As you can see here, the Shagia is all "okay, that was interesting, but our employers can do even better, no worries here".

Olba concurs that Nomoa/Dorat was a dumbass:

Stage19GXo.jpg

We also find Rosamy managed to be spirited out of Fort Severn in the confusion.

We then cut to the Freeden, where Garrod is checking up on Carris.

We then have a cutaway to Tex announcing Carris isn't screwed, but he'll need to rest a long time before he can move around again.

However, he takes them out of Carris' earshot to explain Synapse Syndrome.

For those not aware of Gundam and Cyber-Newtypes, they, via drugs and mental stimulation artificially enhanced by machines (hence the name), they can assume the same powers as regular Newtypes. However, as this process is artificially induced instead of being a natural quirk of the body, it can lead to Synapse Syndrome, or a degeneration of the neural synapses of the human body.

In IRL terms, such degeneration can lead to uncontrollable muscle tremors, catatonia, insanity, and if pronounced enough, death due to neural shock. It's much the same in Gundam.

Around this time, Kamille gets confirmation from Tiffa Nomoa managed to spirit Rosamy out before the Patulia went nova.

The Bazaar is open, but all they are selling is a GunEZ and Gunblaster, not really worth the trouble.

Hovercrafts are available, and while expensive, a few levels are coming up where they are quite useful, as they ignore rough terrain, allowing full range movement for land units.

The Sattelite Cannon still needs repaired, so you cannot switch out the Divider module for it yet.

A few more things I need to cover: A "unified route is just as it implies, the band is all together and not split up, but it only follows the canon of the route you picked prior, so you have to sacrifice any Gundam X secrets on the Turn A path and vice versa.

To avoid having units be underleveled, when units on the route you didn't pick return, they have been leveled up to the average yours should be at. They will also pilot their "default" units instead of any different units, just in case the next level requires certain pilots in certain units for plot reasons.

Also, for those playing and following along, the next level is the same for both routes, same Skill Point too, just the names of the level and your starting positions will be different depending on previous route choice.

Have speedy units with the Mercy spell handy, especially if you cheating to Max Money and leveled all units to max, you could screw up the next level if you don't. And even if you play legit, still a good idea just in case, an errant critical hit could spell a game over.

I'll cover Stage 20 soon, but let's just say you Gundam 0083 fans are gonna have some serious deja vu, especially if you played previous SRW games.

Stage 20: Invasion From The Past/Relic of the Black History

Alright, this is the stage I know @Jaimas has been waiting for, and it's got two things he will love:

Dicking over the Moon Race and the GP-02 Gundam.

Also, the Mountain Cycles on this map will contain the following units based on difficulty:

(as determined by here: http://akurasu.net/wiki/Super_Robot_Wars/Alpha_Gaiden/Secrets)

  • Easy (5 skill points or less): Sazabi, Zeta II
  • Normal (6-14 skill points): V Gundam Hexa, Gunblaster
  • Hard (15 skill points or more): GM Quel, GunEZ
Yeah, we're on Hard, so we get the lame stuff.

-----

We start with the peeps aboard the Soliel, where Kihel!Diana is getting filled in by Phil and Milan of the Militia finding another mountain cycle, how Fort Severn was defeated by apparent Militia forces, and how Moon Race units unaffiliated with the Diana Counter have been fighting Militia forces.

According to Phil, they are the same ones who tried to kill Diana earlier and whom Corin Nander is associated with. As in, members of the Ghingham Army, under Gym Ghingham's command.

Phil advocates they assume it's all going to hell and step up the conquest of Earth, and when Kihel!Diana is like "isn't that a bit drastic?", Phil is all "the situation demands drastic action".

Kihel!Diana tries to argue against this, but she's basically told she's being naive, and she's basically overruled.

We then cut to slightly later, where Harry is asked by Daina who she thinks wants to oust her, and that is assumed to be Agrippa Maintainer, leader of the lunar capital of Gengenham, who has Gym Ghingham's support.

With that in mind, since Harry seems to be actually loyal to the actual Diana and her hands are tied, Kihel!Diana sends Harry to meet up with Diana!Kihel, figuring he'll suss out the truth from that side and get more done on that end.

We then cut to the Freeden, where Hyouma is all 0_0 that the Argamma has been found per the end of the Moon Race route. The Freeden intends to meet up with the Argamma, but they are aware of lot of hostile Breaker/Vulture activity between them and the goal, so Jamil has recon units scout ahead as they head for the Argamma.

Duo plans to look for Trowa and Wufei in the process, and Kosuke asks them to find Masaki, he's STILL lost.

This makes all the other team members do a mass facepalm, and when we cut to the recon team of the present GW pilots later, Duo realizes he might have been :optimistic: about actually finding three notorious loners.

And that's when Heero hits upon an idea to find Masaki, one that is pretty damn drastic.

He plans to use the Zero System to hunt Masaki down.

For you non-GW spergs, the Zero System is essentially an interface that sync with the pilot's mental state to heighten their senses and make them super combat capable. Unfortunately, all this hyper stimulation has a tendency to drive most who use it insane, and Heero is one of the few who can use it and not have his eggs scrambled, and he's hoping to essentially turn himself into a human GPS system.

Duo is all "uh, isn't that overkill", but with no leads, has no better idea.

And that's when, just as Heero heads off, Quatre and Duo notice someone fighting ahead of their position.

And it's Wufei, Trowa, and the Elemental Lord pilots.

But as they head off, Quatre is still in shock over the apparent IFF signature of the enemy of they are fighting.

We cut to the battle map, where they are surrounded by Mechabeasts. Cenia is the only one advocating discretion being the better part of valor, but the intelligence chief of La Gias is overruled by the sheer hotblooded stubborness of her teammates, so she shrugs and join in, but says they still need to clear out soon, as their is an unknown heat signature nearby they have no clue about.

Anyway, this shouldn't be too hard. The Mechabeasts are fifteen in total, each one of the lamer, weaker models you fought before, save for some Jenova M9s and Genocider F9s, but don't let them gang up on anyone.

If possible, park over Mountain Cycles if you want free units depending on your Skill Points, but try to make it as far as you can to the other side of the map, the Skill Point will depends on it.

Otherwise, your basic goal is survival, and the mountains provide good defense cover if you need it.

After a few turns, you'll see this Moon Race guy:

Stage20a.jpg

They are digging up a mobile suit capable of firing nuclear warheads, and I'm sure you Gundam 0083 fans know what that means, and I think it goes without saying letting the Moonfags get their hands on shit like that is beyond a bad idea.

Especially because this Midgard asshole wants to hand them over to the Ghingham Army.

The turn after this, the Deathscythe and Sandrock will show up,

After a few more turns and some dead Mechabeasts later, this pants pissing moment happens:

Stage20b.jpg

That's right people, that is nuclear cannon equipped GP-02 Physalis Gundam, and we do NOT want these bastards to get away with it.

The good news is that it's SLOW. The bad news is that all Midgard has to do is make it to the other side of the map (which he's facing), and you lose.

Cenia immediately realizes the above, and the Gundam pilots nearly shit their cockpit seats.

I'll let Duo speak for me:

Stage20c.jpg

Your mission will be to do enough damage it can't move, but DO NOT DESTROY IT, that would be very bad for reasons I don't need to belabor.

Battle map time:

Stage20d.jpg

The GP-02 is in the center of those red dots, and if it makes it all the way to the end of the screen it's facing, you lose. If you blow it up, you lose because you just cooked a nuke off in your face.

The goal is to reduce it to 10% or less of it's HP without blowing it up. This is also your Skill Point.

Now, as anyone who has played previous SRW games where you have to stop Anavel Gato from stealing the GP-02 or other Gundam games with the same goal, I first advise getting ahead of the damned thing, then surrounding it with bodies.

Midgard will care far more about defending himself than attacking, and his guards aren't too much a pain in the ass, but you should first ensure he has nowhere to run.

Then carefully whittle his HP down, and if you worry you might destroy it towards the lower end of the HP meter, have a unit with the Mercy spell cast it to prevent accidental destruction with their next attack.

Thankfully, the Freeden shows up next turn, and you can deploy 8 units. Make surer they are fast, have Mercy, and can either fly or cross rough terrain with little issue, then have them kill Midgard's escorts and surround the bastard.

Roybea will also notice Trowa's Gundam and notice the creepy similarities.

Here's the stats of the GP-02:

Stage20e.jpg

As you can see, it's got far less HP than the Patulia, but just as much armor, and it will be in constant defend mode, so be careful whittling it down, don;t be ashamed to save/reload or use savestates if on an emulator, a stray critical hit could screw you over.

On Turn 6, the Frost Brothers will show up, just to make your life harder and help Midgard abscond with the nukes, but on the next turn, this is counterbalanced by the Wing Zero and Cybuster showing up to even the odds, accompanied by Masaki bitching it's not his fault he was born with broken internal compass.

Also, I know Jaimas might appreciate this cat pun:

Stage20f.jpg

FYI, you don't have to kill the Frost Brothers, but doing so nets you some rare parts, so at least try if possible.

If you did everything right, this happens.

Stage20g.jpg

Midgard realizes he needs to haul ass now the GP-02 can't move, and as the GP-02 is secure, the Argamma and Iron Gear show up as the stage ends.

We cut to Kou on the Argamma, whose reaction is entirely understandable:

Stage20h.jpg

Jamil figures since the Argamma crew knows how to deal with the GP-02, they can handle it, and Bright is prepared to keep it under lock and key. Burning asks if Bright is contemplating ever allowing it to be used, and he's all "are you kidding?"

FUN FACT: You can get a second non-plot attached GP-02 later, you can use that one without Bright saying a word. And it comes with nukes too.

Lily Borjarno doesn't get what is so dangerous about the GP-02, so Guin explains just why nukes are bad in a manner that would do Hideo Kojima proud.

After this, all the teams compare notes, and they realize the Moon Race has two factions: The Diana Counter, and the fight happy assholes you've had to deal with.

Jamil fill in the blanks on the Ghingham fleet, heavily implying from his dialogue they are descendants of the SDF forces.

Given how things stand, everyone takes the Diana Counter to be the Earth Federation military analogue, while the Ghingham Army are the Moon Race Titan analogue, which isn't too far off.

Guin is then more than a little shocked when he hears how much of a clusterfuck the Fort Severn situation turned out to be. Jamil explains the Innocent are so paranoid they probably assume anyone they don't trust deserve to be shot on sight, which includes all present.

Elche then fields the obvious objection that why would the Innocent want to kill them if they initially wanted their help, and Jamil replies they have the Turn A and GX, which could mean the Innocent feel the present company are too dangerous to trust.

Quattro against tries to turn down Guin and Lily on fighting their enemies, and the rest of the dialogue proceeds like it did at the end of Stage 19 for the Moon Race arc.

We then cut to where Loran is visiting Kihel surreptitiously at night, and Ryouma notices and decides to have a look see, especially because Loran dropped the manual to the Turn A so he hand it back to him.

We find that Loran has realized the switcheroo between Kihel and Diana, and Diana is understandably worried for Kihel's safety. Ryouma then walks up, having overheard, but he tells them until they decide to come clean, he'll keep quiet, as he realizes their secret isn't one out of malice.

We cut back to the Argamma, where Hayato asks Ryouma pointedly where he went and Hayato assumes Ryouma is hiding something, and Hayato then proceeds to guess, rather accurately, that Kihel Heim isn't the real Kihel.

Ryouma tells Hayato even if he's wrong, keep that assumption to himself, and when Hayato asks if Ryouma is making that an order as Getter team lead, Ryouma does just that, and Hayato back down, pleased to see Ryouma really did let his balls drop for once.

And that's when Megumi runs up to them and tells them Duo and Tetsuya are fighting with each other.

We cut to where Keith is trying in vain to get Duo and Tetsuya to calm down, but Tetsuya is being a massive asshole, claiming Duo should have investigated the Mountain Cycle faster, else the GP-02 would have fallen into enemy hands for sure.

Duo points out they had people to save first, but Tetsuya doesn't give a shit, and then he decides to be an even bigger dick by shitting on Quatre for almost letting a nuke go off because he was incompetent.

Kouji shows up and tells Tetsuya to chill the fuck out, but as he and Ryouma try in vain to get Tetsuya to quit austistically screeching about shit, he tells them all they need to get the thumbs out their asses and be more alert from now on, then stomps off.

Personally, I think Tetsuya needs to get the dick out of his own ass first.

We then cut to Tetsuya's bitchy monologue between him and Jun at the end of Stage 19 of the Moon Race arc as the stage ends.

The Bazaar is open and are offering a range of Walker Machines, a Gelgoog Marine, and a Xamel, if having a vintage UC Gundam Zeon artillery unit is your bag.

As for parts, look into Solar Panels and Anti-Beam Coatings, they are pretty valuable if you got the stones to get them.

Also, the band is back together, so upgrade anyone you want now, reassign pilots to suits you prefer them in, and be ready for the next few stages.

Stage 21: The Surface, In My Hands

We start this level in aftermath of the GP02 incident, which, as Bright and Burning note, has cast a pall over the crew. Given how tempers are flaring, Bright elects to have the Preventer specific members gather for a meeting, with Cenia included, as Bright wants her insights.

We cut to the hangar, where Torres is all 0_0 Masaki was finally found, but is even more 0_0 Heero had to use the Zero System to do it. We also find out Masaki once got horribly lost inside the SDF-1 Macross once.

We also find out from Duo and Trowa they heard there is another group in a transforming landship raising hellfire and brimstone, and Jiron realizes whatever the end gamer of the Innocent, given the events of Fort Severn, what they are really up to has to be sinister.

Meanwhile, inside the Freeden, Roybea is strawbossing some of the others around to set up a lounge area, and when Puru and Precia can't carry some heavy stuff, Combattler's gentle giant does the needful:

Stage21a.jpg

Garrod wanders in and has no clue what is going on, and Roybea explains:

Jamil rehired himself and Witz (they are technically under dual employ of Elche and Jamil, whoever has more need of their services at the moment), and as part of their new contract, they wanted to set up a place where they can relax on ship in-between doing their jobs, and Jamil thus had no object to a spare storage room being retrofitted for that purpose.

There is even a pool table, and Ippei mentions he's played some billiards before, and Witz gets a bit ragged by the ladies for putting a bear ornament on the wall, which they consider tacky, and Garrod bows out of helping finish the job, citing he needs to fix the GX (while Tonya and Witz engage in some ass backwards flirting), but as he leaves, Tonya says he's seeing Tiffa, despite his claims.

We also find out while Jamil was cool with the whole rec room idea, Sarah was a sourpuss over it.

Before I continue, I should mention this scene was almost identical to it's Gundam X version, just SRW took it and extended it to include the other characters.

We then cut to Tex, who tells Tiffa she seems to be on the mend.

As she leaves, Jamil confers with Tex, and they have the same suspicions Hayato did:

That Kihel Heim and Diana Sorrel have switched places.

Both admit the evidence is thin, but Jamil met Diana once, and he's also got another woman on his mind named Lucille.

More on that later as we cut to the briefing room, where the eggheads led by Sarumaru share their findings.

Essentially, the reason they found nigh pristine machines from the past in working order was due to them being buried in soil treated with nanoskin regenerators, or the soil itself was a protective barrier essentially retarding rust, corrosion, and entropy. The Moon Race itself are also using units with this same nanoskin armor. It also seems both the earth and moon had the tech on hand, and if used for destructive purposes, this nano tech could be used to destroy as well as create.

They also note the technological stasis means that civilization has stopped and restarted more than once, with the shockwave Project Aegis was meant to prevent being one of the sources, but given how much survived of the lunar station, that means Aegis succeeded to some extent, so that can't have been the only cause of the destruction from the past.

That leaves the Mountain Cycles and preserved Mechabeasts as open questions. The former could have been for in case they were needed for another battle, while the latter it is doubtful it was done intentionally, since Mechabeasts are programmed to be hostile to humans as a rule.

As for the fact nigh all buried tech is from the Balmar War era, it is speculated, with good reason by Millardo, that since humanity hit it's zenith in mobile suit production around that time, said tech was preserved for later generations. Quattro adds this may also be due to civilization ending after that period, hence that's all that could be preserved for later millennia.

Quattro then mentioned he's worried further interference in this timeline could be disastrous and they need to find a way back to their own. Amuro counters there is no known way to move backward in time according to the tech they have on hand, a fact that discomforts everyone else and lends credibility to Quattro's point.

However, Amuro disagrees, pointing out so many things specific to their time have resurfaced in this era, meaning they have a dog in the fights of this time period, and before the point can be argued, Torres calls from the Argamma bridge to Bright to report a bizarre situation outside.

I'll let him explain:

Stage21b.jpg

Hyouma wonders what's the big deal, and Torres mentions the temperature is getting dangerously hot too.

Dr. Anzai then asks if it's a volcanic area, but Torres says according to scans prior,it was just a temperate forest region.

And that's when everyone realizes they've all seen someone make this happen deliberately before.

ESPECIALLY the Getter team.

He then asks Bright to send them ahead, just in case their mutual suspicion is correct.

It's at this point SRW bends to real world logic, as Bright says all pilots in non airtight machines need to wear environmental protection gear, which would attenuate the heat and high CO2 levels.

As the battle begins, you can choose which carriers to launch, pick whichever you want.

You can then pick twelve units, pick aerial units, those who are equipped with Hovercrafts, or who have excellent land ratings, the terrain is pretty hard to traverse otherwise.

And it seems Ryouma's fears especially were dead on.

Stage21c.jpg

Kosuke mentions the surround vegetation and atmosphere is about on par with the Mesosozic Era, and according to Dr. Anzai, the source of the heightened CO is spouting from the ground, in a manner that is clearly not natural.

And that's when a shitload of Mechasaurus enemies appear.

That's right, for those of you who are Getter fans, it's the Dinosaur Empire.

And this is their commander, General Bat in his Zori.

Stage21d.jpg

Stage21e.jpg

Everyone who fought them before is like "didn't we drive these assholes back into the magma layer during the Balmar War", prompting Hayato to snark,

"They survived 65 million years of extinction to show up during the Balmar War, surely they could have just went back underground and come back again after several dozen thousand more."

And that's when General Bat has a massive WTF moment as he realizes the GETTER ROBO is right in front of him, as they should be long dead.

Ryouma snaps that as long as they are still around, they will continue to piss the Dinosaur Empire off, and General Bat has a bit of mad cackling moment as he realizes some shit never changes, so he'd better kill the Getter and their allies now.

Ryouma wants to go all gung ho, by Hayato wants to assess the situation a bit, as they don;t know what transpired between their time and now, nor the final endgame of the Dinosaur Empire now, but Ryouma doesn't care, prompting a cockfight in their cockpits leading Ryouma to tell Hayato to fuck off if he won't obey orders.

Ryouma does just that, and it turns out Hayato was right, the Dinosaur Empire prepared the Uran Spark, an anti-Getter countermeasure, just in case.

Stage21f.jpg

Essentially, it takes Getter Rays, which power the Getter Robo, and turns them into an alternate form of radiation harmful to humans. Note, unprotected exposure to regular variety isn't a good idea either, but this version is deliberately meant to be lethal to humanity.

This leaves the Getter team with a sadistic choice: Keep going and die when the now lethal radiation overpowers their radiation filters, or lower the Getter Rays from the mech reactor and become a sitting duck.

Hayato realizes the latter is the only sane choice, but even though this kept them alive, Bat gloats:

Stage21g.jpg

He also confirms he's still pissed at Londo Bell:

Stage21h.jpg

At this point the fight begins, and here's the map:

Stage21i.jpg

You need to haul ass over to the Getter and keep it from being destroyed. It can still fight and, but it cannot change forms or use it's best attacks, and has it's HP cut in half.

You also need to interdict the Dinosaur Empire forces and to get the Skill Point, take down the Zori.

It will retreat at 20% Hp on Easy, 30% on Normal, and 40% on Hard, or when you kill all the other foes, so make sure you kill it with a strong unit with a strong support attack.

An overview of your foes:

Stage21j.jpg

These are weak but fast aerial scout units.

Stage21k.jpg

These have weaker armor but stronger attacks.

Stage21l.jpg

As for the Zori itself, it's a slow yet strong carrier with good long range attacks, and Bat has the Prevail skill, meaning his stats rise is his HP goes down.

tl;dr; He's not a pushover, be careful.

If Bat fights Ryouma, he's really wants to kill the Getter:

Stage21m.jpg

If he runs, he laments not having sufficient forces to kick your ass. If you destroy the Zori, he's grudgingly impressed by your power.

As the battle ends, Ryouma is still in shock over all that has happened, and everyone falls back to assess things. Loran wonders if the transformation the land went through can be reversed, and Amuro says not at present, which disturbs Loran greatly, realizing with enemies like this, the Moon Race is fucking idiotic to be fighting other humans at this point.

As everyone leaves, this mysterious unit shows up as the same music from the prologue fires up, saying the Dinosaur Empire has revived and has but one goal, then deploys this mist:

Stage21n.jpg

Stage21o.jpg

Stage21p.jpg

Stage21q.jpg

After this ominous scene, we cut to where General Bat is reporting to his boss:

Stage21r.jpg

Bat explains they were outdone by an old foe, and Gore figures that one out immediately, and his chief scientist confirms Bat's report:

Stage21s.jpg

In fact, Gallery had a good idea Getter Robo was around and sent Bat out with the Uran Spark just in case. Bat's a bit pissed he was basically sent into a possible trap, and Bat confirms Getter's friends were along for the ride.

Gore is pleased:

Stage21t.jpg

He then gives orders to "awaken them, they'll be pleased to hear this",and that he proposes a toast:

"To the revival of the Dinosaur Empire, and to the death of our sworn foe, Getter Robo!"

I'll cover the rest in the next post.

Before I go on, going to explain some things for people who aren't Getter Robo fans.

Getter Robo was the grand-daddy of multiple form transforming robot shows, and was created by Ken Ishikawa, though Go Nagai of the Mazinger series lent some ideas and occasionally collaborated with Ken in Getter/Mazinger crossovers.

The original Getter series was about the Dinosaur Empire, who almost died 65 million years ago, coming back to take back over Earth, and thankfully, Professor Saotome discovered an energy that could harm them called Getter Rays, and he built a machine called Getter Robo that could kick their scaly asses.

He recruited a martial artist named Ryouma Nagare, a semi-reformed street punk named Hayato Jin, and a portly karate friend of Ryouma's named Musahsi Tomoe (with Benkei Kuruma, a soccer coach, as his substitute) to be the three pilots of the Getter, and they would set the bar for crazy awesome badass, even back in the 70s TV era, where the intense violence of the original manga had to be watered down for TV.

The TV series tend to be their own universes, whereas the manga tend to share continuity, and SRW has used elements of both where needed, and they adapted the general plot of the first series for Alpha, where they introduced everything, and Alpha Gaiden, where they get all the plot done.

Alpha 2 will have you fight them again, but it'll be abbreviated since they got all the plot done in this game, as you will destroy them in the fucked up future in Alpha Gaiden, then for real by Alpha 2, where you get back to contemporary time.

Getter Rays are the power source of the series, and they are literally the inducers of evolution. The Dinosaur Empire is scared of Getter Rays because they can't evolve further, such power would kill them trying to evolve them, it's their equivalent of a being petrified of nuclear weapons.

They can be dangerous to humans, as Getter Rays can overwhelm humans and mutate them, and it's generally only via the Getter can they be channeled safely.

I also need to specify this series is loaded with badass motherfuckers. EVERYONE gets a chance to be a badass. In fact, let me cover some highlights:

Ryouma Nagare once ran up a PERFECTLY SMOOTH surface, telling the lack of friction to fuck itself, just so he could kick some ass.

Hayato Jin was a no shit terrorist in New Getter Robo, and he vivisected peoples faces off with his bare hands.

Professor Saotome himself nearly killed himself early on being the third Getter pilot until he found Mushashi and Benkei. He also knocked Ryouma unconscious with his wooden geta in New Getter Robo, after Ryouma sliced one of the assassins the doc hired to test Ryouma in half with a sword flung so hard the sheer force rent the guy in half.

In Getter Robo Armagedden, the Professor was such a badass he stopped the drill bit of the Getter Liger WITH HIS BARE FUCKING FINGER.

Kei Kurama in Getter Robo Armageddon once beat the shit out of the enemy while completely naked, not letting a little thing like modesty stop her from having bigger balls than most of the men in the series.

In the original manga, Professor Shikishima (the guy who invented the original Getter's missile gatling gun) scared a Dinosaur Empire assassin team shitless by demanding Ryouma kill him in the most over the top, bloody fashion possible, make a selfie with as much detail given to the gore as possible, and goes into graphic majesty over how much blood he wants to lose and where he wants his entrails to land.

His epic morbid fantasy was so creepy fucking huge dinosaur killers pissed themselves and fled.

In Getter Robo Hien, America proves it's got massive brass by turning the Statue of Liberty into a massive wave cannon to fuck up a gigantic plant monster.

....I'm gonna stop right there, just fucking watch and read this people, it was the inspiration for the crazy shit in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and if you don't grow chest hair seeing this shit (even if you are a woman), I would be honestly surprised.

Getter Robo

I still found unfair that Bampresto refuse to use Getter Robots from other materials but Mazinger get all the goodies from extra materials like Mazinger ZERO, but there is no love for Getter Devolve or Getter Emperor, and Emperor can be added because we got the Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan completely with Galaxy Shurikens (and appears briefly in the Shin Shine Spark animation)

To be somewhat fair to them, the Getter Emperor would be hard to slot into the plot, given that it literally ate planets at one point just to bulk its own mass up, and that would dick over a ton of plots that require certain planets to exist for anything to make sense.

Now to finish up Stage 21.

Garrod is the first one to start asking the Preventers hard questions, because it's obvious they knew about those dinosaur people. Jamil tries to calm him down, but Roybea sticks up for Garrod's fairly reasonable point, and even the Turn A cast are pressed to agree.

Usso decides, fuck it, the time for secrets is over, so he reveals they are from the past.

Jamil and Diana!Kihel kinda suspected that the whole time, and Guin is in shock, they very well are from time of the Black History, and Amuro confirms that, while Quattro says the moniker "Irregulars" the Innocent gave them would be pretty accurate, and then asks Garrod if he's satisfied, as they kept it secret until now for fear of damaging this timeline.

Garrod is a bit taken aback by this, and Jamil asks what their intentions are. Amuro says they want to return to their own time, assuming that possible, to avoid messing up this time period if also possible.

That gives Garrod an idea to see if Tiffa knows anything, and Quattro remarks to himself she reminds him a LOT of Lalah Sune (Char's first love interest from the original Gundam).

We then cut to the hangar, where Ryouma asks Hayato if he cut the Getter's reactor, and he's all "Yes, I did."

To Hayato's surprise, Ryouma falls on his sword and admits he owes Hayato his life. Rgeardless, Hayato still isn't sure he's willing to take orders from Ryouma forever if he keeps doing stupid shit and walks off.

Loran then asks Ryouma to come with him and "Kihel" to speak privately.

Diana has come to conclusion she needs to return to her people, what she's learned has made her realize there are grave threats she must address not only for the Moon Race but for the good of all humanity.

She then tells Ryouma she knows he's from the past, but seeing as he and his friend are still concerned about the fate of others despite that, she feels she must do the same for others as well, even if she must reveal her true identity.

Loran worries that could backfire, but Diana has some iron in her spine as she says she has a mission to meet with the Innocent and settle things between the Moon Race and Earth peacefully, and she has every intention of not shirking that duty.

As the stage ends, the Bazaar has nothing new.

----------

Before I go on to the next stage, I want to cover a few things, especially for someone like @Jaimas, who really hated how Turn A's cast acted like fools.

Super Robot Wars has not often addressed time travel as a plot device, but when they do, it generally follows a theme where the people who traveled to another time period impress on others the importance of not repeating past mistakes.

This theme was shown in Super Robot Wars Reversal by the heroes traveling to the past to prevent the worst horrors of the future, impressing on the casts of shows like Gundam X, Martian Successor Nadescio, and various others the importance of not making the same mistakes that led to the even more fucked up future world they came from.

Super Robot Wars V did this with Hathaway Noah and Full Frontal as well as Jerid Mesa and Yazan Gable.

SRW V was show with travel to the same universes at different points in time, and Hathaway Noah was redeemed from his fate in Hathaway's Flash by seeing how his life would end if he fell into the path of hatred that led to his death in the world where he became the terrorist Mufty Nabiyu Erin, and he realized how wrong he would be to follow that path, allowing him to live as a hero to pilot the same Xi Gundam he did as Mufty, but would not fall to the same path of murder and terror.

Full Frontal, partially due to Banagher's influence and partially due to seeing where his path would end if he continued his nihilistic campaign against the Federation, was redeemed and decided that if humanity was to have any faith, he'd have to be the one to show some first, lest his nihilistic hatred become a self fulfilling prophecy.

Jerid Mesa and Yazan Gable survived to the events of Gundam Unicorn due to an alternate series of events towards the end of Zeta Gundam, and Jerid and Kamille finally came to the realization the hatred they had escalated between them had led to the deaths of so many they cared for, and that if they wanted the cycle of death and hatred to end, they'd have to be the first ones to beat their swords into plowshares.

As for Yazan, in a rather bizarre turn for SRW, his survival of Zeta and his subsequent fall from that time softened his perspective, and while still somewhat bloodthirsty, he was convinced "if you can't beat'em, join'em".

So yeah, YAZAN "THE ANIMAL" GABLE BECAME A FULLY PLAYABLE CHARACTER ON THE HEROES SIDE.

SRW Alpha Gaiden was the first game to use time travel as a theme, and it set the foundation of how SRW games would use time travel plots to redeem others from both the past and the future.

Stage 22: The Mysterious, Unknown Landship

This stage has two secrets, some mountain cycle units and part 2 of getting Ennil's custom Jenice.

The Mountain Cycle stuff:

(courtesy of the Akarasu wiki)

ZZ Gundam Full Armor Parts - You get this unit from the mountain cycle if you have 5 or less Skill Points.
VF-1 Armored Valkyrie - You get this unit from the mountain cycle if you have 6 to 16 Skill Points.
VF-11B Fighter - You get this unit from the mountain cycle if you have 17 or more Skill Points.

As for the Ennil Jenice secret, deploy Garrod and have him fight her once.

-----

We resume with Judau wishing everyone good morning, and we find he loves the bread the Donkey Bakery makes, and we also find out Garrod is clueless as hell about dating.

We then cut to Loran, who gets cornered by Sochie, and he gets a chance to tell Sochie the truth about Diana!Kihel or not.

Even if you decide to tell the truth, Loran will wimp out of doing so, and we find out Sochie notices Loran isn't all eager to pilot the Turn A unless he has to, and Sochie thinks Loran has the hots for her sister (well, technically, he does, just her body double) and obviously has the hots for HIM herself.

Thankfully, Ryouma shows up and bails Loran out that uncomfortable dialogue, and we cut to Diana!Kihel wanting to head to Gallia to settle things with the Innocent. Unfortunately, getting that arranged without issues would be a pain in the ass, but Ryouma decides to see if he can help with that.

He bumps into Garrod enroute to see Tiffa, and since Ryouma isn't sure what his next move is, he decides to follow Garrod and see if Tiffa's got a clue for him, though Garrod thinks Ryouma's got a thing for Tiffa, amusingly enough.

Shakti and Karl are visiting Tiffa, and it seems Tiffa drew a picture of a coastline and a crag formation, saying if they go there, they will learn something, and since they need some extrapolation of the geography to make sense of Tiffa's hint, Garrod decides to hit up Sid for advice.

And that's when we discover why Tiffa is so withdrawn. She feels like a reverse Cassandra of Troy, in that her visions of doom are believed, and since it causes so much pain for everyone, her included, she's scared of interacting with others, and when Shakti tells her she can't be that way forever, Tiffa concedes the point.

Sid and Josef recognize the picture once Garrod shows it him and Jamil, and the upshot of the conversation is that need to heads towards Gallia like Ryouma hoped he could arrange since it means his interest in helping Loran and Tiffa's hint where to go dovetail nicely.

Guin is a bit worried this will leave Inglessia a sitting duck, but Lily makes a case for the opposite:

Since the good guys have the GX and Turn A, and since they tend to attract trouble like a magnet, it will draw trouble away from Inglessia if they head to Gallia.

Guin sees the logic in this and figures it's a good plan, so he wishes everyone well on their way.

We cut all the way to the Soliel, where Milan and Phil discuss the Preventer's movements. Phil wants to stop them before they meet up with the Innocent because he thinks they are trying to join forces, and when Milan points out Diana put her foot down on they can't do that, Phil decides to toss the subordination rules aside and tell Milan Diana is a fool, and since they came to Earth with hostile forces waiting back home, they need to get something accomplished here sooner or later, and if Daina wants to hang them out to dry, they should be ready to do that to her.

Milan is actually considering it as we cut away.

We cut to the battle map, where Elche is asking Josef (called Joseph here, the translators were a tad inconsistent) how far till the coast, and that's when Medic (yeah, that's his name) asks Elche if they can stop by the nearby town for more supplies since the Iron Gear is running low.

With that decided, Elche rings up the Freeden and Argamma tells them to head onwards, they'll catch up after their supply run, then details Rag to do the purchasing. They also discuss what is supposed to be landship that sounds like a counterpart to the Iron Gear around the area.

The Freeden and Argamma then head out after receipting the message, and what they don't know is that this asshole is back:

Stage22a.jpg

Apparently, the Innocent have put a hit out on the Iron Gear crew, and Timp plans to collect, and that's when some Breaker named Giro asks Timp if they can depend on 'that woman", and Timp is all "we're using her, that's all, but if we aren't careful, my subterfuge goes down the toilet".

Giro kisses Timp's ass, and Timp is PLEASED to be considered a dirty bastard in a fight, and he gets pissed because Giro forgets to call him Captain.

As we cut away, we have the J9 theme fire up, and we find Pancho Poncho is arranging a merc job for the Cosmo Rangers, as they have adapted to this world like ducks to water.

Apparently, their client is Ennil, who is annoyed they seem to be late.

That's when Issac pulls up, and Bowie has this opinion of Ennil.

Stage22b.jpg

Seems Ennil wants them to kill the crew of the Iron Gear, and while her story is that they have spread war and Ennil wants to put a stop to it, Isaac points out a better target would be the Moon Race.

Ennil's response is to drop 50 million in gold on the table, by way of saying "shut the fuck up, don't ask questions, you're getting paid through the nose."

Pancho is all "SOLD!", though Isaac is skeptical of the deal, but he decides to play along and asks where the target is. Poncho wants to get an advance for the job, but Isaac tells him to forego that, they'll do it.

Obviously Isaac can see where this is going, and doesn't want to come off as more of a ripoff artist than he knows this job may make him look later.

When the J9 confer later, Isaac confesses this job has suspicious written all over it, and when Bowie decides to let his dick think instead of brain and asks why Isaac can't trust a woman that gets a guy hard just looking at her, Omachi reminds Bowie that roses can have thorns.

Kid asks Isaac what the flip side of the deal is, and Isaac isn't sure, but he's sure they are being made pawns of someone if they act blindly, and Omachi realizes where he's going with this.

Isaac then says to confirm to the client they are on the job and to tell the Cyber Beast Force out on recon to stand by.

We cut to where Elche is on the bridge of the Iron Gear, checking her watching and wondering if Rag is done shopping yet.

And that's when the Daitank appears in front of them.

Yeah, the Daitarn 3,due to it's sheer size and transforming capability, it got mistaken for a land ship, but makes sense really.

As the Iron Gear goes into Walker mode, that's when Banjou's kid sidekick Toppo confirms things.

Stage22c.jpg

Banjou plans to exchange shots with the Iron Gear until they can get the facts ascertained.

As the fight starts, DON'T shoot back. Defend or evade.

Banjou realizes that the Iron Gear has his line of thinking, so he changes to the Datairn 3 form to goose their attention, and gives his series catch phrase, word for word:

Stage22d.jpg

Just want to add, Banjou Haran does not fuck around when he says this shit. He was so serious when he faced Gurren Lagann's Lord Genome in SRWZ2 Hakai-hen LORD GENOME was intimidated.

After another turn, Isaac radios Reika, and she tells Banjou the farce is ending.

So Banjou uses his Big Web attack to "trap" the Iron Gear to flush Timp out. Timp then smugly tells a shocked Elche he's too tough to die and then tells Banjou to hold them tight so he can shoot them in the face.

Banjou realizes that Timp doesn't care if he dies and calls him on it.

Just as Timp is about to get all :smug: in response, his land ship gets shot from out of nowhere.

Cue the J9 and separated Cyber Beast Force machines standing shoulder to shoulder, ready to cold cock Timp again.

Meanwhile, Ennil realizes the J9 saw through Timp's ploy, but that's fine, she wants Garrod's head on a pike, this should draw him out:

Stage22e.jpg

Around this time the Argamma shows up to check up on you guys, they got worried, and Jiron deploys in the Xabungle.

You can sortie seven units of your choosing. (SORTIE GARROD IF YOU WANT ENNIL'S CUSTOM JENICE, OTHERWISE SHE WON'T APPEAR TO FIGHT GARROD)

Elche then realizes that the J9/CBF are friends along with Daitarn, and Jiron is fucking livid to see Timp is still alive. Ennil will show up to fight Garrod.

Now that the fight begins for real, your Skill Point:

KILL THAT MOTHERFUCKER TIMP IN THREE TURNS OR HE RUNS LIKE A BITCH.

Here's his ship:

Stage22f.jpg

The Givros/Gibros is merely a slightly tougher Delavasglan, nothing more. Timp does have the Prevail skill, so killing him at low HP will take a bit of work for weak units.

If Elche fights Timp, he confirms they put a hit out on the Iron Gear.

If Banjou fights Timp, he warns Banjou he'll wind up on the Innocent shit list and Banjou's all "who cares".

If you kill Timp, his goons automatically fall back.

When the level ends, Duo is all "those hotshot breakers where the J9/CBF all along?".

We then cut to the bridge where Banjou is conferring with Bright and confirming he's caught up to to speed on this world and Bright lets him know their current course.

We then cut to the Freeden, where the Iron Gear says Tiffa's landmark should be up ahead. Jamil tells Sarah to take care of things while he scouts ahead with Tiffa.

We then cut to Garrod doing recon outside with Kouji, Puru and Kamille, and seeing the ocean make Puru want to go swimming. Usso tries to be the serious one, and here's Kouji reason forwhy Puru's idea should be followed up:

Stage22g.jpg

Thankfully, Usso changes the subject to the landmark, which he just spotted, and Pur sees a pillar of light coming from the Moon.

So does Garrod:

Stage22h.jpg

Jamil noticed it too, and he's all 0_0 that someone else has a GX, and that also means there is a Newtype in the same area as the stage ends.

The Bazaar has a Government and a Gunblaster for sale, if you're interested.

Usso tries to be the serious one, and here's Kouji reason forwhy Puru's idea should be followed up:

I always found weird how Kouji representation in SRT is very inconsistent, in some games he is a HOT BLOODED HERO that yells his attacks and punch god in the face like it was nothing, in others he is the same but with a very naive touch that doesnt even notice the advances that Sayaka or any other girl do to him (remember the final stage of V where he practically cockblocked himself with his "i love earth" speech) Bampresto also like to switch between his Great Mazinger and OVA incarnations, in V it was a little weird because the Kouji from Shin Mazinger Z was piloting the ZERO even when the Kouji from ZERO is totally different

Im expecting that they update him in the next Super robot taisen with his new movie incarnation

I always found weird how Kouji representation in SRT is very inconsistent, in some games he is a HOT BLOODED HERO that yells his attacks and punch god in the face like it was nothing, in others he is the same but with a very naive touch that doesnt even notice the advances that Sayaka or any other girl do to him (remember the final stage of V where he practically cockblocked himself with his "i love earth" speech) Bampresto also like to switch between his Great Mazinger and OVA incarnations, in V it was a little weird because the Kouji from Shin Mazinger Z was piloting the ZERO even when both are totally different

Im expecting that they update him in the next Super robot taisen with his new movie incarnation

They tend to do that a lot, really.

They had the original Getter pilots in Shin Getter Robo circa Armageddon in SRW W because Getter was mostly there to buttress Mazinkaiser minus its own plot and original Getter G would have been owned so hard by the Mazinkaiser.

They've also done a lot of cut and paste with guys like Amuro Rei, who would crib notes from the novels or anime or a mix of both depending on how they wanted to use him for the story plot.

Given each SRW games is an officially sanctioned 'what if?" fanfic in playable form, I've come to roll with it, but yeah, Kouji tends to ping pong between his various canon incarnations quite a bit.

Given Alpha Gaiden was around the time the classic Mazinger series were still being heavily mined, it wasn't that bad, but later on it really got noticeable when Mazinkaiser got heavy use.

SRW K's version of him was just confusing on multiple levels for this reason, since they used classic Kouji, but according to the plot he should have been a decade older than in canon with all that implies.

Okay post before I do the next stage because it compresses some Gundam X plot, and I want to cover what it does in abbreviation to get it out of the way to save me time.

The next stage will cover the "Sea of Lorelai" arc of Gundam X, where the GX gets supplanted by an even more kickass Gundam of moonlight shooting doom, and we find out the other half of Jamil's backstory.

Prior to the Seventh Space War, Jamil was good friends with a woman named Lucille Lillant, who was his senior in the military, and while the show left it kinda hazy, she was a big sister/love interest figure that we do know Jamil was very close to, and like Jamil, she was a Newtype. In fact, she was far more powerful than him.

The story goes that she was the primary test pilot for the GX Gundam and the Flash System, where the main GX pilot would be the biocomputer AI for a series of drone bots called GX bits, and in tandem with the GX they could all fuck shit up, since they too had Satellite Systems.

Unfortunately, the test went to hell when Lucille's mind got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of GX Bits she had to control, it started to fry her nerves, and the GX bits went berserk. Jamil was there and managed to help stop the rampaging GX Bits, but Lucille was so fucked up by this she fell into a coma and never woke back up.

And now you know why Jamil cares so much for Newtypes, he had to watch one he loved deeply get fucked over by her power being used against her.

Later, the aftermath of the Seventh Space War fried any remaining delusions Jamil had about the virtue of Newtypes being used to fight wars for others.

The SRW AG version will condense the details a little, and the Innocent will fill in for the Earth based villains of the Gundam X source, but all the other relevant details will be covered.

P.S. - This was one of my favorite arcs of the show, because we got to see what Jamil was like in his prime, and HOLY SHIT, Jamil Neate could have made half the cast of the entire franchise his bitch at one point.

Stage 23: The Sea of Lorelai (Part 1)

We start this stage with Jamil explaining they need to reattach the Sattelite Cannon to GX and link up with the lunar transmitter, and to do it,they need to use the Flash System, aka a Newtype control device.

Amuro realizes it's a different type of Newtype enhancer from the Psycoframe in his Nu Gundam, and explains to the confused Banjou there are a variety of Newtype enhancement systems, as well as non-Newtype version for machines like Raideen and Combattler.

Garrod is all 0_0, and Jamil explains Tiffa hotwired the GX for his use with her Newtype powers. We also find out we're heading to what is called Zondar Epta, supposedly an Innocent relay station, and to himself, Jamil figures they need a Satellite Cannon to match another one.

We cut to the Iron Gear, where Judau is bitching about having to do gopher work, and Astoniage tells him to can it, they got shit to do. The Sand Rats and the big guys of the Voltes/Combattler/Getter/Mazinger casts are tasked by Marbet to do the heavy lifting, and as if to show it's no problem, we get this funny as fuck scene where Fatman does some bodybuilder posing:

Stage23a.jpg

Kid thinks it's pretty awesome to see the muscleheads among them all in a row, and as if enjoying the compliment, Fatman continues to show up just how obscenely jacked he is:

Stage23b.jpg

Gotta be honest, I'd be really entertained just watching Fatman Big crack walnuts between his biceps, he looks like he could pull that off.

Of course, Fatman just keeps posing so much eventually it just gets weird:

Stage23c.jpg

Did I mention how much I love Xabungle's zany humor?

The others help with the small stuff, and we get a small voice actor joke, as Mio Sasuga and Tiffa Addil have the same seiyuu.

We cut to Diana!Kihel and Ryouma, and upon hearing the detour, she figures it might be good, they can get word to Arthur Rank of the Innocent if they can use their comms network.

We then cut to Roybea's little lounge area, where Steven Bowie has an interesting story for the ladies.

Basically, around this very beach (according to rumors he heard), a ghost emerges from the Sea of Lorelai.

Precia freaks, and Witz this it's a load of crap.

Loran and Sochie back Steven up on this, they heard the tale before too, and Roux explains the source of the tale comes from a German myth about the spirit of woman named Lorelai who haunts the Rhine river.

Tex chimes in with this verse by Heinrich Heine:

Stage23d.jpg

Stage23e.jpg

Stage23f.jpg

And that's when the lights go out:

As the lights click back on, Kid is all "Did we scare you", and Loran is having to peel Sochie off him in response, and Kid Jotaro and Kid Salsamille reveal they tripped the lights together for the lulz:

Stage23g.jpg

And as Witz is about to bitch at him, Tonya just makes this funnier:

Stage23h.jpg

Okay, I lied, it gets even funnier:

Stage23i.jpg

And it seems Tonya is a yaoi fangirl:

Stage23j.jpg

Roybea gripes he should be next to girl when this happens, and Witz gets razzed by Roux for being a scaredy-cat. Meanwhile, Steven and Tex are very amused.

We cut to the Argamma bridge later, where Saegusa informs Bright they are ready to move out. Bright tells everyone to be a level 3 battlestations, and that;s when Tetsuya asks Bright for a moment of his time.

He asks bright if their main concern will be the Innocent-Moon Race pissing contest, as it would make more sense to worry about the Dinosaur Empire, who plans to kill anything remotely human.

Bright points out the Dinosaur Empire crawled back under their rock, so the immediate problem is more dire, but Tetsuya argues as politely as possible to consider the Dinosaur Empire aims at nothing less than total human extinction, there is no idea how much more powerful several millennia has made them, and by not crushing them NOW, they could be ready to assrape humanity if they are ignored too long.

Bright plans to seriously consider that, yet still informs Tetsuya their current objective is still at the top of the bucket list, and like any good soldier, Tetsuya swallows his objections for now.

However, as we cut to another part of the ship, Tetsuya is planning to go independent as soon as they reach Gallia, they can't afford to fuck around on this issue in his opinion, as they really only scratched the surface of the underground empires in the Balmar War (he is right on this).

Jiron is nearby and asks Tetsuya if he's serious about this, then tries to appeal to Jiron's obsession with planting Timp in a shallow grave to win Jiron over, but Jiron's had some character development and says he's sympathetic, but doing this alone is retarded and he knows that, which gives Tetsuya pause.

We cut to the Iron Gear, where Gavan notes the ease of their naval passage, and Cotset says he wants to make the Iron Gear fly one day. Elche then admits she kinda in a funk, then brings up how Zondar Epta is an Innocent posting, and she'd really not like to murder any remaining chance of remaining on good terms with the Innocent, and Cotset points out it's pretty late for that.

Gavan then asks if the Innocent are that big a deal, and Elche confirms on Gallia, they hold everyone by the balls. Cotset, on the other hand, he's fed up with being their bitch.

We then cut all the way to Zondar Epta, where Director Biram is getting informed by a Breaker of the Irregulars en-route. His response:

Stage23k.jpg

I must say, even though the Innocent fill the place of the Gundam X villains here, Director Biram acts and even somewhat resembles Aizmat Kartrall, his Gundam X counterpart.

Biran then asks Dr. Mane, his chief scientist, about the "L-System".

Her response:

Stage23l.jpg

According to her, it's ready to link to the new model GX via the Flash System at any time, and she also name drops the Mobile Doll system, which was dug up and reverse engineered to make this project work more smoothly with the G-Bits.

Biram is pleased, this gives them a trump card to own the Moon Race with, and when Mane asks Biran about the "sample", he gives her free reign to do her thing with it, and she's ecstatic to use a Newtype for the Human Race Restoration Project.

And this makes a mystery person comment on how interesting that is.

These two:

Stage23m.jpg

Biram coolly notes he knows who they are and that they do work for the Moon Race, and when he wants to know their plans, he's surprised when they offer their assistance.

He's all "Bullshit." Shagia counters that he should know that the Moon Race is not one big happy family, and some want the Diana Counter faction to get it's shit pushed in, leading Biram to wonder if they are part of the Agrippa Maintainer faction or something else, then asks when the other shoe will drop, he's not stupid enough to think an alliance of convenience will come without strings attached.

Their price is simple. They want Tiffa from the Freeden, alive, as well as Garrod.

Biram's price is to show him they'll honor their temporary allegiance and fight on the front lines with his forces.

Shagia's reply:

Stage23n.jpg

Before we continue, I should point out Shagia holding a knight chess piece makes sense for two reasons. Knights move on the board mostly straight, but then veer off in a different direction at the end, which works well with the Frost Brothers appearing loyal to their faction then doing their own thing at the last minute. It also sums up his method of attack too, in that it's mostly straightforward, but just like his backstabbing nature, he's fond of last second cheap shots.

We then cut to the Freeden, where Kid finally fixed the Satellite Cannon, and Tiffa shows up to inform Jamil some bad shit will go down in the next battle.

We then jump cut to the Argamma, where they spot enemy forces straight ahead, and to their surprise, Jamil and the Freeden charge ahead of everyone else.

We then cut to Freeden hangar, where Garrod and Witz are razzing each other as they head to their Gundams, but Tiffa stops Garrod in his tracks with this cryptic comment:

Stage23o.jpg

I'll cover the rest next post, this is kinda long.

Stage 23: The Sea of Lorelai, Part 2

We resume from last time on the battle map, closing in on Zondar Epta, and shit is going down:

Stage23p.jpg

Worse, this model of GX has TWO Sattelite Cannons.

Once you get to choose who deploys, the GX is an auto-deploy, pick seven others.

This is a water map, pick your units with that in mind.

Once you do, the Frost Brothers notice, and while your team realizes they need time to fire at you with their GX on crack, Olba and Shagia decide to spring the trap they set up.

And thus they activate the L-System.

Puru shrieks as Jamil realizes exactly what they have done. Worse, much like the German myth, a woman's voice in singing in every Newtype's heads like a siren.

Even more disturbing, it's the voice of a trapped woman, screaming to escape her prison, and Jamil explains what the L-System is.

It's basically a Newtype driven ECM device that dicks over all sorts of electronics, and it's powered by the agonized soul of a Newtype.

But that's when Tiffa says this:

Stage23q.jpg

BTW, pay close attention to her face portrait, she's....not exactly Tiffa at the moment.

Stage23r.jpg

Then this happens:

Stage23s.jpg

This is when Tex remembers the rest of Heine's poetry:

A song with a peculiar, powerful melody.

And Jamil now realizes a voice from his past is speaking through Tiffa's mouth.

Stage23t.jpg

It's here the plot diverges a little bit from Gundam X canon. In the source, she apparently died before the show started before the Seventh Space War. SRW moves it up to around that time to account for who Jamil fought for in this game, more on that later.

Anyway, Lucille Lillant, with Tiffa's consent, is using Tiffa to speak with her mind, especially since her consciousness isn't all that attached to her original body anymore.

In fact, what remains of Lucille Lillant is now the core of the L-System.

Jamil is horrified, and Lucille begs Jamil to destroy the L-System so her spirit can finally rest. This means she dies completely, and while he's understandably reluctant, she doesn't want to be slave for the purpose of waging war in this world.

And that's when Garrod, having overheard this, realizes this time, this battle is not his to fight, parks the GX next to the Freeden, and tells him to honor Lucille's last wish.

Jamil does exactly that, and as Jamil tells everyone to burn this shithole to the ground, Biram realizes shit has gone WRONG:

Stage23u.jpg

She has no clue, and the Frost Brothers facepalm and realize they gotta do this the old fashioned way.

Cue a lot of Tauruses, some Serpents, and some Xamels as guardians for the new GX. Heero isn't the least surprised to see the Mobile Dolls again, and Jamil tells Garrod while he charges the base, he needs to gank the new GX to keep the Innocent from using it.

Tiffa has also grown a massive spine herself concerning stopping the Innocent per Lucille's wishes.

Stage23v.jpg

You find out you have 5 minutes left until the new GX can fire it's cannon, meaning you have five turns, or you lose.

GUNDAM X SECRET PART #3 - Don't move Jamil next to the new GX until AFTER turn 4.

Also, for Skill Point reasons, don't try to kill every enemy, leave a few for after taking the new GX.

BTW, Jamil gets some unique shit talk if he fights either Frost Brother.

This why you should wait till after turn 4.

Stage23w.jpg

She tells Jamil to use the Flash System, and when he tells his Newtype power is fried, she acts as the jumper cables for his brain.

And then this shit happens:

Stage23x.jpg

That's right, we got ourselves a GX Bit ARMY. And EACH ONE has their own Satellite Cannon.

FYI, this was one of the coolest scenes in the original show, Jamil made an entire army of assholes his bitches with these badass sentry bits.

They all gather around Jamil, unlocking the retarded powerful GX Bits attack, which is that secret from Gundam X I said was kickass, but you only get to keep it for this one stage for now.

If you do one last step about ten or so stages after this, YOU GET TO KEEP THEM PERMANENTLY.

Unlike the Satellite Cannon, these things have no turn recharge limit, very long range, a very reasonable energy cost, and do a shitload of damage, about 2/3's the damage of a full Satellite Cannon blast with no upgrades.

Fully upgraded, it's basically a daytime Satellite Cannon with no turn limit.

Once you park Jamil next to the Double X (it's got two cannons, hence the name), and again, they changed the story up a little, as it was made post-backstory in the show, while it existed in the backstory in this game, again so certain later details of this crossover make sense.

Jamil tosses Garrod the G-Controller, he's got somewhere to go on foot, to sever the chains that bind Lucille to this world, and that's when the instrument version of the second Gundam OP, appropriately titled "Resolution" fires up.

Cue the butthurt:

Stage23y.jpg

Shagia is all "we got what we need anyway, let's haul ass, Biram is probably running like a bitch as we speak too".

Jamil than announces he's gonna level Zondar Epta with the Double X (after Jamil clears out of course), so you need to buy Garrod time.

Skill Point Time: Kill all remaining foes in three turns after the DX activates.

Biram is running like a bitch of course, and the good guys are happy to help Garrod destroy this hellhole, to which Biran deploys some more Tauruses and Xamels to buy his escape some running room.

Thankfully, some friendlies arrive:

Stage23z.jpg

We find out the Macross/Plus guys flew around the world for quite awhile trying to find everyone, and they picked up a friend.

Stage23aa.jpg

Meet Para/Paula Cis, who in Gundam X was part of a resistance faction opposing the lunatic assholes on the space side of things, but that was obviously changed for this game (the Innocent are the assholes in question), and she pilots the G-Falcon, an addon suit for the Gundam X Gundam, much like the G-Defenser straps onto the Gundam MK-II.

Anyway, with the Skull Squadron and Project Supernova Valkyries, this should be pretty easy to finish the stage with.

Also, a bug in the game shows up again, but it works in your favor.

Stage23ab.jpg

Due to a rounding error, this one attack has four times the ammo it should and it's like this permanently.

Do note the Double X does not carry over the GX upgrades, it's considered a separate unit like in the show.

Again, killing the Frost Brothers nets your team some cool swag.

After three turns, as the stage ends........"TWIN SATTELITE CANNON.........HASHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!"

Stage23ac.jpg

We then cut to where Jamil is saying goodbye to the woman he always loved, and despite his fears the past will haunt him, she has these words of encouragement instead:

Stage23ad.jpg

Stage23ae.jpg

With that, she uses Tiffa one last time to make sure Jamil walks away with no regrets about being able to save her:

Stage23af.jpg

The other Newtypes and Sarah watch from a distance, very, very quiet, and after explaining how she wound up as she was recently found, he asks to be left alone for awhile.

Meanwhile Diana!Kihel reveals what side Jamil really fought for, as Jamil fought alongside Lucille, who fought for the Moon Race, as part of the Ghingham Army.

In the show, he fought for the Earth side, but for reasons of crossover logic, this was changed to make more sense.

At any rate, since Diana!Kihel was the one who made it possible, she feels even more shame for her past, knowing Jamil would never forgive her if he knew the truth about her role in Lucille's life and eventual death.

We then cut to the Iron Gear, where Elche is weeping over the sadness:

Stage23ag.jpg

Well, actually, she's still holding onto the faint delusion they can possibly not make utter enemies of the Innocent, but Rag is fed up with this and tells her to her face "WE ARE ON THEIR PERMANENT SHIT LIST YOU IDIOT".

We then cut to the Argamma, where Fokker is still all "first we got warped to Pluto during the Balmar War, now we time traveled......". Everyone else on the Skull Squadron has similar sentiments, then Fokker invites Isamu to hop over to the Freeden, shoot some pool and get utterly wasted.

Bright belays that to ask about Paula, and they explain they saved her from a Vulture ambush. Burning then pops in, saying the team that examined Zondar Epta's remaining lower levels found a sweet prize.

The V2 Gundam. Without it's Assault or Buster Pack, but it's still better than the first model.

We then cut to where Paula is saying hi to the team.

Stage23ah.jpg

She explains that she was part of nigh wiped out group telling the Innocent where to shove it, and Kid realizes her unit can acts as an expansion pack for the Leopard, Airmaster, and Double X.

We also get the GX fully able to swap it's Satellite Cannon and Divider modules at will, and Jamil will be the default GX pilot from now on.

In the show, since they lost the GX original G-Controller around the time they got the Double X, Kid had to hotwire it to work without one, a detail the game glosses over.

Also, Bazaar is unavailable after this stage,
