That's the plot to like almost all the Sonic games, so it's not like KH started that whole trend.

First game on the PS2 is fine. It's a competent action/adventure game with RPG elements (barebones RPG mind you). Any new person can walk away satisfied after finishing it. It's the fact that Square Enix had to bust their nut all over it that made it so fucking convoluted. Now you have time traveling, alternate versions of the same character, and good villans (Malificent) taking a back seat to Xehanort # 238476862386823476.

With how long the sequels took to develop and how much the plot shifted, I just view the first KH game as a stand alone title more than anything else. Once we got to about 4 spinoffs I stopped really caring.

As for Sora in Smash, neat? Sure, he's probably the most requested character by weight of his fandoms autism, but he's also added to the salt heap of "ANIME SWORD BOY REEEEEEE". Hopefully now Sakurai can step away from this hell for at least a few years - the Smash community is both figuratively and literally fucking children, and besides, if the guy wasn't as autistically focused on developing Smash, he'd probably have a thread here...

Malificent was the red herring big bad of Kh1 with Ansem (later revealed to be a dude named xehanort stealing ansem's name for shits and giggles in kh2) being the actual villain. A man who abandoned his physical form to enact a plan to cause worlds to literally die from corrupted soul creatures he was studying/making and build a fucked up composite void world he's more or less the god of with the scraps of said worlds. Kinda similar to tabuu's plot in Brawl but before it but with a lot more shirtless final fantasy looking scientist guy and a lot less dr. manhattan with butttterfly wings.

Somewhere after KH2 they just went full on bullshit retcon city and eventually undid the impactful stuff in the first few games by just going "oh actually it was all a ruse and part of a plot so that xehanort could have 13 copies of himself so he could summon the kingdom hearts moon and go inside but not all of them are him because reasons" which is a lot more lame than "man willingly abandons physical form and tries to become god of darkness world"

Back on topic though, I really need to state again how much I appreciate them recreating the Ps2 animations in HD with a model that actually looks like the concept art for the original games. Sora got the Banjo treatment and I couldn't be happier about that.

It's still so funny to me that this became such an infamous thing that for years Disney tried sweeping it's existence under the rug. The actor wasn't allowed to hold the keyblde the right way and they gave them a fucking weird mask against all logic and reason instead of just hiring someone and putting them in a wig.

Honestly, Sora as the final fighter is a fitting choice, even though I don't give a fuck about KH. Smash is supposed to be a crazy crossover game, so who else to bring in but the main character from ANOTHER crazy crossover franchise? Also, y'all don't realize how hard this probably was for Nintendo and co to see through. Disney are notoriously ass-blasted about their IP (on the same level, if not arguably more so, than Nintendo, ironically enough). So on the whole, happy for KH fans, and a fitting final fighter for the game, but meh for me personally.

Seriously, some of you niggers need to lol calm down. It's a fucking video game, chill.

The explanation that this was in the works since the Wii U smash bros but didn't get fully okayed and done till this new DLC is something that gets me thinking about some stuff like how WOL, a blatant (but watered down) sequel to Brawl's story mode, has the whole theme of "LIGHT AND DARKNESS" going on. Maybe they wanted to get sora out earlier but couldn't due to Disney being a fucking bitch about the mickey keychain?

Then I realized that Mario Land 3 came out a year after I was born. Wario has had games for my entire life..Luigi got his own set of games. Even that Faggot Toad has a spinoff, Peach got a game. Why the fuck shouldn't Waluigi get some love.

Because Waluigi was created literally only because Wario didn't have a partner for doubles in Mario Tennis:
During the development of Mario Tennis, the game had many classic Mario characters, but few were humans, and Wario did not have a partner for doubles. Then, designer Fumihide Aoki came up with the idea to make a rival for Luigi. Shigeru Miyamoto was consulted in order to help with the design. Between the development cast, names like "Jeroji", "Jinani", and "Waigi" popped up, until it was decided that the name would be "Waruiji", portmanteau of the words "Warui" and "Ruiji". It was also decided that the character would be the extreme to Luigi's height and lean body, just as Wario was the extreme to Mario's round and short body. According to Shugo Takahashi, Yoichi Kotabe put on the finishing touches for Waluigi's final design.

An official game. Psycho Waluigi is a great freeware game and Waluigi's Taco Stand is a meme for a reason.
