Between this and Marvel turning Captain America into a bisexual man with tattoos and tomboy-ish style haircuts, I’m still trying to figure out how Spider-Man: Far Away From Home managed to make a billion dollars in the box office.

Spider-Man is still a straight, cis white male with actual character, story and a personality beyond bullshit labels who appeals to the broader audience companies keep incorrectly conflating with the small, stringy, and painfully vocal woke crowd. And as Doc mentioned, nobody reads comics.

Because none of that shit is in the Marvel movies. Closest you have is Captain Marvel being a drip, but even in the comics she's much more unlikeable.

Modern superhero comics are 99% divorced from anything popular and are now almost entirely aimed at the mythical woke market of people on Twitter who said they'd totally be into buying comics if only they weren't [insert all the isms]. Of course, these people only complain and don't then buy the comics no matter what, but that doesn't seem to matter.
The movies have their issues, but the comics are lunacy. Thankfully, though something like the MCU is steeped in comics lore, they stay away from anything from the last 20 years.

Tl;dr: the movies know their audience. The comics hate theirs.

Spider-Man got raped too

Wait which scene
Lawrence feels honor bound to proceed with a hopelessly suicidal plan to scout out a heavily defended Turkish town, where he gets captured by the Turks and BDSM'ed by the Turkish commander and his goons. The experience humbles him and somewhat shatters his belief in his own aura of invincibility.

Why? Because it's someone's fetish, that's why. No other reason.

And, on (npi) top of it, that someone's a moron who can't write. Just send him to some Kripton like planet where he gets punished and humiliated for helping humans or whatever. That's a somehow interesting story rather than some Pole raping Superman.

I mentioned this on another thread but back in the day I wrote a DBZ fanfiction and it was as bad as you'd expect from something written by a horny 13 year old, this shit makes it not only look good but it makes me think that maybe I could have become a "pro comic book writer" although I would have most likely gotten fired for not being degenerate enough.

Wasn't he also actually in the closet too, or was that just the actor? I don't remember.

It is a terrible idea to allow your writers to make their “dark rapefic” canon.

Look at the viewing figures and merch sales for True Blood after Alan Ball introduced the “Jason is a rape slave” plot line in season 4, pissed off his entire fan base, and then doubled down on it by defending it as “funny”.

Some things just do not come to canon unless there’s a really compelling reason and it’s handled very carefully. Main-character-gets-raped is the strongest example. It is waaaaay too easy for that to come off as a fapfic that escaped AO3.
