Superman’s Motto Gets a Modern Update: ‘Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow' - Because screw "the American way", I guess

Superman has long been a symbol of hope who inspires people

Exactly why I always hated the big blue boy scout anyways. Hope, inspiration and all that jazz he stands for? Nothing but hollow platitudes and meaningless ideas meant to give the masses comfort from the harsh unchangeable reality or brief and miserable lives really are.

Edit: Also that photo in the op...my god Jim you've gotten OLD!

Post-Crisis Superman was born in the United States. He was conceived on Krypton, but his gestation pod was fitted with a hyperdrive and sent to Kansas, so he is a jus soli US citizen.

I assume that's been retconned to make him Krypton-born again. But since his origins were unknown until he was an adult, that makes him a foundling, and he is a US citizen at birth under INA 301 (8 USC 1401).

Superman has (or at least had) a great supporting cast and a rich, well-developed world. That's why they could kill him off and keep going without missing a beat--all the other characters were so interesting, DC could (and did) tell stories about them for months before Superman came back.

He would never hurl a child-rapist (or even a child rapist) into the sun because he believes all life has value, coming as he does from a dead world. Not unlike Batman, who would never kill his broken, pitiful enemies because if there's no hope for them, there's no hope for him, either. And both operate outside the law but with its tacit approval, which requires some self-imposed limits.

Not every life matters.
This hollow platitude that every life is precious is how we got to this point in the real world to begin with.

At this point i'd be smarter to do another dumb reboot and have the entire DC universe take place in China. "Truth, justice, and the Chinese Way" sounds a lot better overall. The problem obviously is that the concept of a chink helping someone out is more unbelievable than any super power the writers could ever come up with.

Also IIRC Superman is always a natural born citizen because the Kents lie and say they were keeping his birth under wraps, beyond that i could see a convoluted way where they could convince the smallville bureaucracy that the child was left on their doorstep, with a forged note about the parents being deported, and then just have the kid take a citizenship test in school regardless. But its really not needed the birth certificate and other records would make him a Kent, and therefore an american citizen, irregardless of true parentage. Even if people found out superman's identity and forced the issue, there's enough legal precedent regarding bastards and orphans and adoption that Superman would be considered the Kent's child, and an american citizen. in any court of law.

And Another Thing....pretty weird no one brings up an explanation for Superman's immunization records, if there was anyone smart enough at DC that would be a good arc. Superman being forced to be an anti-vaxxer because he literally can't take the vaccine. If a needle could pierce his skin, then a lot of other things could too.

Its like that Offspring member, its not his decision its science that said he shouldn't get the jab. Of course this doesn't get into the odd fact no one at DC wants to bring up. About how a kid raised by rural Kansas older white people who adopt would very clearly have conservative views, as would the upper class man who's first experience with the ethnic poor is when they murdered his parents in cold blood*

Or just vigilantism in general always having a huge conservative bias, and the media reporting painting anyone that does it with a far-right brush irregardless of that.

*that was one of the funnier observations of BvS, Holly Hunter being the Democratic senator of Kansas, a place that hasn't elected a Dem senator since Superman was published; and its entire history basically revolves around it being a Republican stronghold where people were willing to kill or be killed to make sure a democrat never held either senatorial seat.

Superman doing all He can for a better tomorrow.
What gets me about that drawing is the "There is no planet B" sign. In the multiple DC universes, there are lots of planets humans can live on.

>Make Earth cool again
Why doesn't Superman use his breath to freeze the water?

>There's no Planet B
Why don't they colonize and terraform Mars?

That motto sounds better for other superheroes, for example Batman, who fight to make shitholes better places. Between this, separating Superman and Lois (was some year(s) ago), having Bruce Wayne have a gun room (no not in the batcave) that Jason Todd finds and is why he likes guns, having a comic where Bruce Wayne is the bad guy, releasing a statement they want to make him gay, making Superman and Batman dads evil ect. Fuck off DC

Well, what is the contemporary ‘American way’?
Abolition of meritocracy and it’s replacement with racial quotas?
Destruction of the family unit?
Allowing our history to be rewritten by hostile infiltrators?
Endless foreign wars at the behest of tiny, parasitic nations?
The wholesale co-opting of senior roles in every influential industry by loxist invaders?
The ever increasing propaganda fomenting hate against the children of those that built the nation?
A widening chasm between the incomes of the average person and that of the wealthy?
A government that is increasingly powerless to control a technology and media sector acting solely in the interests of the ultra-rich globalists?
Poison on our crops and corn syrup in our food, making us the least healthy nation on earth?
Freedom of speech being a right in name only?
The utter abandonment of border security and the granting of the rights of citizenship to illegal aliens and hostile, rootless, globalist cosmopolitans?
Having most of our foreign aid budget siphoned off to help a tiny, theofascist ethnocracy who in return denies us the right to self-determination?

I think the Superman of the 40’s and 50’s would be utterly horrified by the perversion of America’s destiny into the shattered, bickering, communist-infested hellhole it is today.
