The Lapu Lapu festival was taking place in the area of E 43rd Avenue and Fraser Street.

About 30 police cars, fire trucks, ambulances have gone by on West 41st heading east in the last 10 minutes. Anyone know what’s going on? Seems big. They’re continuing to pass every 2 minutes or so.

My brother witnessed the scene unfold. He hasn't returned home yet, but called saying he phoned the police after witnessing people get run over, he said he saw people flying over top the car. I hope he is okay

Suspect in Vancouver vehicle attack that killed 11 was on 'extended leave' from mental health care

The man accused of killing 11 people when he allegedly plowed his vehicle into a crowded Vancouver, British Columbia, festival had been receiving mental health treatment, but was on an "extended leave" at the time of the attack.

The suspected driver, Kai-Ji Adam Lo, was under the care of a mental health team, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) said in a statement on Tuesday. He was on an extended leave under the Mental Health Act.

When a person is on extended leave, they are "supported by a community mental health team that monitors their mental health and well-being and provides treatment and support as necessary," VCH said.

An extended leave is intended to help people maintain their treatment plan while transitioning back into the community.

"If the person is not able or refuses to follow the care or treatment plan in place, the mental health team has the ability to recall the person back to (the) hospital," the statement read.

Authorities had hinted at Lo's mental health issues during a Sunday news conference when asked about a possible motive. Vancouver interim police chief Steve Rai told reporters that the suspect has "a significant history of interactions with police and health care professionals related to mental health."

Mayor Ken Sim had said that officials believe "that mental health appears to be the underlying issue here."

VCH said in its statement that there was no indication that Lo was not following his treatment plan or presented a public safety risk.

The crash happened Saturday night at the Lapu Lapu Day block party in East Vancouver, an annual event celebrating Filipino culture. Eleven people, aged 5 to 65, were killed and more than two dozen were injured, police said.

Toan Le told NBC News that his brother, Richard Le, 47; his sister-in-law, Linh Hoang, 30; and his niece, Katie Le, 5, were killed.

One witness described hearing an engine revving moments before the attack.

"All I can remember is seeing bodies flying up in the air higher than the food trucks themselves and landing on the ground and people yelling and screaming," clothing vendor Kris Pangilinan told The Associated Press.

Lo was subdued at the scene by festivalgoers until police arrived and took him into custody. He's been charged with eight counts of second-degree murder, and police say further charges are anticipated.

No offense, but fuck this 51st state talk. Personally, I think we're much better off without Canadians. This shit exemplifies why.

How do you assimilate these kinds of people into America? I think the answer is simply that you don't. This type of thinking is akin to cancer for open governance. We don't need any snowmonkeys shitting up the works. We have enough politicians "influenced" by the "European model" vying for American enshitification to worry about.
We could genocide the Canadians and take their land. Their land is pretty valuable.

Of course, the rest of the world would get pretty pissy about it, but who cares?

The crash happened
This phrasing is so obnoxious. It wasn't a passive happening, but a deliberate attack on other human beings. Besides, there were obviously multiple crashes, considering a decent multitude of people were crashed into. Journos are faggot scum, as usual.

I mean... we could give it to blacks as reparations on the condition they do something about the current owners, and then just carpet bomb the place afterwards. Nothing of value would be lost, except perhaps the jet fuel, bombs, and man-hours involved in doing so.

In other words its confirmed the attacker isn't a white guy, which isn't the least bit surprising considering the odds massively favor an asian or indian
Thoughts and prayers to the injured and the dead. This was brown-on-brown violence so the victims actually have a chance at seeing justice in the West.
Canadian media is shockingly uncurious in general.

Adam Lo has a very limited digital footprint.
I know this is 3 weeks late but I kept hearing about this case because many people at my last job are Filipinos. This was a case of Yellow-on-brown violence and Alexander Lo's killer being a red-skin made me realize why there's a shocking lack of photos and discussion about Dwight's identity (red skin-on-yellow violence).

Look up Vince Li and Matthew de Groode, also of Chinese descent (well, Matthew's half-Dutch but whatever). Both successfully used mental health as an excuse for their crimes. The former changed his name and walks free while the latter was deemed not criminally responsible. I wondered why they kept bringing up the Yellow perpetrator's mental issues until I realized that Adam Lo will definitely try using it to weasel his way out of accountability.

I will just say that East Asians never liked the browner-skinned Asians so him choosing a Pinoy festival doesn't shock me. If the killer of his fag brother was a feather Indian, I'm shocked he never tried attacking an Indian reserve but that might cause even more backlash on the oppression totem pole.

I also think it's interesting that the Asian-Canadian community gave Canada it's top two worst car-ramming murders. The 2018 Toronto car ramming was done by a Pajeet (I wanna say he was Paki, Persian or Bangladeshi) or "South Asian" for more geography buffs. And now this incident is being called the second worst car-ramming incident in Canada's history. Perhaps there's a lot of untreated mental illness within the Asian diaspora that isn't being discussed because we know how Chinks, Jeets, etc, feel about that.
