As much as how nice some swords are, they really do serve as nothing more than just a decorative piece. The whole appeal in swinging a sword would have to tie in with watching romanticized and/or ignorant fiction that paints the sword as some ultimate weapon. As some mentioned earlier in the thread, they aren't the best when considering things like reach. Beyond that though, sword spergs wouldn't have that awareness when they think a million folded katana or fantasy shaped flea market sword makes them think the "coolness" of their sword would be testament to its usefulness.

Exactly. If I had to pick a weapon to fight, 99/100 times it would be a gun.

With how they look in gripping the swords, one could say, as others would or have already said with the size of those swords, that these guys would be compensating for the size of their penis and perhaps their masculinity.

That would just be armchair psychology, though, and we wouldn't be sure.

We don't have to guess, though, because of the ponies on them.

I remember visiting a shop that sold replica swords with my sister years ago and there were guys that looked a lot like the ones in the OP hanging around in there like they were so cool, bragging about their "prowess." Which I can only assume meant flailing it around like a spaz and not cutting themselves in the process.

It's probably best to keep the intricate discussion about the merits of the different weapons in the Off-topic thread and focus on posting spergs with weapons ;)

Nah, I think your and Husbando's posts were both interesting and informative, certainly fit the topic matter, just hoping that the thread won't delve too deep into the practical merits of swords vs. other weapons.

As per the topic I think @Super Collie 's assessment that they aren't often seen in media, and The Knife's Husbando's answer that they're rather sizeable both contribute, but swords have also been seen as status symbols, and they still hold a lot of symbolical value in modern militaries.

Apologies if my post felt off-topic. With how sword spergs are, has there been a video of a sword being trumped by any other weapon? I ask because I wonder if they threw out enough salt thanks to the katana or long sword being shown as a mundane weapon and not some end all, be all melee weapon.
