We had a guy kicked out of my LGS for dressing up as a Nazi with his Krieg army (also Nazis). This guy wore an SS uniform and a red armband. That was insane to see my first time trying to play

Had a guy at a tournament I helped organize show up with Neonazi iconography on his guard banners and tanks. I.e Black suns, Kaiserreich flags, and legally distinct double lightning bolts and Death's heads. In Germany. He didn't get to play the game that day.

I don't even care if a player is a tranny leftist atheist or a neonazi trad-cath larper, I only care if their presence increases or decreases the quality of the game. Perhaps my greatest sin of all is that I don't even believe in charging people to game, I dm for free.

No one is ever reciting actual RPG horror stories like that because it never happens.

Cameras have been readily available on common phones for damn near 20 years at this point. Yet even with the one instance a few years ago of that retarded 40k tournament in spain which was confirmed to have a bunch of problems besides the one retard who showed up as "austrian painter" even somehow no one managed to take photos of that. 99% of that RPG horror story bullshit is weirdos writing their fanfic about owning the nazi chuds, submitting their entry for the sympathy olympics, or are just generally fucking retarded. But with the wargaming shit there's never a photo on the neckbeard with his SS shirt, there's never someone snapping a photo of the supposed krieg(who are ww1 and mostly French) armies that are covered in swastikas, cadian flags replaced with black suns, etc. in an actual game store and isn't just someone posting some bullshit from their basement.

And the RPG horror stories, the easiest way to avoid that bullshit is to never play at a table that needs to use "safety tools". Lines and veils? That exists because someone at your table is a fucking degenerate and tried to air bud clause the group over some degenerate shit in the past. X cards and others? You know you've got degenerate retards at the table who will disrupt the game with their bullshit. Just remove the retards, problem solved. Most of the shit especially on r/rpghorrorstories even as a badly done creative writing exercise can be resolved by just removing the retard from the group after the 2nd time you've had to tell them to knock off the bullshit.

I will say my experience running one-shots at game events has somewhat softened my stance on 'safety tools', except as you point out for short games with randos there shouldn't be anything going on that needs to be line/veil/X-card 'ed unless there is a full on degen coomer. And I guess since i'm DM the solution is "That's creepy, don't do that at my table" followed by "Leave." for further attempts at being an edge lord.

Regardless, none of that shit belongs at any game where you will be playing for any appreciable period of time.

Hell, if we're just talking about one shots or other short adventures that take a couple of sessions, if there's some weirdo degen fucking things up at the table in the first session, and they aren't gone by the second? Most of the "community" on the internet is a bunch of faggots and trannies who rarely if ever actually play because most of them are too damned afraid to go outside an attempt to socialize, or stick to online VTTs because they can hide behind an avatar and be weird without immediately creeping everyone out just based on appearance.

Half of the stories these days usually seem to involve someone at the table(including the DM sometimes) having characters go on rape sprees, stories of morons having their character sexually assault the character of the only woman at the table, the occasional DM that for some reason wants to include a breeding dungeon, people throwing fits about DMs not including enough gay or trans characters, evil trump supporters showing up to the game store and menacingly wearing their MAGA hat(I've heard this as an RPG horror story and a 40k horror story), or just somehow putting up with someone who wants to be a contrarian about everything including the setting, reason for the adventure, other peoples characters, etc. to the point of laughably being the most insufferable idiot possible that no grown adults would ever actually put up with.

I've seen a lot of retards shit up games by thinking the only things that matter is sex and murder. They often ragequit when they get a punishment that isn't just "Your character dies." or a female character reveals they don't want to fuck them.

One guy quit a discord game because he claimed the game had gotten "too clique-ish" because his character had frequently threatened to murder his PC gf because he was obsessed with always trying to appear the most powerful person in every situation. His character's reputation got ruined in town because other PCs were spreading the info about his behavior. He didn't understand the staff team telling him "It doesn't matter what your stats are when you're killing the vibe of the game ruining everyone else's fun."
