Tabletop Community Watch

Snipe and Wib put out some new merch and it's really embarrassing.
First of all, Bongs don't have that boomer fishing culture thing that the Burgers do, and he knows that this joke is going to fall flatter than he will when someone knocks him out for looking like an absolute nonce

It just looks like he's advertising the fact he has premature ejaculation

"Sorry I made this," he didn't need to say it. I've seen less panic on the face of someone being forced to make a hostage video

what premature ejaculation does to an mf.jpg

There’s been several big developments in the autistic world of tabletop gaming. The first that flew under many’s radar was a psychologist talking about how her fellow leftists in RPGs lie about rape claims for clout and to undermine other projects.

In other news Catalyst Games has doubled down on canceling the chuds. The culture war has been firing off a lot in the Battletech Community. A lot of the drama can be traced to gay ops on discord, which is par for the course. Below are a couple videos on the culture wars, I’ll make a post when I collect more relevant info on the discord drama.

Cow crossover with Jon Arroz and Rageholic.

(I can’t back up the videos right now, I can later though).

Tencent may buy some rights or all of d&d. I heard some people were saying it was to buy a virtual tabletop or the whole video game rights. Others are saying it’s the whole enchilada. This is enormous and is a far greater story than the other ‘tism slap fights going on right now.

Hasbro may be looking to offload the Dungeons & Dragons (DND, D&D) IP onto a wealthy buyer, in this case it sounds like it may be Tencent.

So what I'm getting from that article is that the RPG industry has become an incestuous crab bucket full of clout-chasing sociopaths, mean girls and troons whose mental development arrested in middle school, and fragile adult children who literally can't handle people disagreeing with them, and they're all perfectly aware of this and don't care as long as it isn't their asses on the line. Fuck them all and I hope this shit blows up in their faces sooner rather than later.

Which I already suspected but it’s great that someone from the left catalogued it as well. @Haramburger mentioned in another thread the author could’ve saved a lot of time if they just went to the respective farm threads. I also like how Astro put it.
First case of Kiwi Farms being peer reviewed? Or am I stretching the term too much?

Hasbro have already released a statement denying this:

For once I believe them because TenCent has no inclination to run a TTRPG company. Now, may Hasbro sell or at least license DnD on a long term basis? I'd bet money on it. They're currently cash poor due to lugging around the corpse of Hasbro and their "revoke license > ???? > Become monopolist" plan blew up in their face.
To me what would make the most sense is Tencent buying exclusive video game rights for a set period of time.

I know Snipe (like a lot of fat girls in male-dominated hobbies) is a she/they, but I am increasingly convinced with every video they put out that Wib is going to eventually troon out too. Like, maybe not a full trooning, but if you notice him wearing nail polish in a future video or navel-gazing on Twitter about how "I'm just not feeling particularly comfortable being referred to as 'he' right now, guys," I want you to know that I fucking called it.

I thought, at first, that these fingers were Snipe's, given the nail polish. But no, wait... They're too thin... They're not 'sausagey' enough... My God...

To think I liked those two before I knew about their politics... and considering the way people in their circles think, painted nails are almost certainly the first step towards a shiny new set of pronouns. *sigh* I miss the days when a man choosing to wear nail polish or experiment with makeup usually just meant he was a bit of a goth.

I've been avoiding their videos like the plague lately, but have Snipe and Wib been getting more overtly political? Because that's the vibe I'm getting and it's going to inevitably drive away a lot more of their audience.

I have always found Snipe and Wib faintly irritating, even before they became increasingly vocal with their smug political takes.

The thing that did it for me was their mailbag unboxings, where the presumably most friendless people in the world would send them out of print wargaming sourcebooks and old, long discontinued miniatures, sometimes worth hundreds of pounds, to the seeming complete ambivalence of the pair. I can't tell you how many times some poor parasocial schmuck would send in, say, an old out of print metal dreadnought that I know for a fact goes for big money online, only for Snipe to go, "Ooh, him a chonky boi!!" and it to be promptly set down and ignored, because they have to unwrap the next valuable old Rogue Trader miniature sent in by the next sad bastard seemingly unaware of the existence of eBay.

Also, take a drink every time Snipe either mentions something about either sex or food. You'll die of liver failure in about ten minutes. It's no wonder she's so fat.

‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Senior Game Designer Disavows How Series Was Made By “White Dudes”, Boasts That Much Of Original Material “Would Never Pass Our Inclusivity Reviews Today”

Archive

In delivering what is perhaps one of the most self-aggrandizing virtue signals in recent history, current Dungeons & Dragons Senior Game Designer Jason Tondro has taken to proudly touting the fact that much of the series’ original materials – which he condescendingly writes off thanks to having been made by “white dudes” – “would never pass our inclusivity reviews today”.

Tondro offered his take on the current state of the popular table-top RPG franchise while speaking with official D&D content creator Todd Kenreck in promotion of Wizards of the Coast’s upcoming series-centric history book, Dungeons & Dragons – the Making of Original D&D: 1970-1977.

Following a lengthy summary of the book’s contents, as well as his own history with the franchise, Tondro was eventually met by the observation from Kenreck that “It’s important [to note] that this is a historical document, so there are things in there – it was a different time, so we’ve had an inclusivity review of all these materials”, to which he enthusiastically replied, “Multiple. So let’s take a step back here. Let’s clarify. There are materials in original Dungeons and Dragons that would never pass our inclusivity reviews today.”

“Some of it you can understand,” the designer proceeded to argue. “Like, okay. These are a bunch of war gamers, and they’re using armies from history, so when they create a warrior class for D&D, they call it the Fighting Man [the original name for the Fighter class]! Because that’s what they were used to, they were all men, they were all white dudes from Lake Geneva and the Twin Cities.”

Yes, you read that right – Tondro just dismissed D&D creators Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson as nothing more than ignorant “white dudes”.

Following this insult, he continued, But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a lot of material in this book, and I won’t go over all of it, but it would not pass our inclusivity review today. We couldn’t change it, it’s history, what we can do is acknowledge it and show how far we’ve come because that’s not D&D anymore.”

Turning his virtue signal up to max brightness, Tondro further assured Kenreck, “D&D gets more diverse and has a larger audience everyday. The more diverse the game becomes, the more people of different genders and ethnic backgrounds and faiths see themselves in the game, then they go make their own versions of the game and more players start to see themselves represented in the game. The more diverse the creators get, the more diverse the players become, and that’s the way it should be.”

“So this book is very interesting, so I think it really highlights how far the audience is come and how the game has changed over the 50 years,” he concluded. “How it’s played, who plays it, and how it’s created, in many ways, the way that it’s created is the part that changed the least, because a huge driver in early D&D was fan creations, and that’s still true today.”

Hilariously, that last declaration by Tondro actually proves as a counter to everything he said above, as to his point D&D never barred anyone of any identity from being represented in the game specifically because its entire existence is based on the fact that the players create their characters and adventures as they see fit.

As with all other such declarations that ‘tabletop RPGs were never inclusive’, while some individual Dungeon Masters and story settings may implement some limits on character creation in order to help boost players’ immersion for a specific campaign, there has never been any official rule in D&D barring players from assigning whatever traits they want to their completely custom characters.

Further, it should be noted that it was not just Tondro’s interview with Kenreck which saw an official D&D source feign such pearl clutching towards the inclusion of the game’s original contents in The Making of Original D&D.

What follows is the book’s official description, wherein three sentences are dedicated to describing its actual contents while a full six are used to performatively and excessively assure readers that D&D parent company Wizards of the Coast in no way shape or forms endorses the ‘problematic’ subject matter contained within:

“Here is the ultimate record of how Dungeons & Dragons came to be. The Making of Original D&D is an extraordinary collection of rare documents that shed light on D&D’s origin story. Uncover materials never released to the public, including Gary Gygax’s first draft of original D&D, and early published writings such as the 1974 original D&D ‘White Box’ booklets and supplements. Each document is featured alongside insightful commentary from one of the game’s foremost historians, Jon Peterson.
Disclaimer: We (Wizards) recognize that some of the legacy content in this product does not reflect the values of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise today. Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudices that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end.”

Ah yes, the modern consoom mythos:
"The critically acclaimed and widely popularised Original Product(tm) that was enjoyed by many people was actually created by a bunch white dudebroguys for a small group of other white dudebroguys to enjoy. Luckily our benevolent Corporation(tm) have improoved the Product(tm) by making it Diverse and Modernized in the name of avaliability and breaking limitations even though there was literally no audience limitations on enjoying the original. And now, thanks to our immense labour, The Product(tm) is better than ever."

That would almost sound endeering if it was said by people who actually know how to invent new thing and were not repeated for a hundreth time with same exact wording with only brand name replaced.

I should state that Wizards and Magic combined are losing out to Kobold Press in terms of earnings for such "stunning and brave" views as tired DEI talking point to earn a penny and social credit rating to burn a dollar and run away from said company with the penny. Their sales are eating shit and losing outright to third-party suppliers, and even Magic is getting rejected due to overprinting. I actually think Paizo's own stuff for 5e is actually outselling any of their most recent retarded garbage.

These motherfuckers are facing being divested by the company itself if 5.5 doesn't do gangbusters and they're being liquidated in favor of E20, no matter how much they bleat and honk in denial otherwise. I can state openly that Hasbro is essentially filching their contractors and giving them contracts with wording to that degree.

Also decent odds that "senior" is only senior by dint of not being purged for being too expensive, since Wizards is seen by Hasbro as the sped division; only fuck-ups and people they hate are thrown into there.
