I was actually looking at the Mantic offerings, i got a cheap army deal of their regular dwarves a year ago or so im looking to proxy for rando one off games in my local area, alot of AoS shit has no soul. Although im not finding any deeper images of em just yet

Oh, you were playing a Beast, that much was true… but Beasts weren’t quite as beastly as many had hoped they would be. Beasts, as it turned out, were not actually giants, dragons, gorgons, and other such fantastical creatures of mythology and fairy tales - they were humans with the souls of these monsters.

And, no - it isn’t as if said humans could shapeshift into these things, which is what people were expecting at the very least.

You just can’t actually play as a dragon. Like, at all. Even when aspects of a beast’s “soul” manifest - say, changing one’s hand into a dragon’s claw to rip a locked car door off its hinges, or altering one’s height to match that of a hulking, lumbering ogre - those traits are invisible to average humans. The only caveat to this is when the Beast takes a human to their lair, which is basically some nightmare hell-scape pocket dimension where they can take on a monstrous form.

Changeling was the same, and it was also mocked for being the distilled version of the nonsense believed by White Wolf games. But at the time, they believed in wonder, beauty, and freedom, and wrote games about looking for it. They weren't obsessed with taking it away from the normalfags.

NWoD changeling had one of my favorite things in an RPG ever: The scarecrow ministry. An entire agency of changelings dedicated to keeping mortals from getting dragged into the fae realms by the gentry. You got got and you'll be damned if you let it happen to anyone else. In practice, they functioned as a cross between a cosplay troop and an FBI Hostage Rescue Team, either scaring people away from portals to unreality or saving people from the true fae that would drag them off and it fucking ruled.

Not a new reveal, nor even the first time this happened given you can interpret OG Changeling as this too. The original pitch and kickstarter for Beast went this route, and it was a very polarizing bout of fan feedback. Quite a few people liked the idea, but a lot of people also shat on it for being this.

What happened was the sex pest who wrote this then seriously but halfassedly did a re-write of the splat, and that's why you still get otherkin style moments. It's also why it's such a shitshow of a book; it repeats things often simply because it never went through serious bouts of editing due to the fucked project management. That and from what I recall the Sex Pest was very prone to hating feedback on his idea, so his changes were made mainly via pressure.

A similar issue happened in Deviant, which was why it's also kind of a dumpster fire. I don't know if the obsessive need to make the conspiracies (the antagonist group and kind of like a wraith's shadow sort of) as much of the book as the poor fuckers they mutilated was part of that change, but it's to its detriment.

why. That wouldn't be right. What we will say is that we thought long and hard about it,
and it was done for good reason. This is our considered, honest and only explanation.

Seems like any other business situation, and morons throwing a tantrum because Ukraine. It won't have any long term impact for GW. Hadn't even heard of this being a thing till just now.

LOL, I don't think I've heard about "the aztec problem" before with regard to Trench Crusade. I guess these morons never understood that having the abrahamic religion version of hell opening up and spewing demons out would have an impact on other established religions around the globe? Both those established before the hell portal opened up and thus would drastically affect their belief systems in place, or those that were only established after the portal to hell opened and thus wouldn't have a reason to exist? And rather than addressing the issue in the setting the writers just ignored it entirely?

It's like the whole problem with Wakanda existing in the Marvel universe, where 2 world wars and colonization of Africa by multiple countries and continents happened. Dumbass authors coming up with ideas but failing to consider at the most basic level the kind of impact their idea would have.
