And I can't believe people donate to things like this. I've actually known people who just THROW money at shit like this, just to make themselves feel like good people.
There are much better causes. Like...literally anything else.

Having worked in similar job, it's likely the "Free Gift" is supplied by the company/organization she is doing the seminars for. So in all honesty, the free gift thing isn't so much as they can afford to give away free shit but that the company/organization can afford to give away free shit. There's a huge difference.

Also, her mom DOES go on business lunches, brunches, and dinners. Can it be confirmed that the expensive meal in question was a family outing or business related? I ask because often times companies/organizations have a lot of options when it comes to business expenses of the employees. And yes, this does often include meals when business is conducted, or when it is on company time (depending on the business, the nature of the situation - i.e. not a regular 30min lunch break for a cashier, but someone who is actually conducting some sort of service or business deal.) Some will issue a company credit card, others will reimburse you as long as you have receipts, etc.

Personally, without the clarification I'm hoping to hell it's a family outing. But the free gift thing - that's got a more realistic and probable explanation for itself.

Oh the fact that the mom is apparently there without everyone else makes me think it's definitely business.
I remember reading that too. But if she owns it she'd still have to be at the trips, at least most people I know who own businesses will have to accompany the rest of the team on trips.

I wonder if the sad story is that the Internet found out Veronica was lying again lol

Her mom owns one business (consulting or something like that), but she also works for the firefighter's association (i think that's what it is. i know it definitely is an organization to do with firefighters.) But she also works for a revitalization group in her local area as well (the ones that do the open air farmers market iirc).

I took a closer look - the seminars are being done through the firehouse, likely organized locally by the revitalization group her mom works with, and is a state program. so the "free gift" is most definitely not out of pocket but is, in fact, provided by the state specifically for this program.
