Talent whose careers didn't really go anywhere

I knew about the record deal too... I just think its hilarious that Will Smith, a man whose name at one point guaranteed your movie would top the box office, who has charisma coming oozing out of him...

Nearly spent every dime he had trying to buy his worthless kids careers because they lacked the talent to earn one. And will have to spend the next decade saying yes to every script offered to him for the paychecks, Nicholas Cage-style.
That shit is hilarious. All it would have taken was the tiniest smidge of some sort of talent from his kids, even go the Russian route of "You're not coming out until you're a piano prodigy" and just his name alone would have propelled a career. It's astonishing.

Hattie is doing well. Made her experience into a one woman show.

HJO has those voice-over checks and iirc he's on The Boys?

The entire 7th Heaven cast basically vanished aside from Biel and Watson don't do much. Watson is married to Natalie Wood's daughter and Biel is unfortunately brainwashed by Timberfuck.

He does, actually. He's not an SJW or anything like that, but he's just a normie Democrat, a Biden/Obama shill, and has taken popshots at Trump's relatives on Twitter. I forget the specifics of the story, but a few years or so ago there was some controversy where someone like Ivanka Trump or one of Trump's other relatives dressed up as Princess Leia for Halloween and tweeted at Mark Hamill, and he replied with vitriol and insults (and was applauded by left wing hate mob on social media).

It happens fairly often. You see instances where a GOP politician like Ted Cruz tweets at some random celebrity with a joke or a reference to one of their movies/shows, and the celebrity responds with a "Shut the fuck up, fascist, and stop consuming my media" and gets 100k likes and the front page of Reddit.
Exactly Mark Hamill form what I can see is not a SJW but is an obama/Biden simp. He accused people who weren't voting for Obama in 2012 as racist just for simply not voting the guy.

I notice that alot of actors that I seen in movies growing up. Whose careers didn't go well, I ended up finding out most of the time that they are republican. Which does make me wonder if their political views had something to do with their career not going anywhere.

Also well Mickey Rourke did have a career back in the 80s and early 90s. His comeback career after the Wrestler didn't really go anywhere. The notable movies are Sin City, Iron man 2 and Alex Rider (which bombed at the box office). He also did the Immortals, but I don't know how many actually saw that movie. His career since is just doing b-list action movies

The kids were also raised by their mother, who seems to be an absolute cunt. I'm sure the Smith kids are nasty to deal with and think they are entitled to a career due to who their parents are. I can see some producer having to beg them to show up early to film or record anything.

That and the lack of charisma seem to have been the biggest factors. You can fake talent with a lot of effects, but you can't fake that.

No names in particular as I can't be bothered searching, but back when I was a huge film sperg, I'd always Google an actor or actress's name, only to find that was literally the only film they'd ever starred in, then never worked (in film) again.

You'd get an IMDB/wiki stub saying something like 'after enormous success in 'x' film, Actor A. went on to complete medical school and now works as a physician in Poughkeepsie' or some shit. Really makes you wonder how they got into the film side of things in the first place. Granted, this is more inclusive of classic cinema, not modern day Hollywood.

It almost seems arbitrary who gets to have a big career and who doesn't. Rumors have it that those who agree to keep sucking Producer Dick get to go on while those who refuse get left by the wayside. The only way to get around this is to be a superwoke minority who agrees to shill Hollywood politics in exchange for parts in big movies. And if the movie fails, you can scream it was the fault of some "ism" or other.

I really don't care about a formerly successful actor's political sperging. I think a lot of them just grab a side to get some form of relevancy. Which is likely why they seldom know what the fuck they are talking about. Deep down they are just screaming "somebody please like my tweet! Look how current I'm being! I want to be loved again!". :'(

Alicia Silverstone was heavily hyped as huge up-and-coming talent in the 90s.

A friend of mine likes to point out how FOX hyped up Richard Grieco as the next Johnny Depp.

So back in the 90s she was roasted by the tabloids for gaining a small amount of weight. It just went on and on for weeks and was really scummy. But the Star and Enquirer must have had some slow time. OJ trial was over at that point I think. They had nothing to do.

I think she suffered from eating disorder just like Christina Ricci. I read that Vincent Gallo was pretty verbally abusive to Ricci on the set of Buffalo 66 because he wanted her to be thinner. Wasn't the Lizzy Borden miniseries supposed to be a full series but Ricci just wasn't able to keep up? She was getting really thin at that point. I think she was still in the throws of bullimia.

Erik Von Detten is now in real estate iirc....

The little girl who played Madeline in the live action film. She fell off the face of the earth apparently.

Apparently he's back: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11891318/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_1

The Tonopah Five. Nothing released yet but it was only announced last year and Idon't know if the pandemic stalled it but it is in post now.

It's some comeback kid theme with Lori Beth Denberg, Danny Tamberelli, a Culkin not related to Macauley, Somebody from Girl Meets World and the nurse from Eating Raoul.

I'm actually surprised that Lori Beth Denberg never made a bigger splash playing wacky fat ladies. It was her whole shtick after all and she is good at it.

That's one of those "fun facts" that isn't even actually fun because everybody already knows that Will Smith's kids are shitty and share none of his talent. (They might have inherited the lack of talent from their shitty scientologist mom, or maybe not.)

It is very true that Will used his contacts to get son a failed movie career, but you may have forgot he also used them to get his daughter a failed record contract.. (and she isn't any more talented than her brother is...)

I wonder what Will actually thinks of all this. Deep down knowing your kids are talentless Martians who very well may be sired by Xenu himself. And you try to help them out. Hoping they inherited just a crumb of your talent. But But in the end all you did was waste millions.

I think the big mistake with Jaden was casting him as a star instead of just sticking him in a few smaller supporting roles over various genres and seeing if anything stood out. He always seemed like he didn't really want to be there anyway. He was happier making weird tweets about our eyes not being real. And Daddy wasted your inheritance trying to make you into his successor.

Her name's Mara something IIRC. Some of the people I follow on Twitter randomly retweet her shit: usually SocJus spergery and such. Total washed-up actress who got real ugly once her childhood cuteness wore off, now she relies on convention autographs for money.

Mara Wilson. Honestly, she could use her goofy face to her advantage in comedy if she really wanted to. Missed opportunity.

Michelle Tractenberg.

Was a pretty big child/teen star then appeared in a couple of shit films in the mid 00s and after that has only really been in random episodes of various different procedurals along with doing a small bit of voicework.

EDIT: apparently she was offered the female lead in the Twilight series and turned it down

Honestly I don't blame her. Everybody involved in Twilight seems to hate it and they are still laughed at to this day for being in it.

It's always sobering to watch the opening credits of a TV show and play "Who Went on to do Anything Else?"

Me too. Sometimes I even dig through imdb.
Exactly. Hell, I've watched some various 80's movies and then afterwards Googled the names of the actors to see what they're up to, and often they're old, miserable, and constantly ranting about Trump on Twitter. I few years ago I watched Pet Sematary for the 1st time since I was a kid, and I looked up what the mom is doing (I forget her name -- she had short blonde hair and used to be kinda hot) and discovered she'd hit a brick wall with age and would bitch about muh Orange Man on Twitter. That's just the tip of the iceberg. A lot of the people you mentioned (especially George Takei) are basically only famous FOR being washed-up and not doing anything relevant since their heydays. I'd even argue that Takei especially is probably only famous for being famous, and his whole novelty is that he's a gay old Asian guy who was briefly relevant in the 60's. In fact, that's basically the only reason why he was a Howard Stern guest for so long. His only claim to fame was token Asian character on OG Star Trek, and literally everything else is a self-deprecating joke role based on that. At least Shatner and Nimoy did other stuff outside of Star Trek, which is definitely more than what you can say about Mark Hamill.

The lady from Pet Sematary is Denise Crosby. She was just in an episode of Creepshow. The scientist with big glasses thing actually suits her.

Rosamund Pike (Allegedly difficult to work with)
Really? I had no idea. Any sources on that?

Also, her latest movie "I Care A Lot" is basically her playing her "Gone Girl" character all over again, but with a more sardonic tone.

She nailed the "absolute fucking bitch" character.

Richard Kelly, you could not have asked for a better debut as an indie filmmaker than Donnie Darko but he was never able to have continued success and hasn't directed a movie in over a decade.
I remember reading an article where even he admits that he doesn't know what the fuck the movie is about.

Anyways, I'm throwing in Edward Norton as another actor that, according to the rumor mill, is a pain in the ass to work with. However he seems to be self-aware of it since he parodies himself in "Birdman".

Liz Hurley is another one that fizzled out quite rapidly in the early '00s.
