Biden was VP during the Obama era but it's wasn't his call. How exactly is this outcome Biden's fault, first and foremost? 20 years of failure led up to this moment
So we trained a fighting force of 300,000 Afghani men with good weapons and gear and training programs and paid them money. Then it turned out, were disloyal at the first potential opportunity and gave over everything the US put in arm's reach to their Taliban cousin and his entourage.
Now, we're supposed to believe there is a group of 100,000 Afghan civilians who were "working for us" as well, and that because they've done so well "working for us" and being trained by us, we should definitely fly them all back to our nice developed nations.
I'm sure none of these guys are doublecrossers more loyal to their local warlord than the US government. All the doublecrossers were the ones we gave guns to. The ones we didn't give guns to before are honest, hardworking people who would never betray us.
I think we're already past the point of PR mattering, at least internally in the US. Even if the PR is bad, which it already is, who is going to hold the leadership accountable? Everyone blames someone else and as soon as the media cycle is done, people stop caring.Wouldn't that be a little risky for PR just in case some other country decides to go in and get some of their people and happens to liberate some americans while they were doing that?

Something really stinks. We have tons of Airlift capability in the region, greater capacity than most countries entire Air Forces yet we aren't generating non stop missions to get our staff out of there and SIVs. As far as I know only one C17 took off. What the fuck is happening? Does the Biden administration just not want to get people out of there? If so why did they dump off thousands of airborne/air assault at the airport? Considering the cell phone camera footage I think the ground commander doesn't know what he's doing. They may have picked a token minority or faggot in an attempt to get a good PR story going who started panicking and fucking up to the point the NCOs on the ground are trying to make due and there's no cohesion.
The problem isn't withdrawal from Afghanistan. A month ago we were told confidently that everything was fine and the post-Trump plans for Afghanistan were as good as ever. How exactly is this outcome Biden's fault, first and foremost? 20 years of failure led up to this moment
Outside of a few ultras, those guys are basically extinct. Stolen elections, Stasi tactics against peaceful protests, and breathtaking retardation from the leadership class combined with falling living standards take the mickey out of all but the most devoted patriotards. This thread is dedicated to the brave muhjadeen fighters of Afghanistan.
No, but really this is wonderful.
American exceptionalism at it's finest.
Can't wait to see the cope, seething ans dilating from the type of american who thumps his chest at anything is country does as if he had anything to do with it.
Yes, I'm sure you're very important. And before you call me a fag or something... My country has both arid desert-like mountains and rice fields.
If you invade us it will be like vietnamistan on steroids.
Other countries are sending aircraft in and out. We also still have a fuck ton of C-130s are designed to take off and land on improvised runways using a short distance. Kabul Airport wasn't a FOB. It has a pretty big runway. As for getting AA, the Soviets lost so many air assets because they initially didn't bother installing countermeasures because they weren't expecting too many guided missiles. I remember flying into KAF and Bagram and the flight engineers manned chaff and flare dispensers while flying in and out of Afghanistan. I don't think we left any AA for the ANA and I don't recall seeing any shikas, gaskins or any Soviet era SHORAD that might have survived from the DAR soviet puppet state outside of some 14.5 machineguns. Allegedly they have a Division's worth of Combat Arms, that's enough if properly led to secure the airfield and reach out past the SAM footprint (The minimum effective distance to fire a MANPAD at a an Aircraft taking off or landing at the runway).A C17 is very vulnerable on take off and landing. The entire country is owned by the Taliban, and there are also rogue former government forces.
So far, the Taliban have been keeping a tight reign on their "core" forces - no attacks on foreigners, no going wild on the civilians, they are being very disciplined and the Taliban leadership is communicating.
But there is no one Taliban. There are a bunch of warlords. The Taliban have clearly put the most level-headed, least kill all infidels commanders and troops in Kabul. who the fuck knows who is in charge - if anyone - out in the boonies.
So you land a C17 on an improvised landing strip. Load it up. Send it up, and it gets MANPAD'ed or just Soviet AA'ed.
Now what, smart guy?
In a very real sense they should have tanks and MRAPS and thunderrun everyone out to China, but that's got its own level of hell. You could try another *Stan, but they are not going to want to piss off the new political force and they are not going to want Afghans in their borders.
There are other geopolitical calculations to consider (principally about people putting their feet on your territory and you now having responsibility for them even if they aren't your citizens) but I don't feel like getting into them.
Theres a mainstream trump media machine that always stops the true jounalist and tells lies!!!Who cares about PR when you own the media? Anything that runs contrary to the CNN narrative is racist nazi Fake News.

As for leaving on ground, that would be stupid. Military vehicles eat up too much gas, the roads in Afghanistan are unreliable and lastly when the Soviet Army did that (with the assets already in place) they still lost 525 men.

Norwegian troops battle Taliban gunman in siege at luxury Kabul hotel
Gunmen stormed a luxury hotel in Kabul and killed at least six people including a Ukrainian, sparking a 12-hour battle with Afghan forces backed by Norwegian troops that left terrified guests scrambling to escape.www.thelocal.no
I stopped reading when the "TRUMP TOTALLY DID" headline turned into the usual "could've/would've". that kind of low effort "journalism" is slowly making me MATI, especially since no ever calls that shit out. This article is based around one guy's interpretation of events, one that came into his position right as the details had been hammered out and the cease fire agreement had been negotiated until May. I don't deny that there was probably a hope that they could get the Republic to power share with the Taliban because of the pullout but this was not possible, the Taliban already had something near 60-70% of the country under their control and all of the major highways were contested or fully controlled by Taliban forces. The war had effectively been lost somewhere between 2015-2017 based off maps showing control of this or that region. Miller states that it goal was to keep a force in the country after the government ended up being dominated by the Taliban 70-30%, this is Chernobyl TV series level of delusional and shows that these people are abject morons divorced from reality. I also question his interpretation because Trump had also ordered the removal of troops from Somalia back during the summer as well and had been talking about draw downs and departures his entire administration, Afghanistan was perpetually delayed because of the attempt for that power sharing agreement before pivoting to the ceasefire during pullout.
you also can't say stalin, hitler and dick. does that mean they're communist nazi penises? it's pretty much the same filter list almost every game has used for decades (with some chinese flavor on top), because they simply don't want you to talk about that shit at all. btw you can still call someone a fag, just saying.Like it's a stupid fucking example but that Genshin impact game that's huge right now doesn't allow players to mention hong kong or taiwan. And since china's gaining control of other games companies like epic, i think it's totally possible for it to spread beyond to social media or anywhere else they feel they can get a hold.

He also could face imprisonment if he flees to Israel for refusing to divorce his wife.It wasn’t the first time Simantov had tried to extort someone seeking to contact him. “I don’t go under 200 dollars,” one journalist from a German news organization reported him as saying in 2015. Another account from last year has Simantov demanding $500 from an Israeli journalist for an interview, finally settling on $100.
Amie Ferris-Rotman, a British-Jewish journalist who used to work in Afghanistan, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, “He really liked alcohol, and used to insist journalists who wanted to interview him bring some.”
