Jesus christ this is depressing.
Agreed.
He's just a broken motherfucker trying to find someway to get his pieces back together.
Agreed.
Thank you for the summary, Shitlord. It's appreciated, regardless of the fact that I saw the video anyway.
Tax's views will forever be tied to his name. That's just something that people associate. Misconceptions will naturally arise when he does terribly confusing things, like that salute, but the thing that Tax needs to understand is that if he's going to harbor such views, which he should know go against so many other peoples' views, he can't expect people not to ask questions or make assumptions about his character based on his behavior and his views, two other things people correlate. When people challenge them, he can't be defensive or attempt to justify them in the ways he's been doing. It's just a fact he'd have to accept, but... Tax doesn't seem to like accepting facts.
It's beyond sad that things have come to this point. It's quite obvious he feels he doesn't have any choice other than trying to get to Equestria. If anyone is familiar with the effects and after-effects of acid, do you think his paranoia and despair in that video may have resulted from the trip? I mean, he would have had his paranoia anyway, but do you think it was very likely made worse?
The idea that one could make mistakes so terrible that it becomes impossible to move on from them is something that would terrify many. The consistency and manner of mistakes Tax has made surely would prevent him from coming back to his own community, unless he completely turned himself around, but contrary to what he apparently believes, there are less mistakes he's made than he thinks. I think. He still isn't universally hated or pitied in his life outside the internet, and he could probably start relatively fresh there. If he got some help for his paranoia and anxiety, was critical of his own behavior and feelings, and maybe cleaned himself up a tad, he could still salvage a reasonably enjoyable life here. If he made some friends, stopped thinking so big, pulled away from the net and met recollections to that time he spent here with contrition and lucidity, etc. That's the thing he seems to lack: Clarity. Be it failing to realize that he is at fault for his own actions, and that those actions have consequences, or that the world isn't out to get him, he's delusional on so many levels, and the longer it goes untreated, the longer it tortures him. Unfortunate as it is, he very likely will never receive help for it without some sort of intervention, because of the things he believes getting help will actually do to him; it can be easy at times to forget, when someone is angry or sad about something one may think is silly, that they still take it seriously.
This is a truly incredible video on all accounts. It so thoroughly encapsulates his condition. Perhaps we have the alcohol to thank for that, though; some are regretfully truthful, drunk. I don't think Tax is that bad a person, just that he's very confused. He desperately needs help.
