Null is right, the press are scum, but it looks like the reason they're scum is that journalism has become the latest dumping ground for wealthy families to dump their worthless idiotic children while still having them gain power and spread influence. Journalism is the new Catholic Church.

I don't think "has become" is right historically. The degreed "professional" journalist/media scribe is a fairly modern invention though. Journalism schools at the university level started shortly after the turn of the 20th Century but it was really only after World War II that they started to exist as we know them. The internet has done a lot to show how worthless they are but the highest institutions in media still prize those degrees and especially ones that come from the highest class schools.
