I think it's the fact that she lied about it and basically called other journalists liars for reporting it that was the final nail.

Add that if she's this annoying on Twitter, imagine what she's like in real life with the co-vid sperging? I'd assume she's never in office and she doesn't really bring a lot to the paper either. As someone said - where's all the high-profile interviews? I don't even get what sort of things she's supposed to be reporting on.

Hate to break it to you but independent journos / podcasters can make a shitload more on Substack than they can working as a freelancer or a traditional newspaper job.
Look at “our own” blocked and reported as an example.

They can, but they need an audience that's willing to pay for it. The question is what does Taylor Lorenz bring to the table that will make people part with $70 per year to read her articles?
