I think because of the expectation that a performer somewhat resembles, or at the least tolerates, the culture of the people who support them.

I would expect a (vaguely) country musician would drink beer, watch NASCAR and own a pickup truck. I would expect a rapper would drink malt liquor, watch NBA and own a donk. And I would expect a musician in a boy band to drink soymilk, watch figure skating and own a Prius.

I don't think many people who listen to country music are woke.

Putting "Other" won't be good enough. That'll be considered offensive.

"How dare you group my unique identity together with other people's unique identities! You fucking bigots!".

Putting simply "Non-Binary" won't be good enough either, because those that identify as a "Lesbian Bisexul Gender Fluid Magic Marker" will want to actually see that on every form they fill out, and they won't be happy until they see it there....or even after they get it because then they'll just find something else to complain about.
