Adding cloud-connected or AI shit to on-premises products.

I'm testing an upgrade for a product we use and the new web UI has been shit up with at least two things requiring another subscription. And you apparently can't even turn the fucking buttons off.

One is a remote analytics service, click on it and it says "please enter your subscription data in the setings" I found where it gathers and uploads data and now it says "please turn on data collection" No, I want the button gone.

Another is for an AI accelerator for writing code you run in the system, but all that button does is goes to their sales page for the tool. It's not even something this web UI would have access to as it's an add-on for the developers machines.

Fucking cunts.

I miss old browser popup ads because they could easily be blocked, as opposed to the modern nightmare of Javascript popups that have to be seen at least once to be blocked. Also they very often have random character strings in the element name and/or break scrolling on the site after adding the blocking rule.

No, I don't give a fuck about your newsletter/5% off/fullscreen cookie warning. I don't even want to know it's there.

I want phones with keyboards again. The xperia minipro had the most amazing keyboard experience. It was so comfortable at one point I could type without looking at the keyboard OR screen. I want that shit back.
I don't see why it's so fucking hard for one of the major phone makers to have something akin to a slide out with a keyboard.

Also, has anyone else noticed that all the normies with their iPhones always opt for the cheapest ones? Kind of destroys the purpose of buying a phone based on conspicuous consumption.

I tried cheap Android flip phone and all I can say is, keyboard is nice but if it's not integrated into the workflow then it's going to be extremely clunky experience. Modern Android is based around touch, OEM would have to put at least minimum effort on software side to make it work.

What I don't get from Iphone users is why whenever I see them on the subway, 80% of the time their phone is beaten to shit. Are they seriously that fragile? I'm not being sarcastic, I actually never owned one so I have no idea, but their screens get so cracked it looks like a hazard.

They probably don't want to put covers and extra glass on top to not ruin the looks. It's easy to crack any phone, just drop it on concrete from 3 feet a couple times. Another explanation is shortsighted people spending money on needless status toy not thinking far enough to buy some protection for their expensive phone, but that makes me sound like a seething poor, right?

You sound like the Crackberry-heads I knew who went into a months long mourning period when support completely evaporated and they were basically bricked. They looked like lost souls. They raged at touchscreens.

I have NEVER had this happen, and I was an early adopter and got one the first day it was available. I was one of those retard consoomers in a line barely after dawn. I didn't even treat it particularly well or use a cover. I dropped it onto concrete accidentally multiple times.

It lasted eight years, only finally getting a tiny crack in the corner of the screen right before I gave it away.

I know what you mean, though. I know a relative who always has the latest, greatest, most retard expensive iPhone and it's always fucked up beyond all belief. I have no idea what these idiots do to fuck these things up so much because they're actually seriously tough.

But to bring it back on topic, I absolutely detest the trend of phones with giant screens. They're not big enough to be pads, but they're too big to be phones. What the fuck is up with this bullshit? If I wanted a goddamn pad, I'd buy a pad. What the fuck am I supposed to do with this giant goddamn thing?

That's also a contributor to the scuffed up fucked up cracked screens. Screens become incredibly fragile in proportion to the size. I don't know if it's a square-cube law thing but the larger a screen is, the more easily it cracks. I just want a screen that gives me the info I want! I do not need a fucking phone in imax or some shit.

I wouldn't hold by breath. Making people happy is not in their budget plan and it's oligopoly, so they can't compete if their product doesn't look indistinguishable from the other brands.

Now tell me which drill is which brand? (no cheating)

Every power tool is the same Hitachi motor with a coat of paint and branding slapped on it change my mind.

I hate the complete lack of manuals or explanation of anything from the first party. Videogames are the worst about this and I blame Minecraft. if I need to go to an external website to understand game mechanics than it is a bad game. This also relies on the game reaching a certain level of popularity with the kind of autistic people that will trial and error out The mechanics since they are as previously mentioned otherwise unexplained, so smaller titles rely on that suffer significantly in their playability.

Warnings: Chinese company so maybe don't trust them, they aren't too friendly to modding so installing something other than Android would be a pain, build quality isn't great(key paint wearing on prior models, back plate not being adhesive), specs aren't fantastic but I feel it's workable with the price, they don't really provide continued support and updates

somehow i saw an ad for one of these recently and it was one of those, wow the kids are fucked moment's

(i think these were originally powerpoint slideshow controllers, which were also at one point kindle scrollers, and now this)

To this day, I still choose to use the original 2007 Crysis when testing the performance and functionality of any computer CPU/GPU I acquire.

There's probably something more suitable out now, but idgaf. If it runs Crysis well, then it's plenty good enough for me.

I used to have a tradition of watching super Mario frustration as the first video played on any new TV or phone

Some newer cars now have electrically dimming sunroofs, instead of having sunshades. Two examples include the new Nissan Leaf EV, and the Lexus RZ EV:

Do people not want actual sunshades for their sunroofs anymore? I guess we can blame Tesla YET AGAIN for inspiring this shit when they added their full panoramic sunroofs with no sunshades.

Yea, my not-Tesla also has a all-glass roof. I don't really care either way but I also don't live somewhere where the sun shines.

They were tough, once. Durability went out the window sometime around the iPhone 6, which was thin and light enough that you could bend the logic board and kill the phone just by holding it wrong or looking at it funny.

The SE is pretty solid although it appears it will be the last reasonably sized iPhone in the foreseeable future. I really detested the 6 and never had one.

I fucking love that video. I remember downloading that rom and actually trying to beat that one level.

I gave up after hours years ago, and haven't tried since.
