Apple CarPlay is expanding their system, calling it Apple CarPlay Ultra, which also will include Apple-designed car gauges and even controlling HVAC: / Archive

And while some auto makers such as Aston Martin, Porsche, and Hyundai/Kia/Genesis will be adding CarPlay Ultra compatibility, some automakers (Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volvo, Polestar, and Renault) have decided to backtrack on support for it. Those automakers are definitely doing that only to keep their systems locked down, as well as locking down on data collection to use for themselves, like how GM stopped offering Apple CarPlay on their newer EVs.

Those Apple car gauges look absolutely soulless too, to the point that the gauges in shitty Chinese cars look and feel better.

I’m tired of going offline for 5 minutes just to keep getting “Some faggot you don’t know or follow posted a reel you probably won’t like”
There's no option in settings to disable that? Even with all of Social Media's technological faults, I remember most allowed you to disable shit that annoyed you, including seeing bullshit posts that have no relation to you.

If I could disable it I wouldn’t be complaining about it, looked everywhere on the settings and… even visited Reddit but it’s one of those features that they’re pushing. Reminds me of Twitter, getting stupid shit from people I don’t follow. Or even for another ramble… threads (which I immediately disabled)

Had to rent what they call a pickup truck the other day, and I had the joy of discovering the really cool new feature where you can't shift out of park until you put your seatbelt on. Really great and useful when you are trying to back up into a tight area
I think mine has that feature, one of 37 things I turned off within minutes of taking delivery. It still dings, and dings, and dings, but at least it doesn't not drive.
Others include auto-braking, the seat shaker, auto-lane-change when using the 'fancy' cruise control, auto-lock, auto-unlock, horn on lock or unlock from the remote, lights flashing as you approach the truck.

what in the world is that?
When you close too fast on the car in front of you and it wants you to slam on the brakes, or the magical cruise control needs to disconnect because the computer can't find the lines it vibrates the hell out of the seat. Think of a subwoofer attached to the seat and turned up to 11. I prefer it to just beep.
I think I had it trigger one time and went... what the everloving fuck was that. Until I found the menu to turn it off.

Why does anyone need or want a touchscreen on their pc case? Also, building my first pc since 2020 and it's a massive pain in the ass finding components that aren't rgb. Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I don't care what my pc looks like as long as it runs fine.
So I pay extra for a special screen I get to be shown ads on. I hate this. I hate RBG too. Everything that I like is dark and not techno coloured.

Also I hate batteries.

Civilization (the original) system requirements [1]:

Intel 8088 or 8086 CPU. 640 KB RAM required.
Graphics support for EGA, MCGA, Tandy/PCjr or VGA graphics.
Audio support for PC speaker, Ad Lib, Sound Blaster, Tandy/PCjr or Roland MT-32 (and more with custom sound driver).
Keyboard and Mouse supported.
It also came on 4 floppy disks, and installed to 2.7 MB of disk space.

Civilization VII minimum system requirements [2]:

OS: Windows 10 64-bit or newer
CPU: Intel i5-4690 / Intel i3-10100 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200
Memory: 8 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1050 / AMD RX 460 / Intel Arc A380
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 20 GB
And AFAIK one can only get it via "digital download" (doubtful the installer fits on DVD-ROM anyway).

[1] Civilization (1991) (on DOS Days)
[2] Civilization VII System Requirements and recommended specs (on Corsair)

Storage: 20 GB

What adds insult to injury is when you buy software that comes on a USB stick and the USB only has a net installer on it and you still need high speed Internet to actually download the software. Not to mention, you could have just downloaded the net installer online anyway, so you really wasted your time buying as over marketed licence key.

If they likes their customers they might hive put the 20GB on a USB stick with the installer instead of a DVD ROM(s). Syke! Here is a net installer on USB and a stupid paper carton with licence key.

When people decorate their laptops or consoles with stickers.

That looks tacky as hell.
I don't mind stickers so long as they aren't slapped on haphazardly and have some though into placement.

Unfortunately people just put them anywhere with no thoughts, like tattoos. At least these aren't as bad as the "punk" kids who sticker up their guitars and basses.

TAX: Why is the simple act of removing deleted/privated videos from a YouTube playlist like pulling teeth? Even after clicking "show unavailable videos", it only showed me 2 of the 5.

I put a banana sticker on a laptop of mine, to cover the webcam. Because of me doing that thing, I can see that "Chiquita" logo a lot.

Stickers on laptops was more a thing like 10-13 years ago, nowadays the only people I seen doing that were tryhards and trannies.

Really useful if you're trying to run away quick too, like those fucking ADAS that hit the brakes if anyone walks in front of your car, even if they have a gun...
