Tech you miss/ new tech trends you hate - ok boomers

Apparently there's a Powertoys for Windows 11 now? So there's always that option I guess.
I don't want to install some bullshit thing just because I want to change one single setting that any non-retarded control panel would let me do with one click. Why the fuck are mice automatically set up to scroll in the wrong direction anyway? It's like toilet paper automatically being installed to go the wrong way.

Remember the steering yoke that Tesla hyped about? Well it turns out, it isn't as straight forward to use as a regular steering wheel.

The bigger issue that CR reported is the turn signal controls being capacitive touch buttons, instead of a stalk. You have to press softly to flash the turn signals three times for a lane change, and you have to press it hard, for the turn signals to stay on until you turn. And that's still no replacement for the physical feedback that you get from a normal turn stalk. Also, the horn is a capacitive touch control too.

The Last Stand games were really fun and kept me occupied way back when, same with Road of the Dead and its sequel later on.
Hey, that's me!

"Why don't you use iMessage text?"
"You should Facetime me."
"Wanna play a game? What's your Apple number?"

Not everybody owns an iPhone. I could be wrong, but Apple products age faster than their competitors.

Generally the hardware is fine, they just end software support on their end so normies will upgrade. I use a near decade old unibody MacBook Pro with Linux on it and it works great, for example. Of course that's not really an option with phones or tablets. That being said, I haven't used an Apple product made after 2013, so what do I know?

Might as well: Every touch button. When it's something like a phone then there's no viable alternatives, but if you can just make it analog then fucking do it rather than something you don't have any feedback for and can break.

Google isn't perfect, but I prefer using Google based apps because they are universally supported on Android and iOS.

I cannot think of anybody who regularly uses iCloud.

Some devices really shouldn't have complicated software and processors running them and should be at most microcontroller level. In a perfect world, there would be laws regarding the maximum processing power an appliance, controls etc. is/are allowed to have. Companies act like just stuffing complex hacked together ancient kernel linux computers into everything down to lightbulbs has literally no downsides until it does. A friend of mine has a monitor (like normal, non-"smart" computer monitor) Which has an OS running the GUI which sometimes crashes and leaves the monitor unresponsive to button input or leaves it stuck if it was in powersaving mode. Because there's of course no hardware power switch and the soft power switch is controlled by the OS too, all that helps is unplugging the cable and replugging. The manufacturer is basically just shrugging. This should never, ever happen and it being implemented that needlessly complex let directly to it.

MySpace was a simpler time. Don't get me wrong, 00s pop culture was a mess of celebrity tracking, 80s discos and 90s counterculture. But one thing taken for granted then was the aspect of anonymity. You had a MySpace, it was a little corner of yours on the World Wide Web. It didn't consume lives compared to social media today.

While I won't go so far as to defend MySpace itself, it's failure was in retrospect the end of the anonymous internet. Right as it was the earliest stages of fading, is when Facebook and Google were promoting the whole 'using your real name' shit everywhere.

I have had classmates and even some cousins tell me they thought I was dead since I don't use social media, and I say to them, you'd know I was alive if you bothered to come look for me. But their interest doesn't extend beyond the 2 seconds it takes to 'friend' someone you havent seen in 30 years.

I'm not proud to admit this, but I miss facebook before their conversion to Judaism. There's so many ads and so much algorithm bias that I haven't looked at my account for years. I'd rather just text than be constantly bombarded with bullshit I don't want to see. (Also, KF is probably the closest thing to social media I can do without getting banned... I tend not to last long on sites with any form of censorship in effect.)
Remember when Facebook could be used to find nearby events and keep in touch with local communities?

Not any-fucking-more!

The internet becoming global.

Sure, in the 90's I was chatting to people in Australia and America, because it was a novelty, but I had to look for those places that offered that global connectivity. Now you google, facebook etc someone or something and it brings up "Joe Bloggs from Nevada". No, not nevada you fucking mongoloid search engine, I'm based in teh fucking UK.

Worse still, just trying to find people you used to know/work with/go to school with is almost impossible because you cannot filter by locations. Search engines bring up American sites when looking for British cars, products and services. Google knows where the fuck I live, because if i type in 'near me' it knows the area. Yet when looking for people and shit it has no fucking clue.

There's no way of finding local groups, local people or what's going on locally without specifically looking for that thing. "buh buh reddit"..No. Reddit is an American website with no UK homebase, unlike the MSN chats of yesteryear. I could go to MSN UK, look on the chat rooms for my area, and be talking to people my age just a few miles away.

Man, i really miss the old internet. I miss the quiet, the lack of people, the local community feel with the option of chatting to people on the other side of the world. Now it's taken for granted or not even thought about that the person you're chatting with lives, not in another city, or county, or even country, but across the other side of the fucking planet. I miss talking on the internet about shit happening in my area, city and county. Not getting bombarded with global pandemic shit, or god forbid, people talking about the American President! (Yeah i know, avi and name of Biden, irony/stupidity hur dur) But, you can't powerlevel. I can't put shit about my local area without the concern of some fucking cocksucking twitter yank fag tracking me down and calling me a racist or whatever fucking buzzword of [current year hate], thanks to the lack of anonymity and companies requiring Facebook/Linkedin profiles to get a job.

Thanks for listening to my Ted sperg

MATI. Very very MATI. I'm off for a walk to roll in grass.

I hate that it seems to be a bad thing to prefer a headphone jack in my electronic devices.

Soycuck switch users are especially guilty of that claiming that they are an extinct “species” of technology and screeching so autistically loud about how proud they are that switch doesnt have half the features of the 3ds like a headphone jack and an actual library of games with built in reverse compatibility with all nds games that you dont even have to look for it on youtube.

Even genuinely and simply asking them about whats so great about the switch just sends them into a hilarious tard rage. So glad I didnt get a switch.

That's just been getting worse and worse over the last 3 years, I can accept that accidents will happen and a site may end up in the listings for the UK but when I am looking for Brick yards Manchester I mean Manchester England not Manchester Texas, it gets to you when you see a suggestion or auto correct from the British English word i.e. Showing you results for Truck Hire or did you mean Lorry Rental etc and the local groups thing is really annoying I was looking for a local community group that was starting up before Covid hit and all i got was commercial services in the area and I had to dig down to page 3 to find there community webpage that the local paper hadn't bothered to link in the artical they had posted even though I had used the groups full name and was just missing the TLD.

Google is the worst offender for this kind of crap, but it's not just limited to them DDG is great for more general searches i.e. how do I do X, or who was the pope in 1612, but for local non American stuff it was useless untill recently one good thing is they are improving it's slow but they are getting much better and the moment they can crack that I will be abandoning google forever.

Vape.
Vape sucks balls.
I tried 2 or 3 ecigs. (Blu), last year.

I haven't smoked in over 20 years, even then I was a casual pack/week. Mostly for stress/drinking.
But vape is nothing like a real cigarette. Taste, process, hit. All suck balls.

Construction old-timers agree with me too. It might be better for you, but you may as well use nicorette.
Fuckin weird thing to agree about in the tech forum.

But yeah, fucking the feel of the drag and inhaling did it more for me than anything the fucking nicotine did. I think I got a nicotine buzz like once and I was smoking fuckin Djarums of all things.

I also like the taste and smell of tobacco and while I havent fucked with vaping, the ecig shit I did try a long time ago, idk it wasnt the same, and I think most vape shit is replicating retarded shisha flavors for hookahs. Hell even then hookah bars are less gay than fucking vaping shit. At least some of them are kinda cool places.
