Tech you miss/ new tech trends you hate - ok boomers

Every time I go to turn the computer off at work, I find I have to click the shutdown flyout menu (why is it a fucking Electron app fuck you jeets) multiple times, because the search bar loads in after I have clicked it the first time and then pulls focus, causing the flyout to close.
Similar thing in "new" Outlook, I click the search bar, begin typing to find a specific email chain that I retardedly did not file, and then realise that the search bar just.. did not take focus and I have collapsed 48 menus and opened the last selected email.

I’ve only experienced this in UK which was extra frustrating because the servers never did the rounds around the tables so there was literally no one to flag down so I could order (without going up to the bar)
I had this the other day at a food truck. I asked if I could order something and they said use the tablet on the front. By the time I'd ordered they handed me the food. It was just pointless busy work.

I still believe 5:4 monitors are fantastic as secondary screens, and I actually had one until I lost it while moving somehow. Mine even had DisplayPort, although it wasn't DP++ so HDMI wasn't supported. I bought the damn thing from Lenovo in 2020, it got discontinued a while ago.

I still kinda miss 4:3 being standard. Back when "standard definition" meant 640 x 480. Speaking of, why can't newer "smartphones" take photos at 480p anymore? Why only 4K+?

I also wonder why 16:10 didn't catch on, and 16:9 became the defacto standard.

Whoever came up with facebook "reels" needs to be taken behind the shed and Old Yellered.

I need to have fb messenger on my phone for certain contacts and group chats and I get sent stupid fucking reels throughout the day now. If I was interested in zomg!!! So funny!!! Zoomer humor I would fucking join tiktok.

Excuse me now, I have to go yell at some clouds.

Why do soundbars suck so hard? This is my fourth one all from different brands and they've all enjoyed a month long lifespan before dying.
Why did we ever "need" soundbars to begin with? Unless you are setting up a home theater situation (0.001% of people) they are completely unnecessary. Yet most commercial video releases have shit audio mixing geared towards them.

You want to watch something and actually hear what people are saying? FUCK YOU! You want to watch something at night without waking up the neighbors every time stupid music or pew! pew! scenes pop up? FUCK YOU!

Excuse me, now that I am done yelling at clouds I have to go chase some kids off my lawn.

It's probably already been posted before but this is more of a general OS bitch and complaint. The trend to bloat the amount of clicking to get anything done or to access anything on your device or calling having to go through 2-3 context menus to do something that was once a home screen/desktop feature "Streamlining" it.

The amount of click through to do ANYTHING on any device now from grandma's "Roku fer the TV" after it updates, smartphones and the newer windows versions feels almost like a futurama sight gag on the extreme end.
To a lesser extent affects websites too, the amount of nesting in menus for shit that does not need it is ridiculous.

Not sure if I miss it, because it came with many problems but manual chokes on cars were fun. Made startups more engaging. Had to crank, play with throttle but not overdo it or it would flood the carb and once it starts smoothly transition from throttle input to choke and let it warm up for a minute.
It would suck in the winter, we're talking -20C.
Shit I hate? Small engine cars with direct injection, those are built to fail because of carbon buildup on valves and rings. Would be nice to have a s small motor with 2 sets of injectors, direct for startup and cat warmup so envirro-dipshits are happy and then port injectors for cruise and to keep soot away, Is it more expensive? Sure but you'd get small engines that don't chug oil after 100k and are scrapped because of issues caused by retarded emission regulations.
