If you're using Brave's Tor window, open z.youtube.com in a tab (it should be the page not found error), use the menu to get a new Tor circuit, then try visiting youtube.com in a new tab. If youtube.com redirects you to the bot check, close it to return to your z.youtube.com tab, and get a new Tor circuit again until you find one that works. It usually takes a few tries, but it's not outrageous.

Other Tor browsers you should just be able to get a new Tor circuit on the KF page and see if the embeds start working, but Brave's Tor is weird in that it seems to want to use a particular circuit for each domain (and if you get a new Tor circuit for KF, it won't change the circuit it's using for the YT embeds).

Did something stupid and I deleted my Tor browser, which meant I had to reinstall it. Oddly enough images seem to be loading faster. Might be the bridge I'm using.

Sorry if this has been answered but search isn't working for me. Is the auto sign in not working? It's fine if it's a thing right now, I just didn't know if I did something wrong. It makes me sign in every time I come to the site. Yes I checked the box and I'm on Tor

If you're using Tor Browser, that clears all cookies etc when you close it down. The site sees you as an entirely new person when you connect again because your session cookie is gone.

You have to go to the 1685203910054.png in the upper-right corner and click on "Settings". Navigate to the "Privacy and Security" tab and make sure to uncheck "Delete cookies and site data when Tor is closed".

I'm having mire trouble than usal getting archived videos to play. Most of the time they show up as being 00:00 long. I've refreshed the page multiple times, switched circuits and cleared my cache. Nothing. Is there something else I can try?

Any Invidious instance will do.

I wonder how Invidious will react to YouTube's new anti-ad blocking agenda.
If history is any indicator it will be a cat and mouse game.

They tried to do this with "restricted" videos containing mature subject matter requiring login. Spoiler: it still works just fine on most invidious instances and I have not logged in to YT for several years.

Could changing your DNS servers help? I was using the default dns addresses my ISP game me, but switched to cloudfare and OpenDNS and tor connections seem a smidge more reliable now.

Tor traffic shouldn't be leaking out to any DNS servers, because that would be bad, since anyone would know what domain you're visiting/requesting.
DNS is not encrypted.

fair, I'm a bit fuzzy about how the connection from one's computer to the first node in the tor network is made and sustained.

But it does seem to be helping a lot on my end. but I did also disable ipv6 as i was having network quality issues and was trying a few ways to fix it. As it is the site is currently very responsive and everything works.

what does the prospect of clearnet access look like right now?

I got banned from telegram for asking null if the hacker who knocked the site offline for weeks was going to get $700 or if there's a higher rate for that

surely that was just a glitch considering how proud he was the first time

this is much more likely than doing anything with DNS, if you have an IPv6 setup and anything in the chain between you and the Internet is doing something fucky with IPv6, it can cause all sorts of weird issues and errors, especially since the IPv6 setups often fail "partially" - they work, but are slow, drop packets, etc.

Many network administrators just turn IPv6 off because of that, but you can try it by disabling it at the router/firewall and seeing if it changes, or get an IPv6 tunnel from Hurricane Electric instead.
