Feedback Technical Grievances

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I don't know if this is the place for it but every time I insert a picture through a link it doesn't show up

But if I upload it straight from my PC its fine
As a general rule you should always upload it. Linking images is bad because the original image isn't stored here and it could just disappear if the site you linked it from ever deletes it or even just changes the URL.

When I try to view my watched threads, I am now getting the following error:
"A server error occurred. Please try again later. "

edit: Fixed.

Sometimes when I try to save an image, it saves as ".webp" instead of a png or jpg. It seems to only happen with thumbnails, whenever an image is uploaded where you can click on it to expand it always saves normally. I'm on mobile using Brave Browser for Android, in case that's in any way relevant.

Also, on mobile, there seems to be no indicator whether a thread in the Watched Threads list has unread messages or not, but if I use the desktop layout of the site there's a little dot that's filled in next to it if there are unread messages.

That's not mobile specific. Webp is a Xenforo thing and a lot of other sites use it too. I don't know why (never looked into it) and it's fucking annoying.

Bookmarked posts use kiwifarms.net links instead of onion links when on Tor.
Also, when you click the "onion available" button on Tor Browser, it loses the post you were navigating to. I don't know if you can fix that on your end.

Maybe I'm just dumb, but I can't reply to the messages left on my own profile (no relevant buttons/text fields appear) and the one thread comment I've made is in "awaiting moderator" limbo (is that SOP for a first post?). I can react to stuff, but that's it. Is this permission quarantine for newer accounts (Nov 2020) or something? I mean, I've lurked for a long time, so I kind of understand why that might be a thing based on demographic shifts over the last year or so. Thanks in advance!

ETA: Thanks, whoever fixed that, Much appreciated!

Not sure where else to ask this. What is the "TMI" reaction? I thought the "dumb" reaction was a grey building for the longest time (apparently it's a trash can).
TMI to me looks like a seat belt.

Also is "horrifying" a barbell and if so why?

I think TMI = Too Much Information, but I don't have any idea what this emoji is.

Horrfying is because the stuff is heavy

All those reactions are stupid and pretty much some type of KiwiFarms Reddit Karma Points.
The TMI rating is a scouter from Dragon Ball Z. It was originally called "Powerlevel" because dropping embarrassing information about yourself was/is (you'll still see it used here and there on the forums) called "showing your powerlevel" or some such chan shit.

The horrifying rating is not a dumbbell/barbell, it's Chris-chan's taint piercing from a few years ago. He had the area between his balls and butthole pierced where he thought his clitoris would be. It migrated, and then he re-pierced it with a safety pin (if I'm remembering the sequence of events correctly). He sliced that same area open a year or two later while drunk after a couple of lesbians made fun of him for thinking he's a woman.

EDIT: Also a lot of these ratings were born out of a desire to keep the forum from being littered with one-word responses to this kind of shit; you just drop the appropriate rating instead. People collecting stickers (and bitching at you for neg-rating them) is just the innate autism coming out.

Speaking of ratings, how do you select one on mobile? I can only select like, if I try to hover the button to show the others they disappear very fast.

The threads are showing up like this right now. Not sure if anybody has already brought it up or you already know.

EDIT: Nevermind it's gone now anyway.

Long press on the "Like" button and the other options will appear in a long, horizontal row with really tiny icons so it will still be too easy to press the wrong one. It's not a great UX but it does work.

Just a minor thing I've noticed: If you use the quote object in a private message and the other party replies using the reply function (which puts the entire message into a quote block) the single quote objects of the quoted message vanish. They are basically not nesting, don't know if thats on purpose or just a quirk.
